I've been offered an old Suzuki rl 250 by a friend, it's been sitting in a barn for 17 years!!!!! yes it actually has been in a barn for that long!!! i don't want it as a serious competitive trialer just a bike that'll do it all if i want?
It wants a resto really, but it runs fine it was started last week for the first time since it was parked up by the farmer.. i'm trying to find out what its worth?
Its the old red and silver RL it still has all the lights and switches but the headlight looks like it seen a bit of action, the lamp is ok but the cover is all bent, he's even got the original log book off the farmer! 1 owner from new, just the farmer..!
It is a bit of a scruffy beast but has got the makings off being a nice bike again. it's on a 'T' reg registered but is probably a slightly older model sold on later..???
Help me value it before i pay to much???

I've tried loads of times to place a classified ad here on trials central, but when i try and log in it keeps telling me my log in details are not recognised???? even though i can log in and out to the site fine?!?!?
I must have tried about 10 different times to place an ad, and it always says the same junk!! help??
-
It could'nt be sorted yet, or they would have been out by now!!!
Imagine if they could bring out that 4 stroke thats super light, reliable and start hot or cold and be sensibly priced??
they'd clean up!
-
With the recent price increases you'll be lucky to see any new monts!!!!!
-
-
How did you do at the trial????
-
i'm not sure i think he had it last week of november?? it must be about 30- 40 hours i'll have to ask him, hes usually out about 2-3 times a week.
-
The throttle set up on the carb is quite exposed, but i've never had a problem with mine!!
The sprocket is big the only thing i found is its close to the swinging arm and if a stone gets in there it put a stinkin silver scrape on that lovely black sprocket!!!

my mates evo 290 has just had to have a new wiring harness due to an intermittent no spark fault!!!! but its an awesome bit of kit!!
-
Move the footpegs back to the rear holes, and turn the handlebar clamps to the rear offset.
It lightens up the front end and helps with grip!!
and make sure you put semi synt oil in it not fully synt!!! it helps with the clutch.
You'll love it, they are an excellent bike..

which one, the rock trial near port talbot???

They have'nt gone belly up, just looking for investers the same as gas gas had to do a couple of years ago to get them through a tight financial time!!
this is the statement from scorpa-
Dear Customers,
As you may know, it is a complicated financial time for a lot of companies. This has been brought about by the difficulties in the banking world. Our company has been obliged to take action to safeguard our operation. We have therefore asked to be put under the protection of the French law. This prevents any attempts to disrupt our production for initially six months, but with the likelihood of indefinite extension. This arrangement is similar to the one you may have heard of in the USA called

I'll be happy to see some xispa's out there, why don't people just stop slagging them off, i bet they'll be good bikes they gave it a good review in the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE.
More trials manufacturers the better!!!
-
yeah the build quality wasnt that good back then but they got better every year, they were an excellent bike though.

Buy a scorpa 250f just ride it with no issues and has loads of power and revs like a beast, and has awesome suspension!!!
The 4rt has got a junk sump gaurd footpegs and hangers, so you have to change them and they foul/eat plugs and you have to let them warm up until the fan kicks in before you can ride off, but they look cool and ride well.
I've heard that some of the sherco 3.2 4 strokes are still having some hot start issues, nice bike though and the lightest 4t.
Have'nt heard anything bad about the newer rev4's apart from it's grief to check the valve gaps.
Try and get some rides on the bikes.
-
It will take a while to fully adapt to a 4 stroker!! but they are sweet!
-
That looks like a good mod.
-
I had this happen on an 03' sherco 290!! Real scary!
It turned out to be the throttle cable had been pulled while being transported.
-
I think you should change your name to COLUMBO!!!
-
i think your right!!
We told razor he needed a 125 or even a rev80!!
