  1. That's not an "i" its a p e n i s. I'm told there are a few in London!
  2. I know when the problem is in the box or in the spring! The spring is centring the shift fine. Its just not selecting gears down. I can see from the parts book what the problem is and I just need time to get it done. I'm going in this week so I'll let you see the problem once I get there. As further support for this I can take the spring off (which I have) and the lever still only catches an up change. During an attempted down change I can spin the whole level round and round without it catching on the selector. I got an email from someone on here who explained the job as easy and gave a blow by blow account of splitting the box and its what I thought it would be. BTW He too could tell what the problem was by only reading this thread.

Scoob I'm with the others here, you shouldn't have drilled and fitted a rim lock. Anyway it sounds like you're up and running again. For anyone else looking at this thread the obvious error here is not understanding the rim/tyre combination. I've used tubes in tubeless tyres a few times without problem. The reason you don't need rim locks is the same reason you dont need them when no tube is used. i.e. the tubeless tyre doesn't slip on the rim. Why anyone would think the tyre/rim would work differently with or without a tube is beyond me. I had a leaking rim tape last year and solved it with a new one heavily coated in silicone compound. If the tape on its own didn't seal the silicone just made sure the thing didn't leak. Then on back on with the tubeless. As has been said above a tubeless repair is easy and can be done in seconds with the wheel still on the bike on most occations.
  4. This was my diagnosis from looking at the parts book before posting this thread. I happy that you agree but it still begs the main question. Do I go in there myself or do I get a pro to do it? Any help on what to expect or a idiots guide to splitting the case would be good or the name of a man (or woman) I can send it to for a good job and a quick turnaround would be appreciated.
  5. The spring is OK as is the tab. These parts only ensures the lever returns to centre which it does just fine when fitted.
  6. I have a 2004 GG Pro 300 that developed a down shift problem last weekend. Luckily I was hardly moving and right out side my shed so other that the broken bit no other damage will have been done. Its the broken bit I'm wondering about. I first thought it was the spring assembly just behind the clutch but today work proved that wrong. I now think its in the selector 'cage' as I would refer to it. I've got the engine out completely now as I need to go in to the gear box. I've never done this on a two stroke but am handy enough with the spanners. Should I proceed or get it to a pro? If I proceed what should I be looking for in the way of unexpected problems. Also are there any special tool or tricks required? Thanks in advance. BTW. The symptom I have now with the return spring assembly missing is good upshift but no down shift. In fact I can turn the gear lever all the way round and round in the anti-clockwise direction without even feeling much resistance.
  7. Toofasttim is right I broke my collar bone in 2005 helping the mountain rescue locate someone. A deer jumped out in front of my when I was flat out in top gear. Andy and I left them a sticker in responce and a mate told me recently it was still on the van.
  8. I rode bits of 2005 SSDT with xc-ting 'Fort William' trials gloves. They are slightly bulkier than the normal but not so much that they can't be used even in sections. They are fully water and wind proof but have think palms. I had a pair of normal ones I used most of the time and only really put the Fort Williams on for long cold road work and some moor crossings. I think they were
  9. More added last night. Same URL enjoy.
  10. Matt has put up more video of last years event. Follow the linky or go to google video and search SSDT. There are now 4 videos with more to come. Enjoy. SSDT 2006 Linky
  11. My good mate and brother in law has put some more 2006 video on google earth. Some top riders including Ishy with his feet up (between dabs ). Seem a bit slow to me but I think its just my connection. If you want to see more of his video search for 'Kiss The Mudguard' (KTM) Productions. Enjoy.
  12. Many of you riders will have seen two dodgy looking blokes in bright red XC-Ting rubber gear photographing at sections that other spectators couldn't get to very easily (This was me Bigfoot and my mate AGM). We went to sections most people other than the riders just don't get to see we also tried to capture riders looking there best in spectacular looking sections but still in control feet up. We did this on behalf of TRIALSPHOTOS.COM but as interest in last years event begins to be over taken by the 2007 event we feel releasing the 2006 ones will only help raise the profile of the event and TrialsCentral/TrialPhotos. Our efforts resulted in around 700 good shots. These are now available free to riders, family members or just friends. I will email all the original files I have of a particular rider to anyone interested. All I need is a rider number and or name. (the catalogue is by number so that's easier). I think I have at least one photo of almost every rider in the event and as many as 20 of some riders. These files will be around 800Kb each so for your own sanity please only request photos if you have a broadband connection. Email your requests to bigfoot@thehirds.com and I'll try and get them turned around quickly.
  13. Barry I'm not sure how long a relationship you'll have with the dealer. I tried REPSOL along with a mate of mine (both GG) and the bike just didn't like it. PJ1 was also pretty poor. I've tried plenty to other oils and they were all OK. I now use Mobil 1 2T. It is great at 80:1 and is good for a lot thinner. F1 technology you know.
  14. I've never been to a test day as I've not heard of one anywhere near the north east of Scotland but I would go to one if this changed. I wouldn'd expect much from it though other than a quick ride of a bike or bikes if I was lucky. You can never tell much from such a brief ride (well not it my level of skill). I've riden other peoples bike for short rides and even on the same make, model and year of bike as my own it sometimes feels odd. I'd look at it as a bit of fun and nothing more. I'd need a lot more time before I decided to buy but what can a dealer do? You can't give everyone a bike for the day to do what they want. I see nothing wrong with your post Jamie but maybe you expected too much from the day.

    Countries

I took this from the international phone codes index. COUNTRY: (IC) ICELAND CHANGE CODE(S): X COUNTRY: (EI) IRELAND CHANGE CODE(S): X COUNTRY: (IT) ITALY CHANGE CODE(S): X The whole list is obviously very long so this is just a little bit.
  16. Yes Just stick at it and they all break down eventually.
  17. Donald You remember asking recently about what goes on in the locked test and dev forum? Well now you know.
  18. I'm sorry I missed it but had to ride the team trial at Monzie instead. It was a great event too. I'm pleased to report that the Enduro seemed to go well from both the riders stand point and the clubs. I'll look forward to next years. There was a trials bike class so maybe I'll even ride it. Are you coming along this weekend to Craiglash?
  19. Well that would be you then Donald.

    Gas Gas 50

The wiring diagram is only half the battle but thanks I've got it from the gg USA site. It doesn't give power ratings on the magnito, rectifier or regulator. I'm worried that I'll blow the rectifier and or regultor if I just try. If I can get confirmation that the magneto produces enough power I can always upgrade the rectifier and regulator or add additional ones.

    Gas Gas 50

Does anyone know if the Gas Gas 50 can power a headlight? My son would like to ride in the evenings but with the nights drawing in he is very restricted in time. I'm not sure if the magnito provides a 6v or 12v supply capable of powering a standard GG head light. I have a spare one in the shed. If not has anyone fitted any after market light to this bike using the bikes own power. A wiring diagram would be helpfull too.
  22. Rockhopper must have got his coat.

    Ssdt 2006

Perce I've got plenty of stills of you, Matt has the video and a hell of a lot of it too. I'll PM his email address to you. I'm sure he'll get you the hi res copy of that and other footage if you want it.
