  1. I guesse these were mould split/flash lines, it seems all quality control rests with the end user ; it is unacceptable but it's likely that the manufacturer is being financially sqeezed by the "distribution chain" whom if they accepted you had a valid complaint would bounce the problem all the way back to the manufacturer. Trust you over the "nevis belly" by now.

    Ssdt Finds

A "miserable " reply as an observer I find loads of stuff every day only problem is it's all crap ..banana skins (ok) drink bottles ,boxes ,sweet wrappers inner tubes used air bottles etc etc it adds up to a n extra rucksack to carry off the section and that can be tedious if one is fortunate enough to be out in middle of nowhere. Please spare a thought and pass the word on ..carry your own rubbish home please. Dont' mean to be miserable scroat but it is a serious issue.
  5. check fluid is in the slave cylinder bleed nipple is above that (in terms of column of fluid) and that ball brg. is in pushrod assy.
  6. Is it like a gasser where you have to "prime" the slave cylinder first?
  7. Nice to see somebody else getting ready ....sound words of wisdom;... ibrubufen, tonic water & rehydrant powders add that little extra to your drugs regime there's many a true word spoken in jest ,I once came upon an older guy a geordie..George ;... going across the moonscape to Fersit, stopped asked if he ok he said he always stopped for a rest there as he'd had a heart attack and had to pace himself! Bracers are of course also usefull for towing dual purpose acessories save weight another example of this was to mount your bulb horn in such a way as be usefull as an onboard ashtray. With modern aircooled bikes it's only a matter of time before someone devises aircon runnimg off the fan, I suppose it's a bit late in the day for all these tecnical tips. As a regular observer nowadays it may be a good idea for those guys who know they aint gonna win to have a pink number board so that we can be sure they arn't trying. Ah well tempus fugit ..remember we'll all have a better time with a a little bit of good humour..see thee there
  8. Its not a bad price.. you wonder with items like this if it should be a requirement to include frame & engine nos. If it's dodgy the guys 's certainly got some "neck". I'm wandering a bit but we had a trials bike stolen a few years back..it turned up being thrashed as a field bike by youngsters all the gas gas part nos. had been ground off and we then had to proove it was ours to the police by identifying a repair in bottom of airbox.....even if you know it's your bike you have to be able to proove it! the kids were declared innocent they bought it cheap etc. the bike was a wreck I now register all my bikes its worth it in long run.
  9. Not neccesarily fashionable but J&L Industrial ..mechanics gloves c.

  11. has anybody got any good tips for Cabby as newcomer to SSDT this year? Having done as many years with a book in my hand as I have ridden It occured to me that the Scottish is very differently observed to what he is used to plus you have same observers for 6 days I just cant imagine him having ability problems in the sections. There is always the possibility of getting lost ..out of fuel...time etc. will he be tempted into the evil ways of beer and haggis?
  12. I thought 4t was all about satisfying American Pollution laws (i understand 2t engines are not encouraged/allowed in USA) The noise "polution" of 4t compared to trials 2t is worth considering .Unlike the media many of us have noticed how clear the sky has been ober last few days compared to back to normaltoday ..they say that all the motor sport in UK in one season produces less pollution than one jumbo jet making one flight. A few trials bikes ain't going to make much difference!. 2t is best for me in most/all trials I do have owned both types because it's just easier to ride/ I di love owning the mont though great fun to ride. Coincidentally I was watching a video of Gas Gas 4t on you tube last night it looked like Tarres riding it and it looked ok and sounded like a bag of nails. I'll be sticking with 2t for forseeable future.
  13. Unqualified help is all I can offer.. Scottish ACU licence or full FIM are more expensive If you have an UK (England or Wales) adress to use it's the cheapest option (

Have you considered putting a pair of grubscrews in the hangers? At point of wear. I had a "problem" set last year and simply drilled & tapped m6 for grubscrews which gives you adjustment (of sag).
  15. I dont know about no one minding! That track is full of walkers always, that means ramblers and we all know they want everything just for them;. it really is sad but why not just visit the ssdt office and ask (its at the Ben view hotel..was milton) I think you'll get a resounding no. The problem for the club is that some tracks like mamore "road" are all that joins up the sections....it could be a 100 yard strip of nothing that loses all of Rannoch for example if somone was upset.
  16. ONE ASSUMES YOU CHANGED OLD SPARK PLUG FOR NEW AND CLEANED CARB& FILTER? MAYBE JUST BLOCKED FILTER OR DUFF PLUG IF NOT DOES IT MISS UNDER LOAD THIS USUALLY INDICATES ht PROBLEM

  18. bugger you#re the first person to GET me!
  19. does it speed up when you turn fuel off to run it out of fuel? check float height theres loads of stuff in beta forums. you can adsjust std air screw with your finger nail my normal procedure is with warm/hot engine adjust air screw to get smoothest tickover possible without it hunting it is an air screw on that carb so in makes it rich and out makes it weak(more air) they are buggers to run smooth and keep running going long downhill i.e too little fuel in float bowl will run lean and conk out downhill ..too much will tend to flood engine but you can get consistent air srew control. check out the forums good luck
  20. have alook at wessex ctre acu (google it) within that you will find wilts border club Theresa Talbot centre secretary lives less than 1o miles from you. Event worth visiting on sunday mendip vale traders trial just on western outskirts of bristol I think the Valers have a website too. see you around
  21. I'm reaching the conclusion that something should be put in the regs. I'd like to go down the points/benifit route but it wouldn't really be fair competition. Maybe just a line to say that in the absence of volunteer observers the boards will be put on the sections and riders will have to do it for themselves. Even more unreliable results will follow but at least it will have been the riders choice. It's just a crying shame that an event such as I described at the outset of this topic with 77 entries can't "atract" just 10 observers. I will like many continue to set out trials etc. but I will not /can not be responsible for finding observers even those potentials hiding in back of van/car/late arrival/have to leave early/need to carry drink bottle/havn't got a brolly/simply don't want to/whatever the reason it MUST FALL TO THE RIDERS TO HELP THEMSELVES BY THINKING AHEAD AND PERSUADING SOMEBODY TO SUPPORT THEM IN A PRACTICAL WAY...observing.
  22. I think both you guys are aware of the difficulty and frustration. I know of a club (amca) I think who pay

How many pounds is 11 1/2 stone?.......... 14 lbs in a stone (we are dreadfully antiquated over here) 2.2lbs in a lilo (genuin mistake that should read Kilo.. a lilo is an inflatable beach bed/toy) I have fancied my suspension is a bit soft but as I do practically nothing heroic (big)and practically no hops or bounces etc. and soft suspension does a lot of work without being noticed if you know what I mean.
