  1. Ride your bike more, everything else helps but it's no substitute.
  2. So why don't you find them & then post links in this forum, the moderators can then move the relevant thread.
  3. Well, now. We get to see how consistent Andy is about personal attacks, aren't we? Ish is only jealous, he's that awd he can't remember the last time he got an 'ard on about owt.
  4. The guy who wrote the book on trials training and technique used to post on the TC forums. What happened to him? Did he get banned for expressing opinions? I thought Len Weed wrote the book & used Michlin as a front to sell it, subsequently he did the same with a revamped version of the book & Schreiber.
  5. With any luck this should be happening soon.
  6. If you want to watch some really old Scott Trial archive. Go to:- http://www.itnsource.com/en/Home-Page/ click advanced search. type 'Scott Trial' & select search in the Pathe News area only. There's several years from 1919 - 1938. The Le Man's start one year is a personal favourite, Jim the Clock would have an interesting time at the first section if we reintroduced that.
  7. The BBC came back again in 1994, the year Doug won his first Scott.
  8. I think it's 1974 the year that Rob Edwards won. It's part of a longer film by the BBC which covered that years event, it had a Murray Walker commentry. At 3.44 in there's a section called Tank Trap, it's still used basically the same these days. It looks absolutely nowt, very easy. I've been told that Harry Crawford bet Wiggy a tenner he wouldn't clean it, Harry got his tenner.
  9. From the Regs:- UNAUTHORISED ASSISTANCE: A driver should not be met or accompanied during any part of the Trial by any other person or vehicles with the object of obtaining mechanical assistance therefrom. A driver shall not assist any other driver in any manner which might be deemed by the Clerk of the Course to be pre-arranged or organised. Fitting of supplied parts other than those carried by the rider will be deemed to be unauthorised assistance.
  10. perhaps not, one of those lovely people in a bright yellow jacket controlling the road crossing on Reels Head told me off
  11. Got to say that under the current system of date distribution it's pointless RMC applying for a round.
  12. Find the bodies & it will done! But at 200+ folk out there already, good luck. Why ever go to Hurst in the first place though? Bridge End to Holgate is far easier & very few do it. There's sections & two road crossings far more accessible than Hurst ever is. A junior club member was verbally abused by Trial followers when attempting to stop traffic in the morning, she was asked to help after we realised the signs weren't having any effect. What do we do? Stop helping in an understaffed fuel stop during rush hour & go bollock pillocks that can't read?

    The Scott

This year Dougie did the 85 mile course at an average of 17.4 miles an hour, as usual less than 20 riders finished within an hour of fastest time, one hour slower roughly means 3 miles an hour slower, To finish in time a rider needed to do 11.5 miles an hour. I think the answer to your question is skill & bike fitness.
  15. I think RMC would very much liked to have run another A & B National, one or two of us weren't that happy we we not offered one in 2007 after the first class critical review we received from the riders in 2006 but one was still applied for in 2008. The whole problem though is the congestion of the calendar, our diary & that of the ACU simply doesn't match. It's a big shame as we have a first class venue & a fair bit of experience at running proper Trials.
  16. btw Jamie, how warm was your beck?

    Red Line

You could also hold it at full chat until it nips, then after you've rebuilt it you'll know exactly how long you've got to stop it next time.
  18. It was on our very short list of alternative venues to use. I called in one Saturday night & there was a kids birthday party on, I thought it was too good a venue to loose over another kids party so I booked it there & then, informed the rest of the committee later. The lack of seating & tables was something we noted on a recent visited, it'll be discussed along with the lack of a back up microphone & anything else we can think of. Booking for next year is already in hand.
  19. Somebody had to check that the Cricket Club's beer would be OK for the Saturday night.
  20. I've now updated the results, we had Sam Ludgate's time wrong.
  21. results are now on the front page, more info will follow later
  22. ride it a*** first, yer belly weight over the back wheel will do the trick
  23. Doug 20 on obs + std time, Grimbo 5 on time + 34 on obs.
  24. wrong Crawford, Harry rides sans gloves Robert presented the awards this year. Robert probably was the youngest every Scott winner, he also did it at his first attempt.
