Wishing that the drivers in the US were better trained is just fantasy. Reality is that they don't share the road, that they are poorly trained (if at all) and tend to kill each other and anything in the vicinity. Surviving on the road in the US is only accomplished be defensive driving. When on a bike you have to use any means to make sure that you are seen, heard AND are able to escape. This is why bicyclists are easy targets for cars: slow moving, silent and can't escape. I wish it were different, but it ain't.

I have heard this is the way to go. I haven't yet... but I will soon. As for the Michelins being too slick, that's a new one. From what I understand the options currently are: Tubed: Michelin IRC Tubeless: Michelin IRC Dunlop (There may be others but those are the only ones I'd consider)

I think by "new" they mean "unused" not as in "showroom condition". Plus it's ebay, so I'm just surprised when any words are spelled correctly let alone used correctly.

Michelin still makes the tubed tires. So does IRC. I've been told that you can put the tubeless Dunlops on with a tube, but I'd probably not want to take the tire irons to it myself.

BP5ES I can't stress enough to get this exact plug. As for hard starting, and it runs if you get it started... pilot jet. Which model Bultaco is it? Which carb is on it?

The Harley is iconic, the sound is patented. Then there is the philosophy that "loud pipe save lives". This probably make less sense in civilized countries where motorcycles are commonplace and the car drivers are more accustomed to looking for them. That is not always the case in the US. Sometimes (most of the time) a driver won't know a bike is there unless they hear it. So that's the theory. Sportbikes are less concerned as they can actually maneuver out of the way unlike their larger cousins...

I would try the recommended plug first. And get the exact one as listed, not something similar. NGK B6HS

If you are looking for a cheap solution I'd suggest getting the stock system working. That has to be horribly less expensive than either a electronic kit or hacking something up. As for converting another model to the TY you need to check the flywheel for compatibly.

Prolly float. Any gas in the float? If not check float level. Anyways, that would be my guess.

Check points gap. Check points. Condensers can be bad from new. So not unusually to replace what you think are good ones.

Could be bad ignition or just the wrong plug. Or too much oil in the fuel (is the automatic oiler still on the bike?).

Did you try the dealer? They have a shocking amount of parts for the old stuff.

That sure looks like the Sammy Miller Exhaust. If you need a shield you probably don't want to: 1. Ride with shorts on... 2. Learn to not hug the bike with your knees... This is my uncle's bike, I thought I had a better picture of it.

Proper hydration is essential. While you may not get the hot, dry weather we sometimes encounter it's still important. Camelbak style packs help when you can't get back to the pits soon enough.

Once the pushrod is out and you have a clear angle, you can look all the way through to make sure nothing is up there. 5.5mm is what the parts book said, if you can wait a few days I'll be pulling the primary drive side apart on my M92 and can give you an exact measurement of the associated parts. I'll take pictures of all the parts and you can compare.

Model 91 As it is I just picked up a M91-92 Parts book... Part Number 159-010 From what I can tell a 5.5mm ball bearing. If you don't want to go to a Bultaco dealer any bearing supplier should be able to help you. I just got done putting my M92 (the 350cc version of the same bike) so if you have any questions it's pretty fresh in my mind. I didn't tear apart the engine but have mental scars from the last Bultaco engine I was in.

I can look in the part book later tonight and see if it says what size it should be. I assume it's a Model 49?
