Does anybody know what the mixture screw setting should be on a Gas Gas 280 TXT Pro 2006 with a Dellorto carb.
Thanks

Should really be super unleaded , or the highest octane you can get. I believe the engine runs cooler with a higher octane ,but I could be wrong about that but definately high octane.

I would be tempted to go along to your next local trial and try asking one of the committee members ( if he or she , has time )if they know of anybody that is selling anything. The bikes history can nearly always be verified and you will always get a ' if you buy a bike off john or jimmy etc.it will be good because he looks after his machinary' or even the opposite ' don't buy a bike off john or jimmy etc.'Worth a try at least!!

This could be the start of something big. Just think, an inter centre fats trials team championship combined with a bacon buttie eating championship as well !!Stop rules allowed , but only between sections to take on refreshments .
Also prizes for the most ambitious attempt in a section regardless of ability !!
I'll have to go now coz the nurse is on her way round with my medication !!

That looks sore !! The only good thing is, if you're right handed, it might give your eyesight time to improve !!!
Best of Luck

I once saw a picture of a guy, I think it could have been on here, who came off a bike and got his head caught between the back wheel and the mudguard !!That looked really nasty !!

In the seventies I had a Bultaco Pursang with a left hand kickstart. I hated it with a passion and swore I would never have anything with a left hand kickstart again !!
When I got back into trials , about 6 or 7 years ago, I opted for a sherco with the same opinions about the kickstart.
When I upgraded recently, I looked at the Beta and was scared about the kickstart but bit the bullet and got a 2010 Beta Evo 250.
This bike has got to be the easiest thing to start that I have EVER had. From stone cold, full choke , a bit of a fairy kick to 'prime' and then a full kick and it always starts !!
I would recommend to anyone , don't be scared and I would always have another.

Sparkplugs can sometimes fail under compression and that includes new ones !!

The frightening thing is, when Tony Bou , Adam Raga, Albert Cabestany et al finally decide to call it a day, you can quite possibly see where the future trials world champion will come from !!!

I have a NZI fibreglass? helmet and was wondering, just with normal usage, roughly how long can I expect it to last before it needs changing ? I remember reading somewhere that road bike helmets need changing quite regular, because a helmet is like an egg shell and tiny cracks appear with usage, which cause the helmet to possibly break with an impact !
So if anybody has any ideas ?

Best advice I was given, although I haven't tried it , is with the throttle stuck wide open , try and turn the bike upside down. The float bowl empties to the top of the carb and the engine will stop due to no fuel going through carb .
At the moment the engine was flat out, whether I would have the b*lls to try this is another question !!!

Its been cold this week and your gearbox oil has probably thickened a bit , don't worry . Get it warm and as the previous poster said , just work your way up the gearbox with the clutch lever pulled in or , do what the speedway lads do. Without the engine running, put it into top gear, sit astride the bike and pull in the clutch lever, pull back on the bars ( with clutch still pulled in )untill clutch releases. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeesy !!

Out of interest, is there a lot of difference between the two models ?

Is the original shaft and the gear that drives the impeller, all in one piece and metal ?

Come on , somebody must have some ideas! Is this a case of better quality wheel bearings being used ? if it is , could somebody recommend a manufacturer that I could use ?
Or is it a factory problem and the importer will help ?
Any ideas anyone ?

I bought a 10 month old Beat Evo 2010. When i bought it , the rear wheel bearings were shot so i replaced with new . I have had this bike less than 6 months and i am now on my third set of wheel bearings ( another DNF today ). I have heard a rumour that Beta have replaced these bearings with a bigger bearing to stop this happening again and it is a factory replacement if I get in touch with Lampkins.
Has anybody else heard this before I get in touch with Lampkins and make a fool of myself !!!

Trials is practically free compared to motocross !!
The next trial is at Back Cowm Quarry this Sunday 11th Sept. @ 11.00 am. This trial is with the Darwen Club and shouldn't be to difficult for a first time beginner, so if you turn up, just take your time and enjoy yourself !!
Phil

The next one for Darwen Club will be better for you. Do the beginners course and you should be alright.

Personally I would write a letter to the Chief Constable ( recorded delivery ), demanding to know why, when given the address of a thief who was known to have YOUR property ,the Police Officer did absolutely nothing !!
I would also mention in your letter that if you don't get a satisfactory reply, you will then send a copy of your letter stating the Chief Constables reluctance to ensure his officers do the job for which they are paid , to his boss who is the Home Secretary .
This attitude of some Police Officers stinks !! Sometimes it seems it is to much trouble or not 'sexy' enough to warrant an investigation .
