What else do you do of an evening in Korea?
-
Low point of the week for me was having my jacket stolen by one of Carline Sandiford friends.

Well at last I've had time to look though and sort all the video from one of the TC camera's out this year. I've compiled a file of the week as a taster for you. It's on google video SSDT 2008. Oh some of Matt's helmet cam stuffs included too.
I've also got all the video from this camera sorted by day, section and rider name and there's 675 clips totalling 30Gb or more. I'd love to be able to sort out a way of making it available like Andy does with the photos but I dont have the knowledge or facilities. Maybe Andy will have some ideas. I'll be sending it all to him soon but I'm in Korea so it may take a few days to get to him.
Edit: BTW it's 49mins long so get a coffee if you're at work.

The topic Gizza5 started was "Stop Or No Stop?, Which is more Challenging?" Not which do you prefer, which takes more skill etc.
Look at the video of Jarvis again would it be more challanging for him to do it no stop or not? I think you have the answer Ladys and Gentlemen.

I am. With some time on my hands I've been doing some video work. Keep an eye on the SSDT forum.... news coming in the next hour.

B*****ks, I know guys who can jump, hop, reverse, balance for hours et cetera but still stuggle to get up a fairly stiff section that guys who can do little of the former just clean easily. Obviously there are guys the opposite. Which one has more skill? Very difficult to say it depends what you're trying to do surely. Even I think I'm more skilled than some guys who are good tricksters but know tricksters who are better than me and I'm not a great rider by any means. IMHO it's the same level of skill just shown in a different way.
Again I'll repeat my previous point, the top guys and girls are highly skill no matter what type of sections are being riden and the rest of us aren't. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses though. Its just that most of us have have more of the later.

Or move to Scotland. The SACU (who govern our sport in Scotland) have pretty much stuck with no-stop. I can't remember the last trial I rode where a stop was permitted. This suits my riding style (if you can call it a style) but better riders still do better. The issue of observing is not an easy one but as long as an observer treats everyone the same it should work.
Going back to this years SSDT where Dougie dropped 2 at Gorton. I was one of very few at the section and the observer was being very un-scottish in giving out 5's for even a momentary stop of almost imeasurable time. The riders were warning each other so everyone knew that they couldn't stop even for a fraction of a second. I think it was this on Dougie's mind that made him take at least his second dab. I've got the video and will share it soon but his first dab was maybe explainable by his chosen line but the second was 100% down to worrying about stopping. The obverser took some stick during the day (not from Doug) but I'd have to say he was far to tough but fair all the same. Quite a few more than two 'cleaned' it if the marking had been as per every other section of the week but too many stopped for a fraction of a second. A tough section and one worth the walk in to if your planning a visit in future. Andy even made it. Though I think he'll carry an oxy bottle next time.
So anyway, my vote is for no stop at all levels just harder no stop for the WTC. I've got video from the SSDT that shows how to hop and jump in a section but with the added skill of not stopping while doing it. The skills are just the same and the best will always win.

VAT is the only place the government can help and there is a push in the EU to do exactly that. The extra earnings from VAT on fuel was reported by our government as being something in the region of

Heath.
Thanks for that. I needed brightening up and this really made me laugh. All the guys in the office around me too.

We'll be out again this year taking photos and video for TC. There may even be a DVD if we get round to it. What I need to know is your rider numbers. These forums are great but you never get to know peoples real names. This makes it very difficult to identify riders on the entry list.
If you provide you rider number and real name we'll try and make sure you get extra TC coverage.

Very nice but it looks like a car motor with no facility to convert the flywheel output to the rear sprocket. There's no chain fitted and I cant see where the front sprocket would be.
What about fuel? The tanks looks a bit leaky too.

I had a problem like this but not on the small bike. It was my last 300 but the fault was eventually traced to the regulator heating up and cutting out.
At least it not an expensive part even if I'm wrong. Maybe a call to GG would confirm.
I bought a few parts thinking it could be the CDI unit. GG UK take back anything you dont use as long as its still in the original un-opened packaging so I started with the least expensive found the fault and returned the rest.
Great service from a great company.

I recently bought a Sony HDR-SR5 High Definition handy-cam. It great straight out of the box but made better by a wide angle convertor. What I need help with is what software to use with it. The Sony stuff isn't that good. Any advice greatly appreciated.

As a matter of interest could a foreign national obtain an ACU or SACU licence by joining a British club and applying through that? One for John Collins and Big John I think.

It wasn't me. Please refrain from giving me a bad name, I can do that myself.

Don't confuse the E marking and not for road use. Mich's have an E marking and not for road use on them. The E marking shows they are type approved for road use in the EU (probably OK elsewhere too) and the not for road use is for USA and Canada. In fact I think it says USA and Canada beside the not for road use.
I had a job's worth MOT guy argue that the not for road use meant he couldn't issue a cert so I contacted the Technical Dept of Michelin and got a fax from the techinical director himself sent to the garage to explain the marking on the tyre.
Some of the other things that he had a hard on for:
No seat. He lost when he couldn't prove that the little rubberised sticker wasn't a seat. There's nothing to say it has to be comfortable. If there was no ducati would get an MOT.
No lights. Day time use only MOT
No Speedo. Dont need one for the MOT.
Not acceptable number plate. This one took a bit of thinking but eventually I got round this too by just removing it. There's no requirement for one in the MOT. Just take your registration docs to prove the number for the paperwork unless your first registering and then you just get the frame number on the MOT and once you get a reg go back to the garage and get a copy with the right number on it.
I'm sure there was more but these were the main ones.

What was the score Donald. I couldn't get it over here. Scotland won obviously but by how much?
-
Weather's OK here too. Pee'd off missing Craiglash though. I missed the last round too I was in Louisiana all last month.
There'll be no hot bunking in my room. Unless I can persuade a certain member of the organising committee that is.

OK I'll be first to say 300 for sure. I'm on my third one now and find it (an 06) has just unbelievable grip and smooth power. They are a handfull straight out of the box but I've never changed anything to soften them other than ride. A lot of people on here are asking for advice about how to soften the 300 slow throttle, retard ign, flywheel weight etc but why change a good thing. It takes a good few trials but when they smooth off you'll wonder why everyone doesn't ride one. If you test drive a brand new one you'll think it too much of a hand full but stick with it. By the way I've also had a 250 and a 280 so I think its fair that I comment.

You may run a good website but your planning can't be very good. You should know by now to book a year in advance. You can always cancel if it turns out you can't make it. Unfortunately I'll be there in some capacity so my rooms not up for grabs.

I dont think so. Look at the photo again. You can see where the sky has been reworked to cover up where the plane used to be..... On the deck.
