  1. We could expand on that one, especially if we'd been for a pub lunch "It's a prosthetic leg, I didn't dab, it was flapping in the breeze" You dabbed on both sides! "Yep, that ones prosthetic as well" And you leaned against that tree with your arm! "You're not going to believe this but...." On yer bike mate! "I could prove it....but you'd have to give me a lift back to the car" Just noticed this isn't in "Anything goes" so I'll just pipe down.
  2. How about - In a Monty Python styleeeee: "WHAT??? THAT'S NOT MY LEG!!!!" No, maybe not. Sorry, I have a strange sense of humour
  3. Is there a modern bike that doesn't fit in to that category? When you buy it you get a half link in the standard chain, and I suppose you're meant to buy a similar replacement. GasGas had the same problem, you couldn't quite take the chain far enough to take a full link out. But...yep I reckon it would be a beneficial improvement to the standard bike.
  4. Who was the language expert doing the presentation? I just know this is going to be someone on here, or someone's dad or summat, but I'll take the risk No offence meant, it added to the entertainment Some wonderful pronunciations, managed to apply a french accent to Lamplough every time, and a German accent to Austermuhle the first time. And is it really pronounced billbeeoh? I was only there for the last few days, but absolutely bowled over by it. Couldn't believe how severe all the terrain is round there. Got to be seen to be believed. I've had to walk round some nasty terrain in the past, but it's just everywhere! Rains reliably every 40 minutes, just like Oswestry, so that was nice. Organisation must take some doing. So much ground to cover. It's given me a hunger for it. If I can fit in about 14 months training between now and the next one I'll maybe try for an entry One thing that surprised me was that I expected the whole town to be packed solid with spectators. Although there are still plenty around, it's definitely not full. I reckon it should be a Mecca, brimming with spectators. Could more be done on publicising it maybe? Posters to clubs etc. Sounds daft, but I bet there are trials people that don't really realise that it's going on, or how you'd go about staying there etc. Brilliant event - more people need to see it. Good stuff.
  5. May have been summat to do with the previous calipers??? The ones that were outside the swinging arm, maybe they gave less movement. Dunno? Did always seem daft to me.
  6. The standard chain adjusters DO NOT take your spindle back all the way. There's about another 7 or 8mm to go. That's what the replacement ones are for! Have a look at yer Sherco.
  7. Followed by a message for Grimbo:
  8. To be honest, they came on Thursday, and I had to be out the door to get up to Scotland. I quickly fitted the left one, just to see how it went on. The original spring and nut/bolt fitted OK. The bush doesn't fit. I was wondering whether the Hebo ones use a bush or whether they are strong enough on their own? Anybody? Easy to knock one up anyway. I'll shove the other one on tomorrow, and have a play around the garden, but I can't give you a full report on them until end of May. I'm away to Canada on Wednesday for a couple of weeks. If they work for me, they'll be OK for anyone They are slightly higher than the standard ones. I don't know what effect that will have. Probably one I'm not really after at my size but had to try them. Just about to order the snail cams as well. Bloke seems genuine enough, nice little email from him.
  9. The gas calculator makes it more complicated than using a simple 'sum'. If we can't decide what the mixture needs to be, the diffrence of 2ml of oil is going to make bugger all difference. Babies bottles make good measuring containers. If you flush them out with fuel you're getting as near as you'll ever need, and as accurate as a fuel station pump will get you to 5 litres. No point nit picking about it, but your maths is right Lew, it's actually 83.summat to 1
  10. Just for you Lew, that's about 60ml to 5L
  11. Just divide 5000ml by 75ml and that will tell you your ratio. I'd sy that's around 65:1 Obviously this works the other way round too. If you want to run 75:1 just divide 5000ml by 75 and that's how many ml of oil you need. So for 75:1 you need about 65ml of oil. Just dug my calculator out and it's around 67 for both of those answers so not far off in me head. Someone mentioned a while ago, that my old mans philosophy from the 70's "Shove a little bit extra oil in just to keep the motor sweet" isn't necessarily true, and apparantly the extra oil can have the effect of making it run hotter, so don't be fooled in to that one like I was.
  12. I think the two separate parts of that rule should be split up to avoid confusion. I reckon it's badly worded, but I think the intention was that footing with the engine stopped would be a 5. I reckon the forward motion bit was added for the second part, so if a rider was freewheeling down a section and clips his bar on a tree, or sumps out on something for example it would not be classed as a 5, as long as he starts the bike without footing. Bad wording.
  13. In fact. I'll delete my post, because now that I realise that your rules are so different to ours, I'm in danger of hijacking the thread. I'll shove it somewhere else. Incidentally, my point was that there is no rule in TSR22a that you could give a 5 for as long as the rider kept both hands on the bar and stayed astride the bike. He seems to be able to lie on the floor etc etc. We don't have the handlebar rule either.
  14. What's the set up with the MacD wireless then? How much? How do you get on it. How d'ya find someone behind the counter that knows what it is - Was HL on shift?
  15. I may well make it to the Alex. I've just seen the video of your training build up K. I reckon you're ready. RocKinell Takes a while to load - it's not just a picture of a supermarket
  16. I've put a half link in. Does seem a pain in the butt that for most of the chains life I've got two split links in it. I may have to try out the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE chain adjusters.
  17. The only place I tend to bash myself is on my knees, more often than not somewhere on the bike. My favourite at the moment is bashing my right knee on the tank. Don't know why or how I'm doing it really. My knee's swollen up at the moment, but that was from football the other night. Knees seem to be my weak spot. I would think about buying some sort of protection if it was: 1. Light 2. Not a pain in the a*** to keep in place 3. Didn't cost a fortune 4. Didn't look bloody stupid 5. Comfortable (don't want my knees turned it to mush with sweat For me, the protection would be against knocks I suppose, but there may be some advantage to actually providing support as well. Although throughout the years I've had to wear the odd knee support for one thing or another and it has been uncomfortable when the knees fully bent (like it would be when sat down on the longer road trials) As a member of the over 6 foot club it's always a little uncomfortable sat down, to get yer feet on the pegs. At that point I almost need knee sliders as my knees are on the ground
  18. Looks like I may be able to get up there for Thursday night and Friday daytime. Anybody got any tips for finding somewhere to stay around FW at this late stage? Watch out K - I'll be there cheering you on. I''ll be the one in the pink leotard with "Come on Kinell" across the front of it. I hear I should go to the early sections to make sure of seeing you
  19. Question stemming from the previous post. Does anybody actually use any protection for trials, other than: Helmet Boots Gloves I suppose we have some minimal padding in the likes of Hebo trousers and padding in some jackets, but presumably these are specific protection devices, like body armour etc. What sort of thing are we talking about Axl? Do you have anything to do with the above three?
  20. John B - Teeside. You a plumber? If so, which John B are you, around 65 or around 40? David still trialling, or did he stick to rally cross? It's been 20 years - I may have missed bits. If not a plumber, ignore all above, you're the wrong John B.
  21. Jif used to do the trick. I think someone in their wisdom changed the name to cif or summat, but I would think it would be similar. Needs to be a little abrasion in there.
  22. Dodgy ground there after the Chris Carter. I took the bits off myself (Sherco), whereas yours just fall off (unnamed motorcycle) What was that about the free squirrel, just to follow behind and pick the nuts up???
  23. Me too. Ya can carry 'em anywhere Some mornings it's hard to choose.
  24. Ahhhhh Woody - Just seen the results. Wondering who the CWAC bloke was. It all comes together now I didn't see much of the adult trial today. Simon's been on form recently and doesn't seem to have affected him too much changing over to ride the 4t first time today.
