If it backfires when shutting off the throttle or going down hill then your pilot jet is way to lean, richen up the pilot jet.

You VERY carefully take off the big black cap on top of the carb and underneath is the rubber diaphragm and slide. The clip will be on the needle. BE VERY CAREFUL when putting the black cap back on you don't pinch the seal.

I totally agree with what you are saying and we should all respectfully question what answers are posted on here. However, Bars on trials bikes have went through many different shapes bends diameters etc through the years. Those of us that have been around trials for many, many years have seen the changes, maybe ask them what they have seen. You did this exactly this in your first post and then it turned in to a money saving question rather than a design/application question. Cheers.

cacao putting more oil in than spec will only make the forks hydraulic lock and take away from the initial fork stroke length.

You might try changing the fork compression oil to a much heavier weight BUT leave the rebound weight at the lighter weight. This has worked for this issue on Betas.

Steve An open connection will default to the fast map. I have taken many of these switches off Betas since they came with them on. To test this, just unplug the switch and feel what it does.
