Sport going too far in my opinion, I would even get rid of the Minders. Man and machine against each other, point being you can get a really good minder that is a definate advantage over the other competitors, bordering on outside assistance!! so your not on a level playing field. I know technology should move forward, but the WTC is suffering with this with so few competitors competing in each class. It is getting like Formula 1 and look at that procession, turning the clock back will never happen, but wouldn't it be great if we could get a little bit closer to where our sport used to be, but that is a whole new debate! I wish I could have radio communication with my other half, at least I have the control to turn her off then

Just ordered a print from trialsphotos.com Andy has managed to catch me ''Feet Up'' on a famous section in this years SSDT Anyway just wanted to say what a fantastic service, easy to order, confirmation by email and delivery was promt So you want to know what the quality was like well pretty damn good, not bad from a guy who has a full time job who also knows a bit about Photography. So my suggestion (and I am not on a commission) is if you are lucky enough to have your photo on their or you want a gift idea of one of the 'Top Boys' then get ordering, I can recommend it.............. Anyone else ordered or going to and not sure how to? I am sure Andy would like some feed back!

Good Ride from the Brits again in a tough event: Dougie on the podium and James only 2 points of a top 6 Browny on form seems the others were riding a different Trial and a massive well done to Lee Sampson Ross well done for another podium finish.. Lastly who can stop Bou this season he seems to be getting better and better

The organisers have been getting it right the last few trials and definately looked at the weather forecast, as it P***ed down all day and got the sections spot on, good rides and some bad uns not the same as the Scottish, but back to reality. Used Repsol in both gearbox and engine never had a problem in over a year.

Put a strap round the circumference of the tyre, round the middle knobbles of the tread pattern, and tension to expand the bead to the rim, blow it up with an air line to pop it on the rim.........Job done

Think from the 'Poll' it may show that the spectators want them harder after all it would be pretty boring watching 270+ riders making the specator groups look easy with many cleans, they want to see the top boys make the 'what looks impossible' look easy! The riders on the other hand may have a different view? The poll at the moment is showing that it is mainly riders that are voting and it is showing that more people think it is fine as it is!! however this year was tough in the sections. Agree with ishy first part of the week was hard, Monday due to the weather, it would have been murder if it had stayed like that all week, but we were blessed with reasonable weather and the moor crossings were relitavely dry so made the going fairly easy. After several years up there it is still hard to explain to a spectator just what those moors are like, unless you have been there, but they are energy sapping to say the least. This is not saying that we need less moors, the SSDT is unique and we as riders have the privilage to ride across the best terrain in the world, if us clubbys could drive our vans to the bottom of a group I am sure we could do better, but I am not advicating that! the challenge of these moors combined with increasingly tough sections is in my opinion not a good recipie? The history of the SSDT back in the 90's when all the top factory riders used to ride and S**t it was tough then and under the stop and hop rule, they used to struggle to fill the enrty 160ish one year, ''some silly old sod'' (Not bad sections you found there WD, God Bless Him) decided to cater for the majority and not the minority, made the bold decission to make it ''No Stop'' the rest is as we know it now. The bulk of the entry is clubman riders and in all fairness how many riders were capable of winning it from the entry list, maybe thats another debate......... So that is my two pennath, maybe make the spectator groups tough thats what they want to see and that will sort the winner out lets not forget the reason the winner stands on the podium is not only because he has had a good ride , but managed to keep his concerntration going for 6 days they can easily have a slack 1 or 2 on easy sections that will loose them the trial, and a few more rideable sections for the majority. Garbage Bin is maybe an example, nowt wrong with the original, good ride for a clubby if you manage to stand on the bike but in a whole load of trouble if not, so the new bit at the top would have been fine if the rest of the day wasn't so tough, just an opinion!! Mark has asked for feed back which he is getting and I am sure he will take it on board, the trial needs to stay in the same format and with a few tweaks will make what is the best trial in the world even better!! Just how do you then Ballot 600+ entries

Do you know where Glasgow airport is? 3. Who is map reading? Taking into account you have number 1 sorted, weigh in is Sunday and the trial starts Monday so 2 & 3 could be a problem

Yes they are now, but if it is Pi**ing down with rain (happens quite a lot up there), it is better to carry your time card in a plastic bag. This will help the observer write any delay timings clearly so there is no dispute later. You will not be happy if you look at the results the next morning to see you have incurred time penalties through a time card they struggle to read.

Kinell

It is personal preference how you wish to get round each day in the SSDT, whether it be strap the lot to your bike or carry a camelback/rucksack. The rucksacks came in several years ago, everyone was in those days strapping most to their bikes and carrying a bumbag, but the first to carry a rucksack did get some strange looks How things have changed. One of the problems with strapping everything to your bike is that your bike is not what you are used to riding week in week out, this can be a bit off putting when you tackle the first few sections on Monday. Personally I go for the Camelback option as you need plenty of fluids out there and the last thing you want to be is de-hydrated, tools and spare gloves in it and the bike with nowt on it Watch the regular riders and look where they dump there camelbacks as you can save youself a load of time on some groups by picking it up on the way out. Good Luck on your first SSDT, you will wonder what you ever let yourself in for at times, but you will enjoy it...............
