Its advanced itself beyond common reach. Every sport goes through a golden age, trials was in the late 70s to early 90s. Personally i believe it needs a regression, changing the rules wasn't it, but i understand the reasoning. It needs bikes to take a few steps back, to allow a more sensible level to return. To me, bou going up a 12 foot step is no more impressive than jordi going up an 8 ft or lejeune up a 6 foot. Bigger doesn't always mean better. Just look at F1, the most advanced boring sport in the world
Something is wrong when a venue like addingham moorside can't meet the level of a world round. Motocross killed its venues in the 90s, trials is doing the same thing.
The same thing is happening at local level, its becoming harder and harder to mark a section for the beginner and the expert rider at the same venue. Run a trial that suits the expert rider and the beginners complain, run a trial that suits the beginner and the experts complain. Years ago it was easier because the bikes didn't exacerbate the difference in level

Don't go too much by my suggestion. The ones i rode were a couple years old and they had seen better days
-
Anytime i rode an Ossa they always knocked from being too lean. So i think you may be judging against a bike that was already under fuelled
-
With the right technique it doesn't matter what your suspension is set like, suspension rebound only plays a small role in aiding lifting of the bike (weight transfer plays the biggest role). However, at 220 lbs and an intermediate rider id consider looking for a stiffer spring than standard at least in the rear, there's a good chance you're bottoming out when you jump down hard on the suspension, and this certainly won't be helping your hopping woes. The speed of rebound is dictated by the spring stiffness as well as your damping after all

Thats why 99% of the time they are placed next to the boiler which is in a utility room. That being said, in the near proximity to any heat source i usually find my boots dry after a couple of days. Is this to get your boots dry for sunday from riding saturday?
-
Surely they've violated rule no6 and 7 considering Dabill wasn't invited back for the second round yet Fuji was, even though dabill beat him in round 1
Unless Dabill refused
Then in round 3 petrella was invited back but fuji wasn't, even though fuji beat him in round 2.
Marcelli was invited in round 3, and as he's spanish, haga was the under 21 and petrella the different nationality, the only way he can be invited is via the wildcard, so that means he was wildcarded above dabill, fuji and casales
So who's interested in Haga then? I know he's under 25, but they may aswell give him last place before he takes the bike off the trailer. Seriously, theres lots of under 25s better than him!!!!!
How on earth can you wangle petrella, haga, marcelli and aniol into the starting lineup without dabill, fuji, casales, price, grattarola, martyn, jack peace, or moret or even gandola? It stinks ?

Airing cupboard or placed next to the boiler. 24 hours later, dry as a bone
-
If its just for a pit bike, you could get a small second hand trailer for the price of the bike rack
-
Just remember you are forgoing a little smoke for running a 20+ year old bike on a fuel mixture it was never designed to be run on from the day it was manufactured.
If it is spitting oil out the exhaust, you have bigger problems than 50:1, a bike wouldn't spit oil out at 30:1
-
Sounds like you need new seals for the MC
-
So you want trials to go against every other thing in the world and charge a kid the same entry fee as an adult?
Also, in the trials i ride in, a big majority of the observers are the kids parents. No observers, no trials
-
Not when its burning it in large quantities from the gearbox
-
He says its spitting oil out the exhaust, yet you guys are convinced its water? WTF
-
-
Store your project in your house (if you have an understanding wife)
-
Sounds like a crank seal. You can usually smell the difference between 2stroke and gearbox oil
-
Usually its a good guide as to how many hours a bike has done. Worn stanchions, worn bike
-
Whenever i had a pair i used to slap on used gear oil (no jokes)
-
No way! The dellorto is a great carb
-
He says he's done the mains. I was referring back to the day, (I think it was 2001) that sherco thought it a good idea to put C2 main bearings in. 6 months old and every bike needed their main bearings done. I hear what you're saying though, i doubt the bike should run as well as he describes with a jet so far out installed
-
At one point i run a 118 in my shercos, so 143 is definitely too large, pilot i think 33. Are you definitely sure its 143? I didn't think dellorto did a 143, would be either a 142 or 145. Definitely a no regarding running in jets
Agree with konrad, the dellortos are rather insensitive to fuel screw adjustments in comparison to mikunis and keihins. Usually needs at least a half turn to notice a change
The odd kick back was standard back in the day. The 250s more so than the 290s. Retarding the timing would definitely help this.
You've already done the most important thing regarding those era of shercos, repack the silencer, did you do front or back section, or both? Those sealed silencers were a PITA
I think 2001 was the year of the dodgy main bearings
-
No, id only worry after a year or 2, but if you're having to scrimp on a litre or 2 of fuel then things must be tight in canada
-
Just make sure you have your username and password written down somewhere, for when you choose to sign back in ?
-
Were you one of the buyers @the dabster ?? ?
-
Its not, its £5000, difference £1250
