  1. …. Your alternator outputs AC power and this is the device that converts AC power to DC so that DC devices can use it.
  2. 4 wires and connected to the DC fan motor would make it a rectifier. Overheating of that component would indicate too much current input, too much current draw, or a short circuit somewhere. You need to test everything from the alternator to the fan and thermostat and lights.

    EVO 200 MY 23 ?

A friend bought a beta recently and took possession before noticing the kick start is on the left side, great bike if that works for you.

    Breather pipe

Rule of thumb is vent pipes go up, drain pipes go down. Add that trials bike transmissions should not have a source of positive pressure, even a Montesa 4RT has a transmission that is separate from the crankcase oil. If air is being pumped into your 2 stroke transmission it must be leaking past a crankcase seal, which is not intended by design.
  5. Remember that any fuel you run in your internal combustion engine is a very strong solvent. Race fuel is very close to being paint thinner.
  6. Fill all of the middle 3 rows of knobs with carbide grip studz, for the 2 outside rows of knobs you can use sheet metal screws with crazy glue to hold them in better, the front tire works good with carbide grip studz on every knob in the middle row and for the rest of the knobs run sheet metal screws. Don’t leave any knobs as plain rubber or you will crash. Goal when riding on ice is to stay on the pegs 100 % of the time and spin the tires as little as possible, avoid bare rock surfaces and aim for the ice, logs and frozen ground for the best traction. Don’t ride in double digit minus freezing weather or the tires will crack and the knobs will fall off. 😎 it’s a blast and great practice, you won’t regret it. You won’t lose any grip studz but some of the metal screws will fall out and need replacement or reinstallation. Needs something like 300 studs for the rear and another 100 for the front, buy the sheet metal screws in bulk packs of 1000 so your investment will be somewhere around 800$ canadian I use worn out trials tires from the previous summer season and those last one winter.
  7. Lawn mowers and chainsaws have carburetors with a diaphragm fuel pump instead of a float bowl, needle and float. In the case of a chainsaw that is so it can operate on its side or upside down. The carburetor on a lawn mower might have a float but holds less fuel in the float bowl where it can evaporate and distill into solids. If your carb float bowl is full of green stuff, that is the copper parts in your carburetor oxidizing, if it is full of white powder that is the aluminum parts oxidizing and if it is full of black stuff that is what is left of the rubber o- rings.
  8. This site is as good as any for a start 👍 start a thread dedicated to your location to seek out riding partners.
  9. If the problem is affecting all of your small engines? The typical solution to deal with water in fuel is gas line antifreeze which consists largely of isopropyl alcohol. You can’t really ‘stop’ the nature of ethanol once it is added to the gasoline all you can do is add more alcohol of a different nature, petroleum distillates or lubricants having a different chemical composition in the hope to address a specific problem. If all else fails try race fuel instead of pump fuel, bearing in mind that all ICE fuels are solvents of some kind.
  10. If you ever want to know what is in a fuel additive the best place to look is the MSDS data sheet for that product.
  11. LCD operate off a backlight ( white light source behind the display screen ) if the display flickers that is the backlight flickering. Check all your electrical connections are solid, if the backlight can be removed replace it, if the backlight can not be removed for replacement you are likely needing to replace the whole thing. Hope that helps some.
  12. Ethanol being basically corn alcohol is more likely to be prevalent in fuel produced in North America. The problem with ethanol fuel is its ability to contain up to an equal volume of water and still be considered ethanol. Oil and water as we all know does not mix and many of us premix oil in our fuel to operate in a 2-stroke motor. Here in Canada we obtain much of our fuel from the USA but unlike most of the USA we live in a moist climate that experience huge temperature changes that cause condensation. Several things become a problem as a result of all this, for one we are potentially paying outrageous money for buying watered down fuel, two we can experience water separation in the fuel which can cause problems in the engines and three is freezing temps that can cause ice. Literally ymmv.
  13. The link you provided answers your own question, pump gas is ‘government mandated’ to contain ethanol, your only options are race fuel or fuel intended for aircraft because you can’t use ethanol in an airplane.
  14. Plus one on using a higher gear if you have been using first gear, first gear is way harder to control 👍 sorry to hear of your crash injury, I know how bad ribs hurt.
  15. Omg that’s 3 grand Canadian plus shipping lol that won’t be happening, doubt I’ll ever get to see one in the wild.
  16. Cool! Looks expensive, let us know if it works any better then the factory competition modification
  17. Google says 46 and 55 mm by rights the wrenches should have been included with the original motorcycle purchase, so you might want to ask the person you bought the bike from or another rider who has extras in their tool box.
  18. Things about old twin shock trials bikes I don’t miss; brakes like leather, cable operated clutch and bruises on the inside of both legs from smashing on the top shock mounts.
  19. The P means projected. Does the projected electrode extend further into the combustion chamber and closer to the piston than the correct plug? If yes then you risk burning a hole in the piston crown by using it.
  20. If I had a bad rear shock on my trials bike, I would replace it with a new one. Around here the enduro riders drop that much money on having their brand new rear shocks modified by SSS ... I'm trying to imagine the Mississippi area riding terrain and it keeps starting out like a muddy Saskatchewan 🤔 post pictures once you can 👍
  21. I service forks a Lot both my own and to teach other riders, once you've seen it done it's easy but messy. The fork slide bushings are what you are trying to keep good and will require regular replacement. Keeping the slide bushings good is key to keeping the fork seals good and there is no oil filtration so frequent oil change and cleaning will keep the whole fork lasting longer. Aftermarket slide bushings frequently need to be file fitted, don't just slap them in expecting them to fit, they likely will be too tight at the gap. Clean everything just as you would clean a gun.
  22. Coming from enduro bikes I honestly can't see the motivation for someone wanting a diminutive displacement trials bike. Riders coming from enduro sports even wear protective gear 👽. You should be using the trials bike to develop your control skills and learning to ride the pegs instead of the saddle and bars. Small weight and size rider on a trials bike is not a problem, bikes all weigh the same and you move around on them a lot if you a re doing it right. Don't grease the wheel bearings, replace them, makes a huge difference in the bikes handling and braking performance and the bearings are as cheap as bearings come. Buy the bearings from a local bearing supply and buy their best one if there is an option.
  23. Trials boots, you need them. Don't try to make due with your enduro/MX leg casts. Going super cheap on boots and the bike investment will give you a good reason to dislike trials riding. Get a good trials bike, learn how to ride it and then you can make lots of hill climbs the enduro guys will struggle or crash on, it's great fun.
  24. Found this a moment ago: "installed a tiny 12V Lithium rechargeable battery into the airbox 🔋 and a switch to turn off/on. Now when I hit the switch, I can hear the fuel pump energize and kicks first kick no problem every time."
  25. Look at it the other way around, they use ethyl glycol in brake applications so a failure does not result in oiled brakes, if it was not for that fact they would most likely be using mineral oil in all the hydraulics.
