I just bought a 64meg memory card for my camera and...as usual ....put it in and used it without looking at the instructions(no comments please)
I took loads of pics with it and they all went onto the card no problem.
I`ve come to download them to my PC and it wont show them.
So I took the card out and connected the camera back to PC and it read the internal memory fine.
After reading the instructions I found that I was supposed to format the card first before using...but I could still do it now ...in case it was used by another camera...but the memory would be wiped
I formatted it as instructed and it did wipe it .....so took more pics ....and after clicking "removeable memory" it still wont read that there is anything on it.
Anyone help with this little problem....I`m sure its just me not doing something properly, like setting which memory to search for ,or something like that

I`ll be going to a place called Toulouse later on in the year....working .....but I should get a day or 2 off , so thought about going to watch a trial or 2
Is the trials scene only small scale in France?

3 people I know ride gas gas bikes...all 2004 models
they have had new gas gas bikes every year for the past few years
before that they have had various other bikes ...their comment on gas gas is.....gas gas are much easier to ride and do trick riding with because they are light ,but with that comes the expense of regularly buying new parts... if you wanted to keep a bike for more than a year or so ,the mont is the best because it is stronger, with a bullet proof engine.

Are muddy conditions worse than dry dusty conditions ???
Apart from the obviously thicker coating of crud that covers the bike in muddy conditions.
I have ridden in very muddy conditions but I find that dust seems to be worse.Where I ride is very dry and dusty and with the very liberal spraying of WD40 all over, the dust sticks to it like a fly to flypaper.
It can ,and does get everywhere ,which will include all the bearings and create an abrasive grease, which the pressure washer gets water into. Its even worse on the chain with the build up of dust on it.
Maybe its just the type of dust that I`m riding in ,which is a cross between sand and mining slag
I check mine at every wash

No problem RVM....just that my wife wanted to see a pic of me in a crash(there were quite a few) so she could have a good laugh
I was even crashing between sections ....good job they dont have observers there

Well done to the organisers of the TC trial .
and thanks to the observers to
The trial was a bit hard for me as it was my first ever trial and showed me up for the rider that I am....which is rubbish
My car took a bashing aswel as my bike ....the car down those country lanes on the way there ,and my bike on those Yorkshire rocks in sections 1,2and3.
Took a different route on the way home to save anymore damage
Had a great days riding..... though...I dont seem to be on any of the pics in the gallery actually riding ...My wife is asking if I rode the trial ,or did the sections scare me that much that I only stood and watched
Perhaps I`ll be on some of Andy`s
I never got one of those elusive TC Polo shirts...but hey....theres always next year
Kinkyboots....well done on winning a great prize

I`ve been using Ipone ,the red stuff that smells of strawberries, and because it says "synthetic"on the bottle automatically assumed it was fully synthetic oil so mixed it at around 75:1.
I have since found out that it is semi-synthetic ,and should be mixing it at 1.5%...or 50:1.
Maybe that didnt help the bearings any

Picked my 98 Techno up today after having new mains fitted.
Had a quick chat with the mechanic about looking after the bike ,and he gave me 2 peices of advice
1- After drowning it ,always make sure you start it again within the hr ,to stop corrosion of the mains
2 - use a mix of 50:1 with semi-synthetic at all times
Is the 50:1 mix a tad to rich ???? I`ve been running it at 70:1 ,and when he showed me the old mains ...it was frightening.
Not to say that running 70:1 was the reason they failed ....but maybe a factor ???
anyone got any veiws.
BTW - I also found out that its got 95 Techno footpeg brackets fitted, apparently they put the footpegs another inch further back for better grip

I was using NGK plugs in my bike (98 Techno) and it had a slight knock.
Bought half a dozen Champion N7YCC off the internet as I cant find them round where I live.....and it cured the knock

The one and only time I tried to do the back brake on my Techno it took days and days of trying different ways (system on and off bike).
When I used the syringe method , I used a vetenary syringe first (about 50ml) but that cracked under pressure after a while(a bit like I did doing the job)so had to get another ,but I could only get hold of a small one (10ml max) I found that the syringe was what was causing lots of air bubbles ,every squeeze of the syringe, lots of microscopic bubbles,I ended up with a brake ,but like windlestone,it kept bottoming out on the frame.
I got a mechanic to do it for me in the end...best

Anybody know of any trials clubs or shops or riding areas around the Toulouse area of France.
I may be going there later on this year to work for a while and would be interested to know anything trials related around the area.

