Put the Elf in & you'll never have to change it. I ran mine on the same oil for well over a year & it was 100% fine. Dropped it out before the Scottish & by the look of it, a waste of money. Ran a special mix of oil sold to me by Msport for the Scottish & it worked fine. You'll have to ask Big John what it's going like now. I use Repsol in the engine & change this at regular intervals with a filter change every 3rd change.

If Dabster catches the SSDT bug this year you & him could have a wrinkles tour of the Highlands together next year.

His flights booked for Thursday morning & if it all goes to plan & he can find the road to FW you should see him at Chairlift some time before lunch.

I've just fitted a H&D plate for the SSDT. Bolted it on at the front first & then the rear, no straps needed as it was a drop fit.

I think perhaps he wants to date the year of production of a particular bike & needs a source / website that he can do this from.

You need another bike there when yours is hot & swap bits with it to find the cause. I once saw a 315 doing this & a swapping session soon found the problem which would only occur after the bike was warmed up.

Go through it front to back like you would any other bike & make sure everything works & is tight. Make sure you fit a mudflap on the front mudguard. If you've had any problem with your rear wheel breaking spokes rebuild it with new all round.

what's the fuel consumption like when you're towing fully laden?

They are a bit greedy aren't they, we've a 3.0 td & it wouldn't do 30 to the gallon coasting downhill. Great truck though.
