  3. Actually the Beta 250 gets great mileage and running a 39 tooth rear sprocket makes it more trail worthy. The 250 is a low compression motor, so very forgiving. The knobbies are not needed. Unless you require a seat, I would just use a fork mounted auxiliary tank.
  4. To be exact, my 2016 Beta has 6mm more clearance than my son`s 2018 TRRS 300. Now look how well the linkage is protected on the TRS.

    Evo Map Switch

Yeah. My son has a 4T and landed on the CDI and broke the mount for it far from our trucks. Best use ever of the tether strap to hold it in place the rest of the day.
  6. Use a tire sealer/lubricant when mounting. I had problems with the Dunlaps and this cured it.
  7. The TRS balances better. Has better power. Is more stable. The gearing ratio is better. The skid plate is made to protect the linkage. Oh yah, the TRS can out turn a Beta. Whiner.

    Evo Map Switch

I unexpectedly exploded the map switch in a section while riding the Nationals this spring. While splicing the wires back to a nuetral position I could not remember which to connect. I taped each wire up with no connection. Best choice I ever made. Just dumb as crap to put anything in a spot that get`s crunched. And my bike looks better uncluttered.

    Beta evo clutch

And why do they sell heavier springs? For just the opposite reason. Just take two springs out to notice the effect, but the clutch will always slip in the higher gears. A clutch needs all six springs to work correctly. It is a fine line, but my lever pull is the lightest ever. I had to do it as I cut the tendon in my index finger. The no cold stick and no clutch drag was a benefit.

    Beta evo clutch

I used springs from a 160 Gas Gas cut to fit. I have always run ATF in my Beta`s.

    Beta evo clutch

Actually the best thing I did was go to 6 lighter springs. I first did that on my 2010 and also in my 2016. No cold stick, no drag and yes it never slips.
  12. The results will be interesting.
  13. Turn the bike off, take a break. Get some hydration going and then find nuetral and start the bike. Repeat at the next section.Built in trainer, no charge.
  14. Top of this forum has the clutch fix pinned. I have always used ATF, even in my brand new Techno`s and my current EVO.
  15. I would look closely at the shiift shaft. The 4 strokes break the weld. I know of no 2 strokes doing this, but it makes you wonder.
  16. Just to be clear they changed in 2016, so Jitsie is wrong. I changed to Ajp and the threads were good but the fittigs were different.
  17. They changed the master cylinder.
  18. Take a good look at shifter clerance's. Also I had to do a small cut for better fitment on the shaft. Also a slight bent shift shaft can cause grief.

    engine oil

You know I sold a friends 04 Gas Gas pro 300 about two years ago. I had ridden that bike in events a couple of times over the years. He had used GM Ato trac 2 in it from new (Yeah transfer case oil mainly available in the USA.) That bike never suffered any issues. I got that back shortly after it was sold as the guy was too old to start it. He was so proud of the ultimate trans fluid he bought from Amsoil. I rode it un an event and it about killed me. Sure the clutch was nice and progressive and it shifted smooth as silk, but damn it just would not hook up quick enough to suit my riding undercut ledges. ATF is my best friend.

    Suspension

At 200lbs and you have had plenty of time to break in the suspension, there is almost no such thing as too soft. Mainly as stated above keep track as to what you have done. You can easily take a turn or two off the rear spring. remember that it is very important to have the front and rear working together. And most importantly test in real riding situations. I have done that to myself. I have a pretty good playground set in my yard. I had played with stiffer settings and thought I had the bike set just right. i got out on a steep hillside and my bike was bouncing off the rocks and not hooking up at all. Of course it was in the middle of an event and I am out there making adjustments on the loop like a fool.Good luck.

Nebulous is just too shy. How much do you weigh and what is your riding style and class? Comepletly stock bike?

    evo main bearings

Myself, I just got 6206 c4 bearings and opened them up. I went ahead and got the Beta seals along with the gaskets. This sealed main bearing thing is BS. That is what the 2 stroke oil is for.
