  1. A couple of things here: Getting back to the original post, running the Boyesens you may find you need to lean the main jet quite a bit in order to rev out cleanly. As an example on my '07 I had to drop from a 118 to a 110 with the dellorto. This is with the timing set back a bit for smoothness, but it would clean out and rev to scarey highs! So much so that I actually went back to a 115 to limit the revs. Point being, you may well find a need to lean the kiehin main as well running the boyesens. With reguard to Clav, I find it rather interisting your settings. I have not ran my K since the '05 2.5. I did try it briefly on the '07 2.9, but it was just to much power across the range, specially where I live, in the lower revs. And although I do believe the K is a far better mixer, it was just too much for me on the 2.9. Which brings me to my point, as mine was setup with a 45/125 setup, a JJH needle and a 3.5 slide, needle in mid. Oh, I can set she screw and it runs fine, just too much! Makes me wonder about dropping all the way to the 35 pilot to choke this thing down a bit, a big jump. I can always deal with a main jet later, as I seldom go there at 3/4 and above. As I have not attempted such wide swings, I have been hesitant, as it is sometimes difficult to turn a racehorse into a jackass, and visavie! Thoughts?
  2. Steve, I will take any excess beer! You well know the cautions, yet I fear the lad may have not endured such , it is serious and requires constant monitoring! If you get thirsty, you are behind the curve already!
  3. A wealth of info there! Good to see! Clav should probably state" for old and slow, stick with your dellorto"! possibly add muddy events and slick conditions! Go for it Clav! My opinions only!
  4. Once again, I feel mush less stupid, as I was looking for such and never found it on Wayne's!
  5. Yes, the larger the number, the larger the flow! But there are lots more to it. As mine was tuned softly for the wife, you may indeed find a bit better power with say a 36 or 38 pilot jet, i have not tried ! Mind you, the current comments were for a different year bike and the porting is different so you may not achieve the same results. Some of this also varies from bike to bike, and carb to carb! All this is called TUNING! Done in small changes to check your results! And you will need to adjust your fuel screw setting with a change in the pilot jet! The main jet really takes effect at 3/4 throttle on up! Too big will be difficult to "clean out" but too small will limit power! If you never ride at wide open throttle, a tad rich is ok and can actually help prevent damage in the case of a spill and stuck throttle, as example, i seldom hit WOT on a 2.9. Yet on the 125, I can pin it to the max and apply second gear on a near(not) verticle 6-8 ft rollup wall, and the bike would go with standard gearing, barely! If I had a better gearing, it would scream up all the way! These are all tweaks for personal pref as well, and you are the judge! On a 125 there is only soo much, and you have to use it wisely!
  6. I think that is a big(really big) deal for young master Fracy! Great to see it, and I just hope the heat does not overwhelm him! Fluids, water, and then some more! You too dad! Start early, end late! Drink MORE! and not beer! Well maybe a little, later, you know! Say camelback!
  7. No Idea, Les ramrods all that and I don't go cause I have no kids riding! Call him!
  8. Biff, you need kids!
  9. Happy B-day Zipper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Ythan, Having owned and ridden a 125 of that vintage for several years(wifes bike) I can tell you a few things. Number ONE: a 125 is fairly gutless right off the bottom! If you let the revs fall below a certain point it likely will not pull! Technique is different on a 125! You must apply throttle first, then regulate power with the clutch while keeping revs in range! A change to a 46-48t rear gear may help you keep your revs up and make second gear more user friendly. Just rev the crap out of it and go! The gasser guys do this as they have no torque off the bottom- none! I seem to recall the jetting at 32-33 on the pilot and around 118 on the main seemed to work, twith the needle in third groove down and about 2.5-3.0 turns out on the mix screw. Once warm, you still need to rev them out for a good clean run-up after plonking. Riding a 125 well requires more skill and better tecnique! Practice is the key! Seems the later Shercos have a bit more off the bottom, but that has never held back anyone! Your properly operating clutch is your best friend. And a shortie(standard )lever to start, then a medium or long to get a quicker pop when you need it as you have more room for finger feel! Hope that helps!
