  1. What do the serial numbers say? Or aren't they given. If I were to guess I'd say a 151 or so. 1975 sounds about right.
  2. I have never heard anything positive about Kreem. I tried POR-15 in a fiberglass tank or two. That was a mistake. And that mistake was mine. It probably works ok in metal tanks. For fiberglass I will only use Caswell's epoxy.
  3. I assume that since his club is listed as Berkhamstead, North America may not be ideal for a rebuild. Not that I know where Berkhamstead is but I'm thinking it's not in Kansas...
  4. Actually I retired to the motor coach before getting soaked.
  5. The crazy thing is the amount of calories/dollar that are in those things. Two Big Macs per day could sustain you. Now the fat and sodium might kill you but that's the risk you take...
  6. I think we can forgive you for blogging here. Fortunately it's not a punishable offense. While at Eugene someone asked me why I wouldn't be racing at the P & C. Surely my bike was old enough and didn't have reeds. Alas, someone had the wisdom to move all Pursangs to Sportsman. So, once again I'll be regulated to the trials. Looking forward to plenty of Derek's awkward sections. Always more entertaining when the off-camber crap is slippery with rain. Is it illegal to have spiked tires in trials?
  7. It hasn't gotten smaller, you have just gotten bigger.
  8. I think a TY Manual (factory) is available online for free. Pretty big (multiple files) and no, I don't remember where I got it from or if I still have it...
  9. <sigh> Darn kids don't appreciate the old bikes...
  10. A good rider on a KT will beat me on a Bultaco every single time. Lord knows it's happened a million times to me. The difference in bike usually only makes a difference with the better riders. For someone at my skill level a well running bike is more important than the best-bike-ever. As soon as I find a Bultaco that I can outride, I'll worry about getting another bike. I don't recommend anyone hold their breath.
  11. I no idea why this statement is starting to make sense... If someone else on this site is butchering a TY80, I'm not sure why the abuse inflicted on this TLR would be any different. Now, for the first helpful advice I can give, did you try the Honda dealer for the front and rear sprockets?
  12. Oh, I just has to do this. I tried to match the photos up but without an exact reference point, aside from the fence in the background this is the best I could do. It's just for fun anyways. I just want to say that I agree with everyone's opinion, that KT frame is much better suited a scrap metal. Be sure to click "watch in high quality" for more details. Enjoy. Oh, and Michael, I hope you don't mind me stealing your photos...
  13. Who cares, it's pure entertainment for all of us...
  14. Well, there is two ways to think about it. Do you want it as good as it came from the factory or do you want it better? It not like folks with modern trials bike don't modify theirs.
  15. For some reason I want to say that Bultaco went to the better steel around the Model 158 timeline. But I could be wrong. I will say that the side stands must bend easily as the ones on both my Sherpas are "not straight". I don't know why anyone would put any load on a bike when it's on the side stand. At least the kickstarter is situated that you would be hard pressed to start the bike whilst it was on the side stand. Although I wouldn't put it past an enthusiastic owner... I always cringe when I see big Brit bike owners starting the bike on the side stand.
  16. Eugene was a blast. The track was fun, long and dusty. I'll have something on YouTube in a while. I just hate when I have to choose WHICH motorcycle event to go to. Decisions, decisions... To be honest I was a little apprehensive about Lolo. I knew I had less chance of crashing into some rocks at Eugene, although the blackberry bushes were none too inviting. I'll get some more trials in shortly as we have the Classic back at Chehalis coming up soon.

From what I can tell Dennis is 14th (out of 44) and Team Oregon is 17th (out of 70+ teams).
  18. No one is going to get in a tizzy over forks and wheels.
  19. I was also going to suggest that if the threads aren't too far gone that you may be able to do something with a thread file. How to use a thread file.
  20. There was? I will? I believe the two choices were Sammy Miller in the UK and Hugh's in the US.
  21. I'll send you a link for a whole owner's manual... wiring diagram too.
