well nigel whats the topic about ? riders leaving due lack of sponsorship at wtc &btc what dose that need CASH !.Nice list of names you gave think you will find most of there pay came from factorys for development work . .As for events ive seen about 20-30 when living in Europe & l since moving back to the UK 3-4 .As for names I will never ever name names out of respect for other people .As for riders WELL RIDERS WHO ARE DOING IT FOR A LIVING ! But I will bow down to your vast Knowledge powers of trials as your the man Andrew !
-
no offence taken at all "intotrials" BUT i really dont think people are aware because if they are why have they picked trials ridding as a carrier ? trials will ever only be a hobby sport and these riders need to grasp that fact
-
NO nigel YOU TELL US were the money is in trials ? as for your perspective of me what ever ! As for names how far back do you want to go ? i have been doing trials long enough to know there is NO money in it ! , if it costs "X" amount to sponsor a rider and that sponsor/business used the same "X" amount advertising on the internet which will have the bigger audience trials rider or the internet ? value for money. /,So tell us Nigel when the rewards are so low why are these riders allowed to/are keep push the sport to such a level that the costs out way the return AS cost and commitment well thats any sport if you want to be good at it !"Hard circus sections" how do you think non trials riders see it ? when grass root riders can not even relate to the sections !"Riders priced themselves out of a job" well they can not afford to pay for it on there own but they need to be in it to win it to get the sponsor ! why do people think trials will become a mass spectator sport and that will fix the cash problem ? some sports are just not popular to non participants and trials is one of them sports
sorry if people feel this is harsh but whats the point of looking through rose tinted glasses at problems As ive said in the past trials at grass routes is doing well !!! the part of trials that is struggle is the part were money /sponsorship is involved !!!!!!!!!!!!! I never thought trials is /will or has been a professional sport
-
Let me think well how about the ones that throw the towel in when they dont get sponsorship !!! these top /elite riders got what THEY wanted hard "circus" sections but still want harder ,+ needing minders and parts and that comes at a cost (to get there and be there ) well they now have priced them self out of a job They want to be there but expect a sponsor to pay for them to be there that sort of rider Nigel !
-
I find it disgusting that these elite/top riders feel- the sport owes them a living ! when the sport is run by volunteers week in and week out
-
Its the PRO end of trials thats the problem with the lack of funds ! well if the funds arn,t then redundancy comes thats life ! ,Trials will never get the numbers of spectators to fund the PRO rider and that rider has turned the sport into a circus with sections getting out of hand but wanting it harder ? you got what you wanted hard sections but a lack of riders = lack of funds =redundancy !!! i find it very strange some people really think the lesser riders / governing body should pay for the PRO riders way of life , Would top level trials be in such a mess if these top riders had a 8-5 job to fund there sport ? thus not spending all day training, getting so good they need the circus style sections SO when pro /top rider leaves i wont be shedding a tear for them, How much have these riders put back into the sport, trials schools YES but charge for the privilege !!!!!!!!!
-
REALLY and what has that got to do with anything ? should we all stick another shock on and fit drum brakes ? soon get them nearer to a 100 or over that way ! AND back them days there was a grading system ! that worked and riders were in it not like todays
-
Ok All lost marks and wanted it harder ! "all my long years trialing will never understand that " loose marks your NOT good enough to clean that section so the section was more than hard enough for you .!
-
GREAT as we are talking about BTC "BTC " the best in the country stand out but it has had to turn into a normal trial multi course to keep running due to the lack of entry (the point of the forum) but i still can not see what the point of sections so hard the top boys taking 5s or3s on them
-
so with that thinking set the trial for 1 man /woman and forget about the rest of the entry
so your saying the level is not set correctly due to having the second course ?
have these riders both rode BTC /elite riders ?
well the alternative is not bother to go and watch which seems to be the case ,
did I bring TV up no I DID NOT !
As for the top riders wanting hard sections to be pushed to there limit for the good and benefit of the sport ? I feel its more good and benefit to there pocket wage/sponsorship as hard sections few can ride keep there advantage going
-
So decreasing severity will not increase participation ? so why have we had to do we do it at club level with all the courses ? well some of these riders are happy to go and ride a national & as you point out whos going to jump up from the second route well why bother to run the second route then ? ,If these are the "elite riders" they will win no matter what hard or easy what is the point of the sport getting to the point were 99.99% do not even relate to it any more if you want to see them do all the tricks go to the circus or watch them on saturday night prime tv BGT !
well i would say yes why not i would give it a go might be better than whats on TV NOW bit like the BTC & WTC wont know till you give it a try
-
a home made bike RGC at the ssdt in the late 70s had a flywheel cover made out of one