  11. Did I tell you this is why I would rather go riding? I do not get near as dirty!
  12. Just a tad over two meters!
  13. I believe there is a decompreccor on the cam that works at low revs, so smooth strokes on the lever work better than quick prods!
  14. Do we have a "hang loose" icon as per your brother? Maybe not, well, just relax and be a good boy! Enjoy the ride! It is OK! Maybe we can invite you down to Tish over the winter months, things can be arranged!
  15. Chris, I should and will offer you the oppertunity to get even this year, and as usual I have no idea who is riding what!
  16. I hate it when people beat the crap out of them like that! You would do less damage with some slip joint pliars covered with a wrag than beating and warping them. Get a proper pin spanner! And take the weight off the wheels when you do it! Or find someone with the proper tools!
  17. Maybe I can get this linky to wowk! It shows Smage about 3/4 the way through going a 5 footer with NO run, just the front sitting on the kicker! Go practice That!
  18. Tis a bit of an annoyance, what does it say?
  19. Wow , that was soo nice I had to watch it twice! So it is OK on the 3-4 foot drops! Sounds good too, got a little flywheel weight to match! Are you sucking in bean oil fumes there Jay?
  20. Of Wayne and Aaron? Happy fathers day, glad it quit raining! For now!
  21. Ah yes, the first RM 400 "the Killer" was my first big O#2! What year was it? I cannot remember. Maybe '72- '73 I must have been about 15 at the time. Anyway, at the time I was riding 125 EX on a Penton, and there was this small local track we would visit on off weekends. I was in shape, and back then you could ride up a class, so I ran the 125 in all three classes for a good days ride, 125 EX, 250EX and Open EX. You could literally finish one moto and det a drink, wait for the Nov and Int to start, then go again! I do remember that it was a long hot(100f) day, and after getting the wins in 125 and 250 and trading motos with this nut on a big RM the first two motos, it was down to the last moto of the day! And I wanted 3 for 3! He got the holeshot(again) and I had to pass a couple of riders to work up on his tail. It was a tight track and the old RM was sideways everywhere he punched it. I just had to play catch up in the corners as he would roost me on the straights. Not far before the finish, there was a switchback with a 5ft uphill jump coming out of it giving good lift, so in the last turns of the last lap I went for it! We came out of the switchback side by side and hit the jump. And about 6ft in the air we hit! I got soo crossed up I had to plant a foot on the landing and BAM there went the left ACL and a few bits of miniscus tissue! OOOO #### 2222 that hurt!!!!! I thought I was done, but I think it scared him just enough to back off just a second, enough for me to complete the last two turns on one leg. I could not even get off the bike without help! I think cutting off the leg would have been less painful! A few more knees and shoulders later, a few more Cz's(250), Maico's(450 and 501) and Husky's(450) later, not to mention some Jap junk, and a long layoff between about "84 and 2000, here i am! Somewhere in there I forgot how to really ride! Body does no longer follow the mind! Then comes the O#2 again! You know that funny feeling you get when you are just a mm away from going over the bars? I get that a lot!

    Tyre Pressures

Bigfoot makes me feel much better, as I have come to like the lower pressures, just need to use some care on the sharp rocks! The front rims will bend rather easily! Your pressures may change by a pound or more as the tires warm up!

    Hmmmm.

Unfortunatly, our modern world is not that simple! No one seems to have any common sense! Our lives are being driven by oil and insurance companies while we have consultants to give us solutions to problems we never had. I probably could not import a Euro 4 standard diesel van that got 30mpg if I wanted too because the Cali queers have not approved them and probably never will! I cannot drill for oil or refine it because of the same lot of envirocrats! To build a shed behind the house, I need a council approval followed by a SWPPP plan, pay them off so they can drink coffee all day, hire a crew of mexicans to install a 2ft fence to prevent errosion and does nothing but agg to the total cost! If I want to run electricty to it, that costs extra! Nothing can be produced here at a reasonable cost, due to the costs of the "crats"! Even Japan has to sub everything to Thialand or China or somewhere there is cheap labor and less regulation! I could go on for days! Lets talk about foreign policy!