Took the bike to my nearest dealer today (an hour away)- He said some bearing or other was knackered ,on the left hand side (whatever that is).....they are known for it apparently.
After starting it up he told me to touch the footpeg ....you could feel the vibration of the knackered bearing through it ,even though it didnt feel any different from when I first got the bike to me.Maybe it was knackered when I got it.
I`m going to be

Gotta agree with you Stu...had an NGK in my bike and was knocking...got a champion in now and was running great ,till my bottom end problem.
when its fixed it should be like a new bike ....maybe time to sell it for a newer model....then again......

Charlie - I took the barrel and head off to change the gasket and o rings .....because it was making the "metal on metal" grinding noise, and assumed it was because it was overheating due to a coolant leak(it was only 2/3 full when I checked it).
while it was off ,I gave everything a clean and reassembled it ...I always try to be meticulous(sp) after having a replate ,piston and rings last year.
when I started it up ,it sounded just as bad as it was the week before, but after only 10 seconds ....not after about 10 minutes like the previous week.
I do remember a while back though ...my wifes car did the same thing when a front wheel bearing was shot .It made the same sort of noise after driving for a while ....when the bearing had heated up with friction
so I`m going along with that at the moment ,until someone can check it properly
Thanks for all the help everyone
Will update when I find out exactly what it is

On that note Ishy - I`ve changed the clutch oil a few times recently and found a few bits of metal stuck to the magnet on the drain screw every time ....could this be why ?????

Clarkp - No i didnt change the rings ,but had the head off again and everything seems ok in there,Even the conrod doesnt seem to have any play up and down.
still awaiting on the "3rd opinion" on what it may be ,till then I`m going to twiddle me thumbs
just had a new phone,so working on how to work it will keep me busy for a while

Following on from my previous post about the cooling system on my 98 Techno.
I stripped the top end down and replaced all the gaskets and O rings and checked everything out ,like the waterpump was working properly.
While I was at it ,I changed my clutch fluid (again) ,filled the cooling system with the correct amount of fluid and gave the bike a general clean up ready for a ride today, then stood back and admired my work for an hour or so.
When I got to my practice area the bike started second kick and sounded great...then it started with a metal on metal grating noise after only 10 seconds.I quickly killed the engine and pondered on what I had done wrong the previous day.
When I got it home I asked a mate to give me a second opinion ...started it up ...grating noise straight away ,sounding like bits of metal loose somewhere flying about
His opinion - Bottom end is knackered
He`s going to get a friend of his to give a third opinion ....but listening to it ,I dont really want to start the thing up again for fear of causing more damage.
Is there any way af checking if the bottom end is knackered without starting it up again
Is putting a new bottom end in ,as difficult a job as my mate made out (ex Motocrosser) or is it quite straight forward.I have no experience of this so have no idea .
As always ...any help greatly appreciated

Going to have to get me some of that stuff beta boy......most of the original coating has come off due to legs rubbing on the frame by the footpegs.
little parts ,like the front wheel spoke nipples and front/back brake banjo`s (joint of pipe to caliper) rust in front of my eyes in wet conditions .Bike looks terrible when this happens.Been out looking for a decent cleaner ...one that cleans and protects ...like a wash and wax for cars, but cant find anything like that .

Nice looking bike Beta Boy....Swap the decals and plastics and it could almost be my 98 Techno .....errr...I dont think
2 questions -
1st - What is that black tape you got on your frame near the footpegs and engine
2nd - Why have you fed the breather hose off the carb through the mag cover by the chain