After reading replies I stand corrected about easing the BRITISH TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP course,as pointed out " its the blue ribbon of trials, the riders need pushing to there limit , we DO have national trials to get riders to a level to ride BTC We need hard events were the elite riders in the country get to show there skills off to joe public and these riders need pushing if there going to make it on the world stage "!. SO by all means keep the British Trials Championship Hard for a elite group of 6 or so riders im sure its a winning formula ! as its working so well at WTC what can go wrong . Time to bust some peoples bubble trials can survive without the elite riders
-
British championship what a joke multi class/multi course "quick fix" NEVER work because the jump between the courses is far to much ( you can see this at club trials) with sections very few can ride there never will be a big entry for it ,so when 6 riders YES six dont turn up it turns into a farce with 1 rider so even without the covid excuse there would only been 7 so do these 7 really need there own course why not ease the sections drop them all on i 1 course and get a true trials champion what have you got to lose as the top class at btc can not go on like this
-
imho why i said fan drawing excessive current as montesa 4rt needs lights to be switched off to start /and a fan relay to cut fan off +3 kicks for starting that tells me there is no spare current in the system --- as the bike starts cold that says everything is working ! the only thing that then gets added to that system is the the FAN as the fan cuts in and out the fan motor gets hot ,drawing excessive current to turn until it draws too much current and cuts the bike out . Why not the fuel pump drawing to much current ? well the bike would cut out when the fan cuts in for the very first time- ---due to the fuel pump running constantly ,the highest current pull from the fuel pump is at start up to get the pump to turn thus the need for lights off and fan relay +the 3 kicks to charge the system fully up .
-
what maps are on the bike ? is all the restricts removed ?how is the bike running before cutting out black smoke miss fire ? if bike running good and only cuts out and bad to start when hot i think the problem is the cooling fan, starting to seize will turn /work but drawing to much current away from fuel pump also look at fan relay,i find it very strange the ecu will not allow you to set the correct tick over as its only a air valve screw

-
Cheep way to drop power get some gaffa tape and tape the air filter inlet opening smaller experiment to what power you want
-
A while ago you started a topic wanting first aid at trials and your still trying, So as someone that needed it = ambulance came could not get to me so mountain rescue too a air ambulance So at this present time all that would put a strain on the system so a good move stop any chance of it being needed ! ? As for your minimum standard tell us what is needed wheeled or air ambulance and mountain rescue all on stand by ?( because that was what was needed) Who picks that bill up for that service having them sitting at a trial all day on the off chance and is there enough of them to cover all trials over a weekend ? try to get that cost put on the entry fee ! Or do we keep the system as it is now that works we call them when they are needed Do you require first aid cover every time you get on your bike on the drive or out at practice so why at trials ?
-
And this is why we have the ACU governing body to sort this ! but A good start would be all events turn into pre enter NO ENTRYS ON DAY =helps with parking and along with acu membership we get a race number as in scotland ?(goes on bike & observes boards done to suite ) riders wear color bib for which course there on as in ireland = no queues around the secretarys car should work well at club center level, nationals? different format you get you number sent to you. As for section queues tape from begins cards out 6ft say 1rider /bike in there at a time riders own responsibility for distancing along with walking sections , .The only problem with all this is riders are going to have to get there act together
-
Our lass will not observe asked her why ? This is why -- she gets to a 3+ in1 section then has to figure out all the splits in the flags were the section goes , then has to try to make out a felt tip pen cross on the number to see which course there on, when shes done all this then put in the position to make the hard decision on was it a stop or not as the sections are marked out to tight and then having to wait for the expert course riders to come round a lap after everyone else has finished ! Thats why theres 1 less observer .
-
hi not a wind up ! check flywheel magnets --- had bikes run ok but higher revs no chance what happens its a weak magnet that do not but out enough current to send the cdi into advance
All i do is hold a small screw driver to the inside of fly wheel feel it getting pulled by magnets as you move around the inside of the flywheel with luck you will feel a weak one and theres the problem hope this helps

. The future of trials UK ? could be very good a fresh start -- look at the state of trials add another course and it will fix everything ! , Is this the perfect time start from scratch again ? 1 course a grading system with club trials easy / center bit harder / national lot harder just like the old days it worked and worked very well it went from that to the farce we got now multi class multi course no grading ! so as it will be a fresh start what have we got to lose to give it a try ? how trials got to the state its in now ? some riders pushing the rules to the limit but with not bringing them riders back into line with the rules but change the rules to the them riders and welcome to state of modern trials ! Wonder were trials would be now if Mr Tarris was given a 5 when he started stopping & hopping
-
did i say you or did i just use your statement you made ? why the acu said dont practice all i did was give a reasons why not to practice as the saying goes if the the cap fits ! if it makes someone think and stops them about going practice then good its done what it was meant to do sooner this is sorted the sooner we all get to go play and i hope all trials people make it through stay safe
-
1 dont practice on your own
2 you feel safe to practice without medical cover but you need it for trials ?
3 some were to practice at your house whats the problem BUT if not how & were are you going to go practice ?
4 need 2m separation whos going to pick a bike off you or catch you ? see 1
just a thought as the NHS is under pressure at the moment maybe the ACU thinks why give them more problems to sort they may also think dicks will go and practice on there own so thus saving theses dicks from them selves . Lets think what maybe be need for a practice crash and were we practice =ambulance/air ambulance +medics ,even mountain rescue to get you to ambulance ,then trip to hospital might have to get a bed OR worse case scenario bike lands on you your stuck under it no one there to help your found in "x time" just coz you being a dick DONT BE LIKE A DICK STAY AT HOME
