What a relief!!!! I am not losing it at all! I could not scroll to the far right of Billy's picture to clearly see Francois. Never would have missed that. I remembered Gary and Eddy, but not the names of the rest until you labelled them.

Tex (aka Francois):
How the heck are you??? if that is in fact you,not Billy T starting a fake account. I dont think he has ever done that, at least for about 4yrs or so......M4RT!

Have a good one Hammy too!

Hey Copey:
back in my Fantic/TMI days, we used to fly around the country in Chuck's twin engine Navaho! In 87, we took all the back seats out of the plane and strapped in my bike. Just the pilot, Chuck as co-pilot, and little ol me and me bike in the back, flew from TN to KC to do one of Bernie's trials schools.

My advice to you is to get a 26mm OKO carb! Just put one on my 200 and it totally transformed it! Wow. You can PM me if you want any further info.....

In my opinion, the Beta 4t is the best 4stroke trials bike out of the box! Lighter than a Mont, reliable, starts good, and very fun to ride!
-
Down to the club tonight to do some cleanup, and must say that I am very flattered and humbled by all the kind comments from everyone who rode the trial! Honestly have not done anything different than in past years, but sure nice to be part of a big club again where more people appreciate it. I guees being at this sport for 40yrs is starting to pay off!!

Some pictures of the event can be seen at www.westcoastcaptures.com and you will see the results of a freak hailstorm that hit the event.

If you go to www.trialscanada.com you can see the write up and results from the first Round of the Outlaw Series

Jean Luc Nictou??? or was the first answer correct?

I think I came up with an idea that will level the playing field a bit at WTC. perhaps back at the beginning of the 2000's when we heard rumours of the FIM mandating 4ts, this is where it would head. As you read it, take in mind that I dont want 2ts to go away and do in fact think they are superior for Expert riding! ( except Bou's and Fuji's bikes).
What if every WTC top level rider had to ride a production 4t trials bike? Honestly after riding 4t's for quite a few years now, they are fun no doubt, but way harder to ride on some stuff, especially really big stuff. I still think Bou would be world champ, but if everyone had to ride a production 4T bike, it sure would help in easing the sections a bit, and maybe bridge the gap a bit too..... just a thought!

$$$$$ is the answer why they dont do it! And, I feel the difficulty level is so high, and that the top 4 or 5 are so much better than anyone else, unless you can get paid to go to the WTC, and put in the time to even try and get as good as them, how is it possible? The whole scenario is a bit of a catch 22. In the 70's, 80's, 90's, and early 2000's, a good National rider from almost any country, could enter a world round if it came to there home country, and not feel too out of place. That is getting further and further away. Except of course for the hub of Europe with the big country's, ie- spain, france, italy, UK etc.

Enduro riders crosstraining on trials bikes???? Wonder why? Could it be that every top Enduro or Extreme enduro rider in the world right now is an ex- trials rider! Now less people are riding trials, especially younger riders who are good, because they actually have a chance at making a living, riding extreme enduro, at least in North America, but I think its probably true worldwide.
Nigel, I actually think that current and past champion trials riders should be starting some sort of discussion group sanctioned by the FIM, over a lengthy period to monitor and see what changes need to be done to get the numbers up again. Its not a simple solution by any means, and I sure dont pretend that I know all, or any answers. Surely the prices of current bikes are a contributor as well. I think Ishy has raised the point on here many times, that if someone offered a competitive air cooled entry level bike at half the price of what they are now, they would fly off the shelf. The bulk of worldwide riders who buy trials bikes, are miles away from National and International skill level, and would enjoy the sport equally as much as they do on modern 8K priced bikes!

I still consider myself a rider, albeit getting on in years. I have been directly involved in trials in Canada for about 40yrs. My son is an up and coming rider. I have ridden most of my life with some sort of stop allowed and sometimes no stop. I totally understand where Raga and other top riders are coming from when they complain about the new rule changes.
But, I do understand that at this rate, the sport is not sustainable. FIM is being forced to try and make changes to find a way to get more people involved in the sport, which will help sell more bikes, which will afford the factories to spend more money on the sport. Its all intertwined. Any importer or manufacture surely must know by the numbers, that there is a problem.
I do not know if no stop is the answer, only time will tell. But, we should all put our energy into trying to figure out what the answer is, instead of moaning about the changes, when in reality we just love trials and riding trials bikes. It may take years, but I say at least the FIM is recognizing the problem and trying to work at it.
I would be interested in hearing what someone like Dougie has to say about it.....or Jordi, Colomer...Michaud.

We have one of the top bicycle trials riders in the world that lives min from us! Awesome guy, and amazing to watch on a trials motorcycle. He sometimes rides moto as well, and can hop a bike around as good as anyone. Unfortunately, this isnt riding a trials motorcycle. It will only take you so far, at some point you have to be able to properly ride a bike. We will see what no stop does good or bad.

What calendar day was that pic taken????? April 1st?

Only two weeks to go now for the first round of the popular WTC sanctioned Outlaw Series for 2013. This year see's our event return to familiar ground at the property of the Victoria Motorcycle Club. The Outlaw series also counts towards the WTC provincial championsips.
As usual, the format continues with Day 1 being for twinshock bikes only. There will be an A class that will ride Intermediate lines, and a B class that will ride the Junior lines. Its always a great time, and the weather looks to be great! ( My son and I out finishing taping all sections this weekend in 20C temps)We hope to have the best turnout of twinshock bikes we have ever had this year!
Day 2 will feature all of the modern classes we normally run, from Junior up to Expert with an emphasis on fun, straight forward traditional type sections!
