  1. Can I hear tumble weed in the background?
  2. XXX I dont know where you are in the country but I'd be surprised if you didn't have a club nearby. Just find out where your next local trials is and go along. Again I'd be surprised if you didn't find it interesting and friendly with people more than willing to let you have a wee ride around on their bikes.
  3. Is this like the fridge light staying on when the doors closed? I'm pretty sure you wasting your time on this as I've been able to confirm by cutting a tennis ball open in a dark room that there is no day light in there. Maybe if you sqeeze hard enough the blood pressure increase will create small flashes of pin light in your eyes.
  4. Our club recently lost permission to use a venue that has been use only one or twice a year for the past thirty years or more. The venue is Nigg Bay which is a very short stretch of rocky coast line just at the mouth of Aberdeen harbour. The land crossed to access the coast is council owned and for the past thirty plus years they have been happy for us to cross it. The venue itself is on the rocks between the high and low water marks and as such is Crown land not under the councils control but as I said we need to use a coastal path to access it. Two year ago a council member was walking his dog on the only day we used it and has kicked up a fuss. At a council meeting last week our club president was informed that the council couldn't allow access and sited (I think wrongly) the recent Scottish 'right to roam' legislation. They are telling us that before we can gain access we have to apply for the 'right to roam' to be suspended for the day of the event. This has to be published 28 days ahead and if anyone objects the event cannot take place. Its just not worth fighting this one for land we seldom use anyway but it could in theory have wide ranging implications for ALL other events in Scotland. If the council are right and the 'right to roam' has to be suspended it would not only affect this small council owned piece of land but ALL Scottish land no matter who owns it as the 'right to roam' covers the whole of Scotland. It would mean for instance that the SSDT would have to apply to suspend the 'right to roam' on the West Highland Way (one of the most popular walks in the country.) I just can't see that one getting approval can you? I really think the council have got this one wrong but its something to keep in mind especially as DEFRA appear to be finding ways and means of putting the screws of trials south of the border.
  5. Andy, I'd have to agree. Funny but maybe trials just wouldn't be the same if it became all professional. Maybe we should accept these odities as part of the great sport of trials and enjoy attending trials where things are different from any other event. I'm sure there is a perfect mix of rules out there somewhere but I doubt if any one club is using them all.
  6. I think Dave is refering to the scottish (SACU) trials rules. I think I'm right in saying all Scottish trials run under SACU rules are no stop i.e. stop = 5 just like the SSDT. I cant remember when the rule changed but its quite a few years ago now. I'd have to add that for a rider of my standard (OK clubman) trials have improved since. I can't do the hopping and bouncing thing very well and enjoy the challange of keeping the bike moving through a section.
  7. Balance, control and skill....Sounds like trials to me great clip by the way I agree, great link. It also answers the question in the UK forum about what's wrong with the stopping rule. If everyone was allowed to stop, hop and reverse like that we'd be queueing all day.
  8. FRONT THE FRONT PAGE: Due to the local (short sighted) council our permission to trial at Nigg Bay in Aberdeen has been withdrawn. This is a piece of land that has been in use once a year for at least 30 years but due to one council member who walks his dog nearby we have been informed that unless we jump through hoops we cannot use the land again. The effect is that at very short notice we have had to move this weekends trial to Bellwanders Wood, Stonehaven. If you read this and have friends who were going to Nigg Bay please let them know.
  9. I remember being told many times to keep looking up and ahead to master this trials thing. I'm actually still mid fall at that point but proud to be still looking well ahead. "If you look where you want to go you'll go where your looking" well I guess that I should have given up once I was off the bike.
  10. Well Mark lets see it or its link.
  11. How? Each key makes the same noise for the same pushing effort.
  12. I've seen software ones before but this one can be plugged in anywhere and then removed without any login access to the PC what so ever. I'm sorry if its old news but like me others may not have seen it and its so easy to look for before sharing at public PC.
  13. A new device has been introduced to the marketplace that is a huge danger to anyone who uses a PC that is not theirs. It is known as a key tracker and it sits between the keyboard and the PC. As can be seen in the pictures it is very discreet but is probably one of the most dangerous items of equipment to personal information that is readily available. These devices record every key that is pressed on the keyboard. Due to its position (it sits between the keyboard and the PC) the information is logged by the tracker before the PC knows about it and as such is very difficult for the PC to detect. They are available in both USB and PS2 formats so pretty much any PC can be logged. The user puts the tracker in line, leaves it there for a set amount of time and then retrieves it. They can then download the data onto their own PC. If you intend to use a PC that is not yours (ie hotel business centre, internet caf
  14. I hope so It's the only reason I'm going. Is there a trial I could ride while there?
  15. You'd think after all these years using TC that you'd know where to find things. SSDT Video Andy's now got Matt's video so I'm sure there will be a lot more to come.
  16. I was stuck in a van waiting for the accident to clear at the time. We were close to the front and the police suggested a way past for trials/trail bike riders was along the forestry road. They said is was a pretty good road used by the military pretty often. We didn't take up the offer as it would have meant leaving the van but if the road had been closed for a very long time I'm sure we would have changed our minds based on what the police said. I'd maybe go easy on anyone who took their advice and Mark maybe you should point this out to the FC in your reply.
  17. I'm about your weight and borrowed my sons 125 (2004) for the first three club trials this year. I won my class in the two of them and came third in the other. I'm not that good a rider either. I think the 200 should be fine for a starter.
  18. There should be a hole in the rim tape for the valve to go through be it a valve on a tube or a tubeless valve. For all the cost of a rim tape I'd order one and a tubeless valve. The rim tapes can be a pain I've resorted to fitting mine ones with a good bead of silicon over the spoke ends just to ensure a seal. Dont worry about the mess once its dry it peels off easily if you later have to change a tape again.

    Dreamin'

You must hold a valid motorcycle licence for the size bike you intend riding but apart from that I dont think there is an age limit.
  20. p****** about posing for photo's, no wonder he ended up with time penalites Oh and pose they did. Some bloke just rode in at the last minute to spoil the RAF team photo.
  21. I hope he took time to look around. Its an experiance in more ways than riding trials sections. Number 73 is TC's own Boofont.
  22. I had agreed with Hemmo that I'd be there to help get him out of the section. I worked great with him coming bouncing off me in the middle of a flick turn.
  23. That sort of stuff is made purely for the tourists. He wouldn't know. All I've seen Perce drink is OJ or water. Takes his trials too seriously.

    Ssdt Videos

We have stuff like this on video too. Walter Traber Swiss rider No 130
  25. This is a question people have asked in the past but to my knowledge there just isn't any on-line coverage of this event. It really is something that should be rectified for such a high level and well followed event. Maybe Andy would concider creating a mini-site off TC to support the organisers. If not I really think that they should get something done. It appears from questions on here that there is plenty of interest. I know I'd use it even if as you said it supplied a rider list, route guide and results.
