  1. hi all i also need to renew mine as ive finally got a bike and wish to compete, someone has told me i can pay online but i cant find the right section on the acu web site, am i misinformed (and is only post only) or can someone send me a link, thanks
  2. probably because they rev higher and harder so require more oil.
  3. im guessing its just me but nowadays im completeley unable to find a copy of tmx, i usually get it from our big tesco or asda but asda has stopped selling it and tesco only order 2 copies, sometimes theyre on the shelf on thursday afternoon but usually friday, so its hit and miss if your lucky enough to get one, i know whsmith will do them but it means driving and parking in town, i'm just wondering where everyone else gets it.

    Observing.

what happens to the riders that break down in remote parts. i've always wondered wether they needed someone on a quad bike with trailer to ferry them back, i'd happily volunteer if my quad was 4wd. hopefully my new one will be.
  5. sorry i forgot to mention that you cant actually see the tank as its under the plastics like most farm quads so it doesnt have to look good at all. i just thought fiberglass would be an easy option. if i weld it i think i'd have to blow nitrogen into it to prevent rust forming and petrol vapour ignition, has anyone else welded a tank before.
  6. perhaps there has been amendments to their policy that you should be reading, after all they do govern the sport
  7. im looking for some advise with making a fuel tank from fibreglass. my cheap chinese quad (sorry this isnt a trials bike) has developed a split in the tank. this bike has been very well looked after and has thus served me 3000 miles with no faults untill now (tho i realise you get what you pay for). i could just weld the tank up but i like the idea of making one out of fibreglass, the metal one makes noise with vibration (probable cause of the split) how easy is it to recreate a tank. i can use the fuel tap and cap from the exsisting one but i've no idea how to take a sample for the shape. any advise would be most aprecieated. ps unfortunately you can't buy new ones for these.
  8. i just took my rover diesel for its mot. i always change the oil and filters, then give it 1/4 bottle of redex to 1/4 tank of diesel and thrash it on the way to the test place. does wonders for the engine and passed with .95 rating (your allowed up to 3.0) but im sure it would fail if i diddnt do all that as its a smokey tractor normally

    08 Beta Stator

i'm hoping to buy a beta as i prefer them the best. if you buy a replacement stator are they the same as the one that broke or are they making better ones. is it something you could change when riding out or a strip down job.
  10. Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM. dvla
  11. i emailed him last night and said ''does it come complete with the bike for that price'' and he responded ''Hi Get someone with some inteligence to read the listing for you, then you may understand it !'' he even spelt intelligence wrong.

    Tyres

my first trials bike was a ty250 that i used for gathering sheep on the fells (on my dads farm in lancashire) where the quad couldnt get. i put a spikey front tyre on because the front wheel was always slipping away on hill sides. it was great for wet grass and mud but awful on anything else.
  13. i've never owned one of theses so please forgive me if i'm wrong. most bikes use the same principles. the front you just remove the axle pin by loosening the bolts and sometimes unscrewing with an allen key. drop the wheel and on the caliper remove the pads. they usually only held on by one place so just slide them off. undo the master brake cylinder on the handle bars and push the piston within the caliper as far back as it will go. insert new pads and rebuild wheel as removed ensuring the pads sit ok on disk. then pump the brake till the pads have no spongyness left they shouldnt need bleeding and may need fluid filling/removing. the rear is exactly the same but more akward as you have the chain and the caliper often slides within locators. make sure you check the brakes before riding.
  14. just a suggestion, you could try a new plug cap, ive heard they can give problems.
  15. sorry to hi jack, but if you want some wheels and other van accessories look here , they do more things than whats on the website.
  16. i'm a ref engineer, if my boss would pay the 3000 pounds to put me through my corgi then i'd jump at the chance as this would guarentee me work anywhere. i dont really understand how you can refuse to do it if this is what you do for your job as its a legal requirement to have it when working with gas (natgas etc).
  17. i can see your issue, after serving a 5 year apprenticeship i was doing the same job as the other engineers but still being payed peanuts. then i resigned with a better job offer so they payed me more to stay. for the last 3 years now ive handed my notice in and each time recieved more money to stay, it was a win win for me. in order for me to do this i've had to do all the training thrown at me and worked harder than expected. i might be a mug but secretly the company doesnt want to admit how vital i am. its a pity your pension is tied but if you refuse the training (which im my job is often nessesary), in an extreme example could you not loose your job and pension?.

    Lime Green Beta

if you were thinking of painting the plastics you could try the (tamia) aerosol paints that are used for painting plastic bodyshells for remote control cars. its designed to flex and is resistant to fuel, water etc. its about 3.99 a tin but you,d need about 4 id say. you can buy it from most model shops and there's loads of colours to chose.
  20. i ride at 'the desert' as its known (clipstone woods) near mansfield woodhouse. its a massive disused quarry about 5 square miles with hill climbs forest and sand dunes etc. the police rarely make a show and put tickets on the illegally parked cars but if you park sensibly you'll be fine. theres even a butty van at weekends. i must say it is tresspassing but it doesnt bother the other 50 plus bikers that go.
  21. the torch battery is always flat when you go to use it and if i loose a tool whilst working with many i always forget to check my pocket before emptying the tool box.
  22. sorry for this to sound dumb but what stops the air coming out of the spokes every bike ive had (be it old ones) has always had an innertube.
