  1. Thats not the point either! The point is the observer chose to give him a five (whether this is deemed correct or not is irrelevant) and subsequently changed his mind. If he changed his mind because of outside influence (whether that be from the crowd/riders or other officals) then that is whats contestable, and ultimately what the FIM are looking into. We shouldnt be arguing whether it was a 5 or not, we would end up arguing every ride in every trial. What we should be arguing is, should an observers decision ever be changed or overturned, and via what means can it be changed. If the observer has a quick reflection and goes, no i made a mistake, it should have been a clean then ok, or if a rider fairly challenges the decision and the observer changes then ok. But if he is unfairly forced to change his decision then this is foul play. Andy also touched on a point. While the live scoring is great for most instances, would this have happened if the spectators didnt know the exact scores. Did the live scoring contribute to this? I believe it most certainly did. Should live scoring be removed? I think the pros outweigh the cons on this, but it introduces another dynamic. Also, should the observers be allowed to follow the live scoring? Should the riders? Can a rider change his style knowing the current results? In a lot of ways trials used to be about not knowing what your competitors were on and you rode as hard as you could regardless, especially if observing on boards is used like the ssdt and scott
  2. This is kind of irrelevant. Why the observer changed his ruling is the issue at hand. Nonetheless you are interpreting the fim no stop rules incorrectly. You say he never stopped motion however it specifically states a 5 is awarded for ceasing "forward" motion. So hopping sideways is classed as stopping forward motion
  3. This i agree with, although i would add that the italian crowd obviously berated the observer over a decision on a spanish rider (who should be of no interest to them) and in a way brought about the overturning
  4. They are exactly the same issue, because they are intervening on said issue!!! Its a lot easier to say he stopped, than saying he kept moving. And guess what the official cameraman had it all on video!! Total joke. Ive yet to see a football referee decision be overturned and some of them are absolutely ridiculous decisions. This was a decently respectable observing decision and it gets overturned, and it decided a championship
  5. But thats the exact problem. Every observer is different and all you can do is respect their decision. For the FIM to overrule the observer at the perfect time stinks of match fixing. Whens the last time you seen an observer overturned? As for thinking the rider didnt stop, if you were from "old england" id refer you to your local specsavers. He actaully goes backwards ffs
  6. The incident is around the 13 min mark
  7. Watch the disputed incident in the latest 26 min highlights and make your own decision How can the FIM not back the observers decision? Absolutely disgusting IMO
  8. The corks are to increase the crankcase compression, pretty standard mod with 2 strokes
  9. My question is more about the FIM or whoever is running it. Were they either; 1. In some form of coma throughout the trial? 2. Witnessed it and totally chickened out from confrontation? 3. Witnessed it, deemed it ok, and the FB posters are just sore losers? Trials has reeked of this type of thing for years, and even the most naive of persons had to have known something 'suspect' was likely to happen. Ive read enough on the internet to feel the championship results tarnished. Either way, i think they or the guy at the top should release an explanation as to what happened. EDIT: Thanks for the redirect, seems this is already being discussed
  10. A gasgas is one of the easiest!!!! At least you can remove its tank
  11. Martyn has to move up in my eyes, another year in trial2 just to win it would be a waste. A return to vertigo for a year may be a decent move
  12. 1.5 thou?! Maybe on a freshly bored engine. Some piston manufacturers would recommend more even on a fresh rebore! Wear limit i would guess would be around 5 give or take
  13. Not trying to be funny, but your question isnt much better than "should i buy a red jacket, or a blue jacket?" How longs a piece of string, and how long do you like your pieces of string?
  14. Yes, because the more times you do that, the more times you have to service your suspension
  15. Coarse emery paper, youre going to have to rub it down after the paint stripping anyway, may as well save the time wasted with a heat gun. A sander and the appropriate paper and you should have a tank clean of paint in 10 minutes If its the underside of the tank, then refer back to paint stripper Unless you are on a very tight budget, id save yourself the headache and get the frames shot blasted. 2 frames would probably cost you around 100 quid
  16. PS, you do know bike racks exist? They take up a fraction of the space of a trailer, and if you have a towbar already fitted relatively cheap
  17. For a daylight MOT you dont need lights, as long as you ride during the day in clear visibility. A rear plate, horn and speedo is all thats necessary. Im not sure how long it would take to remove the lights and seat. The 4ride seat and its extra gubbins are quite substantial, theres radiator shrouds and larger mudguard as well. If you remove it i dont know whats underneath, but it definitely doesnt turn into a standard trim 4rt. They have the same engine, frame and suspension as im aware, but you most likely would have to replace the seat youve taken off with something to cover up the filter and replace the 4ride rear guard with a standard guard. Removing a 4ride seat wouldnt gain you much, as theres a plastic structure underneath that is still quite bulky. What you probably want is a standard 4rt with an add on supplementary seat and toolbox, which keeps the original tank and mudguard in place. This however wouldnt be as comfortable as a proper 4ride on the road, but would be more competitive in the trial. Amos Bilbao rode the complete ssdt on a 4ride, so you can certainly trial them even in complete 4ride trim. He finished 20th ish, although i dare say he would hvae been further up the leader board had he been on a standard 4rt. All depends how competitive you want to Sherco also do a 4 ride equivalent, dont know what its called, but i think its even further away from a trials bike.
  18. Your engine has probably went 30 years on the original bore. Bore it to fit the next piston size up, and go another 30 years
  19. I dont think its fuel related. A bike running low on fuel always gasps for a while before cutting completely, this stopped with absolutely no warning. Sounds more like ignition to me
  20. Could be coming through the join in the airbox
  21. Its easier to remove the M10 bolt because you also have to remove the bolt that connects the linkage plate to the swingarm. That way the shock can come out with the just the linkage plate connected to it. So two bolt removals Although, if its been a while since its been out you may want to take the dogbones completely out and grease them, since youve gone this far
  22. You've never needed to remove the skidplate! Wheel out, airbox off, dogbones off, remove top bolt, and out it comes
  23. Or a screwdriver, or a rag between the plier jaws and the spacer! And most people have a heat gun. The object is to do the job without causing excess damage, and when youre a dealer uploading videos to the public even more care should be taken.
  24. Thought id seen enough when he removed the wheel spacers with a pair of water pump pliers, then he started knocking the bearings out cold
