  1. when you lay them down they flood fuel gets in to air box as i found out lol so as you kick them over sucks the fuel in making them rich, i dont think it had a drain plug in the air box i put a one in, left open (bladder type) no probs again hope this helps
  2. Reading the post it stands out the trials riders fall into 2 groups 1 that compete/ 1 that play, Its the 1s that only play we need to get to trials .Would instead of giving beginners a riding number a card with F on it for "fun" ,there scores are not recorded or put on results if they dont finish trial /miss sections they are not marked down as a dnf ,only there names on the results saying they were there " only they would know how they did", So when they feel ready they can get a riding number and compete if not stay in the FUN class , This way no extra courses/ alter sections or pressure put on them to do a section if they dont want to do it or do x laps they only do what they are happy with, The fun class is not just for beginners / thinking about moving course try it no scores to be seen
  3. Now after reading that i do stand by "flat field " so its not the sections or the course between the sections but fatigue ! You are correct thats why new starters pack in they find it physical too hard (but whos that down to ?) keep going, it dose get easier
  4. were do i say your a crap rider ? are the sections to tight to long ,not enough time to do them see THATS what feed back we need if there are no new riders coming into the sport the sport will die what dose a new rider want to ride dose not matter what section you put on someone will find it hard (all i was trying to point out what i see is happening at trials and how to improve things)
  5. Ive rode in the ne ,The easy course is no harder than getting round the course ! so why did the easy route not work for you ? what did you expect a ride across a flat field,(tell us so we can sort the problem )or is the main problem here people go get a trials bike go to a trial not knowing what trials is about ?ive been to trials when people walk a stream section from the bank side ! sorry what i see is a lot of riders that are sheep & can not find the line
  6. its a really good topic this more you read the more you think , Is the problem clubs are trying to hard to get big numbers of riders ie class for that /a course for them and in doing so pleasing no one, Its very hard to make 3 or 4 sections for each class out of 1 wed night /sat trials set for beginners novice riders ONLY sundays hard/clubman trial only no trial should have more than 2 course that way you know what your going to get to ride Another problem is the expert riders have wanted t hard courses now they have got them they can not ride them drop a course then want that course made harder !
  7. after reading the posts . The big one is how secret the sport is and how we hide in the shadows no wonder no new blood in the sport they dont know about it ! read some of the locations for the trials the row/tip end all ok if you know were your going, but a new rider going to there 1st trial a row of flags at a junction mean nothing to them , They arrive at a trial muddy field to park in ,no toilets ( for wife & girl friend ) = observers ,a farm track to get there ,someone new turns up in there car what a shock might be there first time up such a farm track there thoughts of the day not going back im going to wreck my car"£300 exhaust"! I feel there is a lot more needs sorting with trials than the just the sections, peoples expectations are a lot higher now than they were thanks to y tube . As for keeping the youth rider in the sport are they starting too young ? 4yr olds on a osset by the time they reach 21 they have been in the sport 17 yrs no wonder they want to move on and try something new
  8. is part of the problem with so many courses people just get confused with all the markers, Also is x laps to much for the new riders, youth & adults why not let them choose full trial or half must be disheartening to struggle just to get round the course then 5 the sections
  9. the trouble is a lot more mature//older riders are coming into the sport than young riders , The main problem is keeping the youth riders in the sport how many go through and then move on to enduro , Is to much effort put in on the youth side and the new older riders forgot as in training days / conducted course ? Also how many clubs charge half price entry to youths will that sicken adults off paying for someones child to ride --------------------just thoughts
  10. I think lack of entries is down to- 1 No one knows the trials are on , years ago it used to be tmx then trials central now clubs have there own web page put it on there only 2 Clubs put to hard sections on ive seen sections get harder ,some riders want harder sections but do not want to move up a course to get them , 3 riders get sick of same sections every time , 4 riders getting fed up of expert course riders dropping down to clubman course at nationals . 5 lack of observers 6 you can go and practice for less cost of a trial entry fee The problem with trials now they have no grading system in place for riders ,Clubs have put more and more courses on to get bums on seats the only thing ive seen is with this a lack of observers as they are not marking 1 section but 4 in 1 not a easy job as it used to be

    Running Lean?

