  1. Put large washers on the front fender mounts or buy a gas gas mount and front fender. I have always used ATF in the 14 Beta`s that I have owned.
  2. I have ridden Beta since 1990. Never any bad issues. Also I have always ran ATF. Never a clutch problem either. In 2013 there was a tech bulletin from Beta addressing shifting issues, which I can no longer find. On page 82 of this thread is another post back in April `13 with the same issue.
  3. Now that you have impaled yourself, your mind should always take that millisecond it takes to slow down and kick it right. 3 layers of stitches and a drain. I bled for thirty days. 1992 Beta zero.
  4. It not the threads, it swells slightly with the fuel. Total crap. The Sherco/Scorpa caps and TRS caps have venting issues.
  5. Practicing on one leg is not the answer. Are you holding the brakes on? You need to, and you balance by pushing with your legs. Peg pressure is how you actually turn too. Having someone hold the rear tire until you get the feel of it, or just rest the front tire partially on a wall. It is peg pressure and just a slight adjustment with the bars. When you get better, take time to move the bars to the left or to the right. Try to be just as good in either direction.
  6. First gear is also terribly low on the Beta. Using second more can help make up for the motor.
  7. They are not separate weights. They are whole parts that weigh more. The clutch basket and primary gear is one set. Not a removable part. Any of this is not a cheap fix.
  8. G.B. spec bikes have several heavier parts. You can find them in the parts break down. In the USA Beta sells a bike called the SS ie Super Smooth. We call it the super slow. Basically a G.B. spec bike. For 80 % of the riders in the UK, the GB spec bike is appropriate for the wet sections. The style of riding between a Gas Gas and a Beta is quite different. I love how a Gasser rides, but I score better on a Beta.
  9. So you updated to the new water pump? Or you rebuilt yours?
  10. You could fiddle and jet till 2020 and it will never feel like a gasser. The Beta is a slow motor. Now if you put the flywheel on that we get, it will go far better.
  11. Sure it is bent a little, as long as you do not have an exhaust leak why care.
  12. Trolley jack. In fact my son just left to go hunting with his girlfriend for three days. It`s funny watching a 20 year old girl get excited about a shotgun for a Christmas gift from my son.
  13. Funny since I started reading this thread, I noticed there was a pry mark on the side door to my garage. I just spent two hours reinforcing that door frame. I too believe in the concept of using a vehicle to secure a building. Being I live out in the country on the legendary old 66 highway, I have more room than most. I usually block the entrance to the side door with my Motor Home and enclosed trailer. The garage door itself is blocked with two vans. And those are all blocked with my other two vans, my 4 wheel drive truck, a jeep and my Blazer suv. Then my son has his car and suv, my wife`s truck and for some reason I cannot get rid of my oldest daughter this last year, so I have two more vehicles with her. So with too many vehicles to move and a thief never knowing who`s home, I have been pretty lucky with no big thefts. Though I am missing a floor jack this week.

    Exhaust Clean Out

Flame on the inside, just to get the carbon burning. You have to feed it oxygen to keep it going.
  15. You have to make it hard to get too in the first place (Bury it behind things) and use a couple of chains. Make it look confusing , use a long chain with multiple wraps and hard to get to the lock. Having something else to steal that is easier to take is a good plan too. Having your new bike out of sight and a cheap nice looking bike available or something else of less value that is easier to take.
  16. You never mentioned what size jets you have and that you checked the circuits. The choke has a jet too and that oring on the jet needs to be good.

    2017 Vs 2019

Kick starter. Shifting. Clutch. Water pump. Plenty of videos and the changes have been in the advertising.
  18. You did not get your manual with the bike? Go to Gas Gas SA manuals.
  19. Funny, as a Head checker, Sport 7 was more concerned about overall time then just about anything else. Kept telling me to rush them through. No body was in the Que to ride. I asked them if I was supposed to ride thier bikes for them or do you want two or three riders in the section at the same time? They already changed the events to only two loops in tbe first place.
  20. If everyone remembers right FIM had the same problem with the teams/riders last year. Friendly? Sport 7 had more issues themselves. I cannot be more explicit without adding words not allowed here. Brexit was not the problem.
  21. Starting in 2018 the standard Beta 4T is no longer the quiet sewing machine that it used to be.
  22. The Beta out turns and tracks better than the 4RT. The 4RT is amazing when the front tire is in the air. No matter what bike choice, (Repsol, 260 std or 300) the suspension is better on the Montesa. The Beta starts better. They are both pretty bulletproof bikes. Of course the ease of FI is very nice on the Cota. Their is a noticeable weight difference and ground clearance issue on the Cota. Plastics are way cheaper for the Montesa. If you want a bike to last more than a decade, the Montesa is it. Probably an unfair, but truthful comparison is I know more riders that used to have a 4Rt than have one now. Mainly the Honda lover`s stay Honda lover`s.
  23. Back to square one. The pilot circuit has two passages. One comes out under the slide, the other in front of the slide. These have to be clear and free flowing.
  24. 9 0ut of 10 times the problem of all motorcycle problems is a plugged pilit jet.
