  1. Bars were taller, but not much more than you can get today. Going out for a ride November 1974. I could ride to our main trials area 5 minutes from our home.

Well the kill switch should not, but when people start messing with wires things happen.

Just bridge the two wires together. Should just be the thermo, unless somebody screwed up the wiring putting the kill button on.
  4. It does not matter how tall you are, foot peg and handlebar position is all the same. Take a look at Dougie Lampkin`s bikes, nothing done for his height. Your body has a proportional relationship between wingspan and height. Have you ever heard of short people raising the pegs? What is funny is tall people are lazy when it comes to bending their legs. If they would, the advantage they have over short riders is considerable.

    Evening all

It is is in the Vin. I think they had the week and year. White plastic would probably be a 1995.
  6. I have always paid attention to foot peg location compared to swingarm spindle. It seems a lot of the old bikes were forward or even with the spindle. It has always seemed to me the bikes with the pegs behind the spindle seemed to handle better. The Ossa had them behind. In fact the link I posted the foot pegs were substantially moved, but dead even in relation to the stock location vs the spindle. So actually made the handling worse as the seat was now too tall to move around the bike. Those old bikes needed alot of body english to work. That is why I suggest a better peg. I had an 1982 Montesa Cota 200. It sat in the corner of my garage for 17 years until I started riding Vintage. That bike handled well. One day I compared it to my 1976 348. Major difference in peg location vs swingarm.

    No Snap!

Could be the pilot circuit is still plugged. The pilot flows out of two holes. One in front of the slide and one underneath the slide. Are you sure both are clear?

Shifter needs to move up one notch.

Throw those risers in the trash. You are loosing all the leverage, due to the risers.

2000 and 2001 had the side filter. 2002 was the first without it. It looks like you need the carb mod done. http://trialsport.com.au/beta/Manuals/mikuni/

It is an `02, in pretty nice shape for the year. I still think the bars have just a little too much sweep to them. Could just be the brand.
  12. Oh, I would get in soooo much trouble riding that in the streets of New York.
  13. The foot pegs on the Ossa was fairly low. I would just get creative with the pegs, but I was an MAR lover.

  15. You might show location. Have you tried your dealer? Just curious why you would need one on such a new bike?
  16. Uh, did AHRMA finally change the rules. They believe motorcycles were never made after 1978. That is why we started our own vintage club.
  17. That is an oil for a car gear box. Do not use.

The Beta Rev 3 259 is a great first bike. Looking at the picture, the bars are looking all wrong for a trials bike. Nice looking gem. Have fun.
  19. Popping out of gear must be caused by all those expensive name brand oils. DexIII and I don't even have the folding tip on my lever. I only have missed 1 shift all year and it never has popped out of gear.
  20. Actually google Jim Snell video`s on you tube. That will at least have you familiar with the motor. Yeah, if you get Section Swept and Oni nou bantering. At least everyone will be amused.
  21. Hard to fix a bike on the internet. Luckily the Pro motor lubes the mains by the transmission oil. The rod can be checked for vertical movement, Should be no up and down play. They always have play sideways. The crank should spin freely, but you are turning the flywheel and clutch basket. It really should have the lower end flushed out. If you go any farther the engine can be removed without removing the skid plate. Good luck.
  22. Really no opinion? Ha, Ha!
  23. Blowing the pictures up, there is alot of small specs everywhere which usually means the rod bearing. Especially with that amount of time with no lubrication. If not the rod the mains could be the culprit. I would not just throw a piston in without some thought into what all is wrong.
  24. The bike is not supposed to find nuetral easily when running. Not fixing the fuel cap is just crazy of them.
  25. Looks like several things happened. It got hot and took out the orings on the head. Is that just carbon on the piston or metal flakes. The rings look barely stuck and I would be surprised if there is any chrome left in the bore.
