We fill the oil drums with concrete..they dont move much then..and we use big old truck tyres..and yep..railway sleepers are great..so are huge rocks..but both of those are probably gonna be pricey.
Good luck..wish I had a bit of land at the back of my house
-
no worries ...pleased it worked out.
Should be fine for a while now!!...thats basically the only prob. I've had with my Beta
-
I allways put 500 in...(have been doing so, with NO problems for 2 years)
MOSTLY..because I buy my oil in little 500ml bottles, that have a handy spout thing on them for ease of pouring in.
-
Thanks trialsrfun...thats all really helpfull advice..and if I do need some new nuts (might want to rephrase that)..well you know what i mean..I'll let you know.
Many thanks
-
Blacky...did you fix it??
Just wondered how you got on...and wondered which gasket would turn up if you just mail ordered one?
-
Yep..they are blind holes...HOPING to get mine done next week, so I'll let you know how I get on.
THanks for you further info on the grease thing bob...and HondaRS..so I'm still confused...maybe I'll try copaslip in one fork leg and normal grease in the other... see what happens.
SURE though..I'm not gonna put another bolt in DRY
-
woops sorry..just re-read your post..having speed read it the first time.
So you didnt stick with the originals.
Ah well....maybe I'll be the only boring fart that sticks with the originals!
DOH!!
-
Thats good to hear RIck 1....so I'm not the only one with that problem...and will take your advice.
Also pleased you stuck with the originals...
I'm a bit of a stick in the mud, where thats concerned..I really like my bike to look original.
I also noticed at a world round last year that Kenichi etc were still using the original pegs on their bikes.
Maybe they have too though?
Cheers
-
thanks trialsrfun...that IS a good tip..will give it a try.
kinell...I thought you liked your Beta
-
hee-hee..PA...doh!maybe I should've looked at the control ones too..but I just like to keep my bike original...will try looking closer at the footpeg hangers though, in case they do need a little straightening or something...but from a quick glance they looked OK
-
bigsaint...I echo HondaRS advice
I would strongly reccomend looking at the Scorpa OR MAYBE a MOnt, since they seem pretty bullet proof too...and it is easier to find a long range tank for the MOnt.

Hi all,
Was just trying to fit some replacement footpegs to my Rev3
(original ones!)
After putting them in, they seemed VERY tight and would not spring up on impact. (which of course is what you want.........right!)
SO..my questions are...
Is this normal?
Do, I just wait for them to wear in?
Do I need to file down the inside of the footpeg hangers?
Do I need to keep my old BENT pegs on and give up spannering?
THanks in advance for any help
-
Hi all....couple of things.
I also have one broken inside craftypiggy!!..gonna get my mate to take it out soon. I think he said he'd use one of those drill and tap things??,...the thing with a reverse thread on it?
I reckon the welding thing that HOndars said is probably bettter though.
ALSO...HOndaRS...I bought some copaslip for use like you suggest..but then, just after I bought it, someone on here said it shouldnt be used for steel/alloy areas, since it can chemically react??
DO you know anything about that? 'cause Id like to know if I should use that or just regular grease?
-
All good points ALan..
and a reminder to all those out there that feel they're hard done by...most of the factory workers in China, are on about 1 USDollar per day..(thats the word on the street here at least)
AND they probably have to work all hours of the day!
-
Hi blacky..
if you look at my last pic, you will see the old (original) gasket is one of the regular "paper" style ones.
The new one, in THIS pic, is the one I mentioned that is kind of rubbery with a blue ridge all around it.
I would try NOT to use this one....it didnt last very long for me....probably my bad worksmanship..but it slipped out really quickly...so I changed it again...back to the old fashioned paper one, which hasnt moved since.
Hope the pictures make sense...good luck..

well said bob..
forgot about the water...you MUST drain that first. Drain screw found on water pump casing. No need to remove the pipe, it will just bend to move the casing to one side for a while.
Just found a pic of when I did mine...as you can see, I had to remove the bash plate also..which is probably the hardest bit of the job.
I also used a few very small dabs of silicon to hold the gasket in place whilst putting the casing back on top of it.
after draining your coolant, you will need to replace it with 600cc's of coolant/water mix
-
totally agree boofont..but it wont be TOO long till the quality starts to improve also.
These workers here are "mad for it" and work their a**es off!
I guess it will be a while though.
Thought you'd get more of a backlash for that comment Marky G!! ......theres still time..hee-hee
-
Yep...dont think it will be long till China is making a trials bike.
Those little pit bikes are fun eh!..and lots of those little kiddies MX bikes are made in China.
I've been to a couple of trade shows in South China...and you might be a bit miffed if you know how much a dealer can buy them for
MInd you..after shipping etc tax etc...I guess its fair enough......thats going on prices I saw last time I was in UK
-
Dr Nick...
My 2002 Rev3 250 has a 42 tooth rear sprocket..and that was the original one
-
Blacky...I THINK thats where we'd all assumed it was leaking from anyway!!
The clutch cover..is just the round bit, which has a very large rubber o ring type gasket....in my limited experience, that one rarely leaks, and if it does its very easy to change.
The one I"VE been talking about, which I think is what you are on about now, is NOT a nightmare to replace, so DONT panic. You do of course have to take the kick start off, and on the earlier Rev 3's you have to remove or at least loosen the bash plate, so that you can remove the bash plate rubber, (allowing you to get to that bolt we all talked about,..which is normally hidden by the bash plate rubber)
I think on your model, it is not hidden.
GOOD luck.....let us know how you get on.
The new gasket you'll need is fairly cheap..I got mine from bvm-moto.co.uk
-
yeah you're right bob...but somehow I still manage to catch it on the rocks!
Rev3 guy..next time your here..come and have a go...pretty good place(s) to ride in HK.
-
Yeah ..forgot to mention that. AFTER I had this problem I also drilled a hole in my skid plate rubber, so that I can keep an eye on that now NOT hidden bolt, and check if its coming loose.
I notice the 04 Rev I think..or maybe 05 has a slightly different skid plate rubber so that the said bolt is NOT hidden.
Good old Beta..they obviously listen to us all!!
All they have to do now, is countersink the rear bash plate bolts, and I'll be happy, since mine keep rounding off/coming loose on the rocks!
-
Theres a few of those still knocking around in Hong Kong.
GOt to be the quitest bike I've ever heard. Shame Honda couldnt have made the 4RT that quiet
-
Hi martinh
sorry I missed this post for a while.
Thanks for your advice. Sounds like Wye Valley might be the one for me.
Will try to check if it has a website or something. Hope to catch up with you in a trial at the end of year then!
-
Did he give you any free advice...or just have a good laugh at your expense
