Glenn, I had the 350 model before I ever thought of vintage. It was the best twinshock I ever had. The Montesa`s handled better than any other brand. Parts are crazy hard. Any Ty is a piece of crap. (But there sure is a lot of parts for that crap) Let me re-phrase that. The older Yamahas were crap. I loved the mono! By the way I just spent the last two days running around on a TY175 after my gasser puked all the tranny fluid after the first loop Saturday.

You always put in back in neutral.
-
Pull the mag cover off and give a good tug up and down on the flywheel. The sherco had quite a problem with main bearings.
-
When you by pass the thermostat, you just wire it together. Is that what you did? You have to have power going to the fan.
-
The big ones you want are being reused any more. Try IPL`s local yard. With all those trees you need a fake log? Good Luck.
-
In trials you have too move. The only time I ever needed a chest protector was Desert racing. When you are running down an arroyo at 70 plus, those rocks can hurt. At 5 mph you should be able to take care of yourself. Believe me, that should be the least of your worry in trials.

I think I would find a spare to try. In all my years the only flywheel I`ve seen replaced were physically damaged. And those were all Aprilia`s.
-
What you did not include is a picture of the kick start shaft and pawl gear. This was very common on 02-04 models. There is a new shaft and gear upgrade that is not cheap. Also check the blind bearing in the case. You can get to it from behind the carb more or less.

Actually the best tool I have is my motorcycle air lift work bench.( I`ve had it for thirty years) I can easily put four bikes on the skid plate and have room to change the tires on all four bikes!
-
Wow, if after you ride it. It leaks enough to be at the bottom of the sight glass window. Is it also smoking a lot?
-
If it`s at the top of the sight glass, it is too much.
-
So what quantity of oil are you putting in the bike?
-
I think you have too much oil in it.
-
-
Are you sure the clutch is not just slipping. I remember your old posts and video. The clutch will just barely slip and will cause the problems you are having.
-
Does it not rev up at all. Or does it rev, but not go at all.
-
No and they were rather sluggish. You probably need to ride another one for comparison.

Bike Stand
Aluminum box for oil or parts.
3 feet of clear hose, that is all you ever need to bleed hydraulics.
WD-40 I buy it by the gallon.
Firm believer in Maxima lubricants.
Box of spare parts. I hate waiting for spares.
-
Remove and clean the head. Have you ever jetted the bike. Also fuel and oil play into this, as well as an over oiled air filter.
-
You could just add the number of teeth you added then cut to fit.

Fits in a tool kit, fanny back, camel bak. This has been the way it`s been done for years, or just carry a tire pump.
-
This time of year it should not be much different depending on who is riding it. Some times when a fan is just starting to go bad you can actually push start it. (Spin it with your finger)
-
Bent disc, no free play, pad issue. broken spring in master cylinder. I have also seen the lever bolt too tight and when brake used it would keep the wheel locked.
-
It`s spring out, always has been when taking a measurement. It actually says take the spring out dump the oil and refill. Remember it is a translated version.