repack the exhaust when they get burned out it knocks jetting all over the place
  13. here you go out of parts book -------- 17358-nn-2000 tube drain & 15707-634-000 clip breather job done
  14. we dont have any riders do we thats the problem !!!!! trials put on for them to ride they dont enter BUT come on here whinging trials are canceled, . As for attitude did they ride 1 course & just got on with it ? NOW 6 classes 3 courses no entries. Thank you yes i do ! got to go practice bye !
  15. Reality check why have events been cancelled oh riders dont put the entries in A 3 course 6 class event "forgot the sub class will sort all that that out !!!!!!!!! OH I really wish we could go back to the good old days of trials when riders just got on with it and not whinge so much .ITS now time for another reality check its the riders attitude that have changed " i dont want a hard day trialing or lose any marks" ,does lots of marks = A hard trial or is it a unfit crap rider who finds out A BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP is not the place for him , ttspud I would not take up fishing coz someone will catch a bigger fish than you then you will whinge about that
  16. a slow action throttle on a 4rt is the same speed / opening as a bike with a carb & fast action throttle
  17. well they we have it ! SAME as other vintage sports it is NOT and never will be That stable door was opened a long long time ago and the horse is long dead ! yes people have given up ,with what they have to work with its the best of a bad job so good or bad there is a set of rules to follow "the end" but suppose its easy to blame the rules for everything .Yes but a new set of rules will turn the clock back to the good old days when the series had 450 how long ago was that, NO TIMES and PEOPLE move on, them days have LONG GONE ! i would love to see the sport back to the numbers of the 70s dont ever think I will for your info ttspud i ride a twinshock IN championships i also ride a new bike IN championships and i seen how things are going and I hear people say it needs another class/ another course & will that then fix everything ! no because someone will not like them rules or that course and round we go again !!!!!! Sorry WHY is it so important to save a original bike ?, if it so special or worth a fortune why ride it in sections were it could get damaged ?

    Number Boards

its so simple never thought of it
  19. Ask original riders ? they are in there 80s now "as in those that ride to the original rules on original bikes" SO WHY DONT YOU RIDE IN THAT CLASS ? they manage too WHY NOT YOU . YOUR the 1 HARPING on about , hard sections / not fair to ride against the modded bikes / NO ORIGINAL bike sub classes /need original bike scrutineering / I want class for ttspuds bike . & as for the "original rules " turn up ride ,the 1 course 1 set of flags ride as a nov/inter/ex & A trials tyre to be fitted that was it ! back in the day . yep draw the line leave it as it is it works ,bikes are out being ridden on a weekend, Do I care if i see a original 1962 or a new 2017 bike NO I go to ride my bike at a trial and do the best i can on it. What is the real problem here the bike or the rider ? . Nothing you have come up with is going to save a failing championship which is the topic ,What dose it boil down to ? the cost has to be, as there are trials/ riders /bikes ,but no entrys So commit to a championship (cheep motor sport ) the rest is not hotels /food /fuel /the miles on your motor / travel 5hrs 1way/ sort the bike for the next round /try to get bits/ cost of bits if found/time to do all that & fit in home life and work and we wonder why entrys drop off after a few rounds of championship ,I dont think it has anything to do with the rules its more to do with cost and time .Sad but no matter what the acu/clubs do its out of there hands if people dont put a entry in (so use it or loose it ) & Sad to say looks like championships are going to be a thing of the past
  20. If there so few originals left Why would the ACU & CLUBS go to all the extra bother for 1or 2 bikes extra in a entry , TELL US ttspud ,Will you -----ride every round of the championship, how scrutineering will be done ,if its the same as pictured then its NOT original "Rerouted exhaust and modified oil tank " its a modified pre 65 "start of the problem" ! round &round we go
  21. thanks for letting us know about these sort of trials. I think they are the sort of trials ttspud needs to be going to ticks ALL the boxes for him
  22. is any of this anything to do with OFF ROAD TRIALS motor cycles the problem ls ttspud is going to the wrong TRIALS he is turning up to off road trials he needs to go to classic trials like you have with your cars
  23. ttspud I think you will find the ACU are doing it /clubs are doing it ,the problem is the rules are NOT as you want , Do you really believe making all pre 65s back to bog standard will increase entries ? who will have the knowledge to scrutineer these total original standard pre 65 bikes with old tyres,(theres your first problem a 55 yr old tyre ) Ride it as it is or put it on a plinth in a museum its your bike. Dont expect people want /will change there bikes to make yours competitive , I think you will find most series are failing as cost makes them restrictive not the rules , Just how long are the trials in you ideal world, seems to me there will be more time spend with the scrutineer and less time riding sections with the rules you want .Most classic/ historic scrutineering takes place the day before the event !
  24. ttspud so a ex works bike -was that not a cheat bike back in the day ? is that the route cause of the all problems now ,as people copy it and with 60yrs of EVOLUTION here we are today with bikes the way they are . As you say sections to suit the bikes ok they do your bike dose not suit the sections ? change all sections for 1 bike ? Ive seen so this is Yorkshire dvd do you really think people want to travel 100s miles to ride sections like that, & go clean at every round .Heres a wild thought why dont you run a trial how you want it with your rules then your happy good luck with that !
  25. As for the CMCR rules ok then tell me what has changed over the years in road racing NOTHING they still go round and round on tarmac so bikes dont need to change. Now tell me what has changed in trials YES the sections so the bikes changed to suit the sections . The type of event you dream of is it ? a concourse scrutineer ,ride on a grass field ,stand and talk about your bike and then go home. As for the preservation of machines i would rather see a bike used than a immaculate bike parked & polished, if thats the sort of bike you want fair play, just dont think everyone else dose alot of people want to use the bikes . is poor entrys down to the trials being on the roads ? & NO I do not ride or own a pre 65 bike
