  1. Clive good job ! Thumbs up. Copie i'm in between breaking something so i'm riding the sherco in the garage, are you still standing or did you just fall over ! And have a 2010 coming. Ok Copie , you need the smelling salt. Having a blast.
  2. If you take the end cap off the stock rev 4 you'll see it is sealed, the factory accessory muffler can be repacked.
  3. Wes enjoyed riding there let me know next time i'll bring a chain saw to help. I have been asked when one of the top riders is passing my way sometime after Christmas if he can stay at my house a couple of days and if i'll take him out to practice in my area, i'd like to take him there. It would be a treat for the land owners and a few locals to watch him. Probably take him to Langly also.

    Change the oil with synthetic with the recommended amount and wt. Install a new oil filter and get a spare there cheap. Clean the stainless steel screens one on each side. An owners manuel is very helpful and get a hold of a service manuel it's priceless. I think you can view the owners manuel at the factory wed site and maybe beta.uk Enjoy your new ride !!!
  5. As you call top hats I use a couple of screw drivers opposite each other and take my time. There is a small wire clip that holds the bearing in, so don't go at it with your trusty sledge hammer.
  6. The NATC meeting is still going on, schedule is subject to change, and it has. I'll wait till sundat night to see were everything falls.
  7. Shack was running 2 less springs ! I road his bike two years ago and the clutch slipped very badly, I asked him what he had done cause sherco clutches are pretty tough. He said he was told that the clutch would have a lighter pull if he took two springs out, sherco already has a light pull,I laughed my A off. Cost him over a hundred dollars to fix it. If you are a light weight and ride easy stuff you might be able to get away with taking two springs out. What Cope said on roughing up the steels will work on helping brake the stiction. But the fix came from a local guy named Larry in Sandsprings, Ok. , he uses a thread file on the fiber plates buy putting a couple of score lines in each square of the fiber plates it will release when cold, doesn't slip. Everyone around here that has done this has been happy . It just takes time, yes time ! and as Cope would say a few light cold ones. Cope I want be in Okla either I have to go to a wedding.   8. The plates are sticking together as posted by suction. Copie if you are going to be at the Muenster 2 day i'll explain to you how to fix the clutch then you can type it out.

  10. Not sure on the weight savings I think a couple of pounds, Sound up just a little but still quiet. It has a straight thru core in stead of making several bends so it flows better. Adds a little power all the way across the board that you can feel. Go for it you'll like it !
  11. The key is he's above 6000 feet the slide can not over come the spring in a CV carb. There is less atmospheric pressure, so when you open the throttle the slide can't open correctly. It will come up part of the way and then no matter how much you turn the throttle it will not open but part way and make you think it's in the jetting- the jetting is only part of it and you can chase it all you want and it will never work correctly till you get the proper spring in the CV carb. I have rode my beta 4-stroke at altitude with out the spring kit and was NOT happy (around 7000'-9500') so I know the spring set is a must ! And have rode at altitude with the spring kit it works ! Once you have the spring set you want have to move the jetting very much from stock. If I remember I was around 117-120 main, and down one or two on the pilot also it was a 300. I know stock at my elivation around 800' it needed jetted just a little so i'm with you on that one Ralphy. At 800 ft. I ran the second or third spring for a quicker reponce.

Since he opened the door for you i'll chime in. Yes the bars are adjustable in three positions, center would be like stock and one forward and one back, about 15mm each. I feel they offer a better bar clamping surface and just dam sexy ! Would I buy them again ? in a heart beat. Ralphy, better
  13. Copie, I think you better site down ! Ok- are you sitting ? I was on a two stroke ! and -O- i'll tell you the rest later cause it would cause you to have a heart attack. And your to much entertainment for that. At 13500 feet it would be spring #5 ! As light as you can get.

  15. Sorry Pete I just seen the above 6000ft. What you need is the spring kit for the carb, it is a must have option. The kit consist of 4 or 5 springs, allowing you to tune the CV carb. The stock spring is to stiff not allowing the slide to raise properly, less atmosperic pressure. It makes a big differance !!!!!! Get a spring kit you will be happy.
  16. The Jitsie screw only affects the bottom it has nothing to do with the top. Have you moved your needle ? If not move the clip up one slot to lean it, you will find there is also a thick and thin plastic spacer on the needle that can be used to half step the needle also. Go down on the main one or two sizes. The bike could use more air flow but I want go into that. The factory has a Ti pipe that works really well, adds a little more power all the way across the power and let's the bike breath. The stock pipe is really quiet but chocks the bike from reving up. The 2010 Evo uses a differant cdi I believe to help the mid and top power, I may be wrong and am sure some one else will chime in to help you also. Loved my 300 evo.

  18. If it's the cone spark arrestor that RYP sold for a while give them a call and ask if the have any replacements. That's the only cone spark arrestor that i'm aware of.

    Yes there is a small spring,,, Just use a small short screw driver i.e 1/8 x 3" there is NO screw inside just a plunger, you will be pushing again light pressure , you will hear it make a little click sound that is the plunger moving in the ratchet. If the bike has kick back or you wacked at the kickstart lever and then you hear a rattle there is a small chance you may have broke a tooth off. But first things first try what you think then move on. Feel free to P.M. me. If you can get your hands on the motor service manual it is very helpfull, Beta did a very good job of putting a lot of info in it.

    If it is your cam chain , on the right side of the motor ,on the back of the cylinder you will find a 10mm bolt, remove it and insert a small flat blade screw driver and push it in until light resistance is felt, reinstall bolt, done. Very easy to do. If that doesn't fix the sound it maybe time to run the valves. Now a rattle could be a broken tooth off the idler gear next to the kickstarter gear.
