  1. What year bike? Is this a dellorto PHBL? It sounds as though you may need to inspect the float height setting and clean or replace the float valve if it is leaking. Far as I know the float arms should be parallel with the bowl surface(when inverted) on this bike as is the norm for dellortos unless someone knows different. Amm or so can throw things off. Also be sure you got a fresh spark plug in during testing. Hope that helps
  2. I am no fuel chemist(i wish we had one here)but thoughts being once the alcohol reaches its saturation point and separates from the gas, it is effectively removed. I think the problem comes in where the effective octane of the fuel is reduced proportionatly, as the alcohol is a proper anti-knock additive and proportioned to the fuel blend to achieve the stated RON or R+M/2 rating. Just how much I am unsure, yet ventre a guess of 2-3 points on the RON with a 10% ethanol blend.
  3. Jeez Billy, You only know I'm listning if I say "ay wot" or in Texan "Eh (or) Waat (or) Huh"! I just say yes or ok if I did not manage to get anything, then go on, then ask later! Kinda like a corporate board meeting where nobody understands what is going on anyway!
  4. Did I catch in there somewhere they are "yorkie"? I have watched this about three times now trying to catch the slang. Got most of it now, it's as bad as Andy's Scottish best I can get. Mind you, I often struggle with some US dialects as well.
  5. Jetting will not change your oil ratio. You really need to just burn it out first to rid the excess. Hopefully it is not too fouled. Excess oil is not your friend, as we run 80:1 ratios in the pro bikes, and fact is most punters can cet by with as little as 100:1 with normal ops which is only 50ml as long as no roadwork. The excess just bungs things up, and will still accumulate if you do not blow it out upon occasion!
  6. Tha seems reasonable yet optimum depending on the route and speeds. I would back that off to around 12 to be on the safe side.
  7. When you state you are allways having to clean carb, why? Yes, water will wash dirt through the intake system and into the motor, yet most carb problems are fuel related in the sense of clogged jets or water entry into the bowl. This does not enter through the air intake system usually, but from the fuel inlet and the bowl vent(s).
  8. Think twice! As stated, first thing is just to let it burn off. This to me is just common maintenance, as the crud will allways accumulate/ nature of the beast. There is no"once and for all" unless you leave the motor shut off or for get the premix oil, in which case it won't run long. What oil and hou much you using?
  9. If it is an SY(yam engine) take it every time!
  10. Nice bike! Don't wash it without bunging the air filter hole. Other hints and tips abound within these threads. Read a bit on and you will find most anything you need in fairly recent posts! Cheers, MC

    2012 models

Too late, as it already has dirt on the tires! I could take a grand off as used now!
  12. I am too lazy to comment! Yet you would be shocked to see some of my stuff!
  13. Could be, but I would first ck to ser if anyone knows for sure, as does not seem common practice. Try Splatshop Chris or email RYP in the US just to confirm, as tolerances here are critical. I have heard the later mudguards will fit, with modification. To what extent I am unsure.

    Rusty Stator

Yea, obviously you are old and out of date. You need that crap wich corrosion inhibitors. It looks to me like that RTV did a good job of sealing the water IN. One can still see clean water droplets in the pic! Know what that means, don't you!
  15. It may fit, yet I cannot recall anyone doing a conversion, as seals are pennies! Add one still has issues of wear on the shaft, so other than possibly a bit of warning from the weephole(if it's not bunged up) little advantage.
  16. Stuck in the head today! Still good after all the years! Geez, when was that?
  17. I wish! I have one trip to FL planned for this year, driving! If I am able to make Training Days at TTC is still in question.
  18. I would say get right in there and walk the sections with the riders if you can, like you were riding it. Gives you good perspective in reading the sections and planning where you want to go. Then observe it in application. Just get out the way of the bikes when the section is "hot". Ask questions, introduce yourself, observe and understand. Most are quite helpful.
  19. It does the bike well toget some heat into the exhaust like this and burn/ blow out the crud. It is rather normal and a good thing. Some bikes are soo loaded with grunge they seem to light off and start billowing smoke. Not to overdoo it, but getting rid the crud can actually save you a repack!
