  1. Looks like Beta fixed it for 2019.
  2. I guess you have never scratched your nose while at high speed? You have never seen the magnet remove itself from a hard hit into an obstacle? You have never seen a thorn kill the bike and the rider crashes from a sudden stop? Said device does not work properly and there is no other kill switch on the bike to turn off a high rpm motor. These things all have happened many times. Also if you lose the magnet (A bush grabs the tether and it takes off like a missile into no mans land) you now have a non running 150lb Strider. Tell me of another moto sport that uses this cheap device.
  3. The magnet type tether is a very dangerous devise that causes more crashes and points lost than it saves. An alternative devise is needed.

    Beta exhaust leak

    A little silicone never hurts.
  5. The League. A traveling TY80 Team. And they make alot of vintage riders upset. They have a better pit than most modern Teams. Ha! Ha! https://advrider.com/index.php?threads/the-compleat-yamaha-ty80-thread.574301/
  6. Yes, the 4RT can be low maintenance. But they have problems worse than any other bikes. Just read the Montesa forum. My boss has ten of them and that is why I could use one for a week. I could ride one, but I could ride a new TRRS much better. After riding the 4RT all week I got back on my Beta and won the Expert class that day, first time since 2007. Must have been the week long work out.
  7. I do, but the problem was not seeing the screen in the sun. Sure I need glasses, but most days I would just break them.
  8. Really? I do not know why anyone would chance putting on a world round. The chance if not covering the costs are too high. Ad the gentleman complaining about the costs of a spectator is easy to get around. Work the event! In fact score it so you can be in the section. That is what I do.
  9. My son has had his TRRS 300 for two months. It does everything better than the Beta. Recently I borrowed a 4RT for a week to give it an honest go. The only thing it does better, is it is a Honda. I will probably buy a 250 TRS in 2019, unless Beta does something new.
  10. They make three different bellvue springs for the clutch. Hard, med. and soft. That is what I would start with first. I think they only had the hard to start with.
  11. We rode the Ute Cup last weekend. Two day event 50 miles of high mountain single track with 80 sections. His TRRS performed perfectly, but it is a thirsty beast. Saturday was an 18 mile loop and he barely made it even with the quart bottle of extra fuel. My Beta 250 made it with no extra fuel. I will probably get a 2019 (TRRS), but need to ride a 250 a few times to decide which would do me better as I am getting slower.

    Brake help

If you have Braktec parts, then that could be your problem. Try just slowly giving pressure to the lever. Does it stop and ferl strong and firm or travels too far and feels mushy.
  13. Femi has not been on this site for a long time. Call your Beta dealer.
  14. http://www.sactopits.org/donner-summit-national-at-boreal/ Extreme riding at it's finest. Don"t miss the chance of seeing America's top talent riding incredeble sections.
  15. http://www.mototrials.com/library/images/2018_Event_Flyers/2018_CA_National_Event_Info.pdf Don't miss the exciting event. Last National of the year.
  16. Actually the Beta 250 gets great mileage and running a 39 tooth rear sprocket makes it more trail worthy. The 250 is a low compression motor, so very forgiving. The knobbies are not needed. Unless you require a seat, I would just use a fork mounted auxiliary tank.
  17. To be exact, my 2016 Beta has 6mm more clearance than my son`s 2018 TRRS 300. Now look how well the linkage is protected on the TRS.

    Evo Map Switch

Yeah. My son has a 4T and landed on the CDI and broke the mount for it far from our trucks. Best use ever of the tether strap to hold it in place the rest of the day.
  19. Use a tire sealer/lubricant when mounting. I had problems with the Dunlaps and this cured it.
  20. The TRS balances better. Has better power. Is more stable. The gearing ratio is better. The skid plate is made to protect the linkage. Oh yah, the TRS can out turn a Beta. Whiner.

    Evo Map Switch

I unexpectedly exploded the map switch in a section while riding the Nationals this spring. While splicing the wires back to a nuetral position I could not remember which to connect. I taped each wire up with no connection. Best choice I ever made. Just dumb as crap to put anything in a spot that get`s crunched. And my bike looks better uncluttered.

    Beta evo clutch

And why do they sell heavier springs? For just the opposite reason. Just take two springs out to notice the effect, but the clutch will always slip in the higher gears. A clutch needs all six springs to work correctly. It is a fine line, but my lever pull is the lightest ever. I had to do it as I cut the tendon in my index finger. The no cold stick and no clutch drag was a benefit.

    Beta evo clutch

I used springs from a 160 Gas Gas cut to fit. I have always run ATF in my Beta`s.

    Beta evo clutch

Actually the best thing I did was go to 6 lighter springs. I first did that on my 2010 and also in my 2016. No cold stick, no drag and yes it never slips.
