  1. I don't need throttle when doing it on flat ground with my 4RT but have found some when doing the figure 8's on a hill can some times be helpful (depending on the hill).

    315r clutch

The only way you could tell for sure would be to measure the thickness of the disk with a set of calipers. I didn't have any different color or type of disks in my 4RT, but have had different thicknesses of the steal disks on my wife's Gas Gas and the glue issue on my daughters Beta 80.
  3. The splat shop has been doing this for a long time and I doubt they would list it as good if it wasn't true. I admit I have an 07 4RT so can't say on the 315r, but I would believe the splat shop if I had a 315r if that helps any.

    315r clutch

Part of the clutch fix accounts for the glue bonding the friction material to the disks witch will cause unexpected sticking to the mettle plates as it will heat up and stick when the friction plates don't. This is only an issue if you see the disk are warn to the point the glue can touch the mettle plates or if the glue was put on in excess amounts causing it to be in contact with the plats as well. I haven't seen this on a Honda clutch myself but it is possible.
  5. When I consider the cost of inflation I have to wonder the impact inflation has on employee pay, R&D, materials, etc. Then the extra 2k might be accounted for? Because the basic calculation for inflation is about the buying power of the $ not the impact that has across the board, isn't it? But I admit I could be looking for a way to justify the cost of a trials motorcycle because I love riding them...

    315r clutch

I would open it up and look at the friction plates and the clutch basket, if the clutch basket is in great shape and the clutch plates have plenty of life left in them then the beta clutch fix or new plates would sort the issue fine. If when you check it out you see ware on the clutch basket your best fix would be to replace with new, however some people have carefully filed down the baskets and been able to get good results so that might be an option. Good luck.
  7. I admit I love the look of some bikes over others but in the end it wouldn't be my primary cause to buy one over another. However, if I was new to trials I suspect it would influence at least a little what I might try first. And then if I liked it I might get that one before trying others. So in the end it would play a factor in what I might buy. And as such, I can see how it could influence new trials riders more than well established riders and be well worth the forethought of the companies making them.
  8. Don't get me wrong I would love an E-Bike as well as my current petrol, however with the current batter technology as it is with the cost being as high for extra batteries in comparison to the energy density in liquid fuels its going to be a bit tell I myself would say they have actually put the thin end of the wedge in the petrol bikes. My 2 cents... On that note I would love to take a ride on all of the E-Bikes they currently have out there... Hope to do so some day soon. (bring them to the US quick!)
  9. I admit I would have loved a Repsol engine update to the 300 instead of the 300RR. However I can't nock the look or ride of the 300RR its such a nice bike! With the black frame on the 300RR you could always get some Repsol plastics and some yellow stickers for the tank and wheels... Then the 300RR would look a lot like the Repsol... Talking about it is making me want to consider it...
  10. Bike to light would be a complete disqualification from what I understand. So I am guessing something else.
  11. The 4RT is great at pulling from low to midrange so running in second or third could be fine but as long as your not revving it to the moon I doubt your hurting it.
  12. For me I got a bit more of what you are indicating at first and it went down over time. the second thing that helped me was setting up the bars and levers correct, turned out I had them to far back and the levers to far down. however with going to that many events I would guess you have already address the setup of the bike. Oh and the more you turn with your feet the better as well.
  13. With the suspension update to my 07 it doesn't push nearly as much as it did before. It was a truly revolutionary upgrade. Where It dose still have its moments everyone who has been on it has indicated how much different it is over other 4RT's they have been on. Though I haven't had what I would call a proper ride on the 300 yet I still suspect it's got the upper hand in most things and in the end I am already loving it!
  14. Short first ride report. After about 30 min on the bike it isn't as different as I expected it to be from my 07 4RT. This might be do to the fact that I had my 07's rear shock re-valved with lighter oil and am also running the lighter oil in the front forks as well. But a bit more back to back riding and I suspect I will be able to start seeing the differences. Now what I can say so far... Where the re-work on my 07 is great the suspension is a little nicer on drops with the 300RR, though I do thing a few adjustments on the clickers and a little more pre-load on the front of the 07 and it would be closer to the 300 though I suspect I will still like the 300's more over all. The brakes have more bite and I suspect I will like this even more when I take it out for its first real trials ride over some larger obstacles. As for power; its hard to say yet and am sure I will need to get it out for a more aggressive ride before I can really comment on this. Love the way it looks!
  15. Yes it really happened. Ride report to follow soon...
  16. Coming I promise... had a delay with the check... I forgot to have the bank send it overnight so I get the bike tomorrow. Ye it was crazy of me to not make sure it was being sent out correctly... lol
  17. Good one but a bit of a stretch don't you think? An F1 race engine in comparison to a production bike engine that, other than a relatively minor change in displacement, has been in production sense 2005 isn't really a good example of what anyone would see from this bike. In the end though even a Montesa/Honda isn't guarantied to be perfect, just likely to be close.
  18. I will post them as soon as I have the bike and can do so.
  19. Well, mine came in today, I get to pick it up tomorrow! not sure how well I will be sleeping tonight.
  20. Based on who that is, I am sure it was a demonstration ride and wasn't the level he competed in.
  21. You want a way to capture the tick over speed (RPMs) to be sure your set correctly at 1800 and yes that's actually where it should be... from the manual "Engine idle speed 1800 ±100 min-1 (rpm) "
  22. So it doesn't have the two map selector switch? Strange all the 2016 300RR's I have seen had the map switch... I wonder if the throttle body has the two maps and by just adding the switch you can use them both?
  23. Agreed, the engine has Honda printed right on the side and they are well known for being one of, if not the most, reliable of all of the trials bikes out there.
  24. All ears for the ride report and comparison between the 06 Repsol and the 300RR.
  25. Awesome! Congratulations...
