  1. Copie you may light enough to get away with 4 clutch springs but I wouldn't recommend to anyone that weighs very much cause it will slip. I worked on a friends Sherco cause the clutch was slipping, when I got inside to look at it he had taken 2 springs out cause someone told him it would be easier to pull. I laughed and said here's your bill for a new clutch cause he waisted his. He weighted around 200lbs.
  2. On the Beta easiest way I have found is to just buy the stock factory packing it's preformed and takes only seconds to swap out, it may cost a little more but it makes up for it in time & hassel free installation.
  3. For carbon try Lewisport - for plastic contact Beta usa or your local dealer should be able to help.

    T D N Usa!

I thought Will was out for school so that put Chris in. I was told this a couple of weeks ago.
  5. Copie you are cheap ! time to unclinch the cheeks. Yes Ray did ride one national on a Beta 80. He ended up 4th in the expert class that day, he wasn't ust to the 80 and flipped the rear end over the tape in a couple of sections. The 4-stroke does carry a $$ penalty if you don't take care off them and a rebuild will cost more, no way around it there is simply more parts. Cope if you come to the Duluth nats i'll let you have a go on my 4-stroke.
  6. Hensley search around on www.natctrials.org and you may find some of the answers you are looking for. I believe the split is something like $60/$40 don't remember which way. As far as what the natc does with the money that's their deal and I guess you would have to be in the circle to know the details of natc expenses. I believe the money is used for the good of trials. John If I don't see you in Duluth then i'll see you at one of the central regionals.
  7. I think the 3 day event is a good thing. There was only two locations this year cause no club realy wanted to do one and as far as school is concerned the dates are when the 2 clubs said they would do them. Rides are luck that there was even nationals to ride. What would be nice is 3-3 day nationals and the best out of 6 count for support, that way you may have a choice of the 6 you want to ride. Look at it this way you those who compete in the series only have to drive to two places not 4 or 5 which would add to fuel cost, motel, food, wear and tear on what ever you are driving. I have been riding the nationals for the past 10 or 12 years and have and idea of what I spend each year, all I will say is $$$$. Putting on a national is a thankless job and a strain on a club, THANK YOU to the clubs Colorado and Duluth !. And yes $200 is a steep price, I think an extra $25 is more reasonable. We are lucky in this area we have a very good series in the central region !
  8. Hensley I hear what you are saying ! I have asked many years why does the natc charge double for late fee's and the only real reason I get is to discurage late entries for lagistical reasons like paper work. I believe the club gets the extra fee. Those who show up and pay double now must have some deep pockets. I know many riders in my area who wanted to ride a national but couldn't make the 30 day dead line because of work or other reasons and said that there is no way they would pay double. I've seen entry fee's go $50,$60 and now $100. I have been told that if there is more than 6 nationals next year Maybe the enrty could go down. I showed up in Colorado to helped the team and will do so in Duluth, I look at it this way I saved $600 this year. As far as a non comp entry I don't see that happening as it will effect the time of other riders that are competing and that wouldn't be fare for them. And don't forget ! that not only are you paying entry but you will get hit with a land use fee when you get there at most nationals and that is not advertised until you get your entry info back and that has been running $10 per day so add another $30 per rider.
  9. Like Cope said there is a real neat kit that will work on 5 or 6 differant size bearings cost around $60. I use a small tourch and carefully heat up around the hub, use the bearing tool and they come out real easy. Takes about 5 minutes to have both bearings out and back in. Right tool for the job saves time.
  10. Wayne hasn't worked for RYP for several years but does maintain a good relationship with the importer. The 08 4-t sherco is a vast improvement from when it first come out.

    Beta 4t Video

Jon, If you listen to Ray's bike in the video you can hear it breathing thru the air box, he has opened up the air box cover and rejetted. My 300- The 300 kit comes with a smaller main jet, that's all I have done as far as jetting, works great. I have played with the cv carb springs and went with the next one softer from stock but stock works just fine. The aluminum pipe let's it breath and sounds good, not loud at all. You'll have to have a go at the next event Jon, I think you'll come away with a smile ! Letting Copie ride it does scare me !

    Beta 4t Video

Cope, sorry I just couldn't allow you to test ride the 300. I seen a stock 250 it put you on the ground (flat ground) within 20 feet of riding it. And I would feel real bad if you got hurt riding my bike ,all the way to the ice chest for a cold beer. I'll let you ride it next time if you bring a permission slip from your wife and a beer. Ray is realy liking his 300 and i'm tickeled with mine.
  14. I've had a pair about six months, really a nice boot. The boot is not water proof, it's the bootie that you put on that's water proof. Fit, feal, and wear are as good as anything on the market. Mine felt a little tight and stiff at first but after my second ride I was pleased with the boots.
  15. Betaman- What info are you asking for on the Diadoras ? fit, break in, wear, water proff, etc, or were to get them ?

    Beta 4t

I have had a couple of the Rev 4's, they work realy well, build quality is second to none. As far as valve adjustment i've done it a couple of times and it's easist for me to : Remove the skid plate .( give's you a chance to clean under the motor and trust me your going to want if off ! ) Remove the pipe : only takes 2 minutes Drain the radiator: now you will understand why you took the skid plate off, might as well change the oil now also. Loosen the carb at the front manifold , the motor will pivot away from the carb Remove the frame down supports, radiator- leave the coil on the radiator just unhook the wires, motor mount bolts-- then I pivot the bike and motor on the swingarm by pushing the back tire down about 8 inches, I use my tie downs to go from my stand to the chain adjusters and that will hold the bike steady. Then you can push the motor down to the stand, you now have access. Takes me about 3 hours and a couple of breaks to complete. Once you have done it you will see it's a pretty easy job. I know there is other ways guys have done it, but this works for me.
  17. Beta offers an exchange on the rear shock were they have rebuilt used shocks, it's cheaper than buying a new one. I know you want to rebuild your own shock so check into the cost of the tools to do the rebuild may change your mind. Ask your local dealer to check with the importer for the tools or rebuilt shock.
  18. Your welcome ! Thanks for riding Beta ! Hopefully I can make it to Duluth only time (I got) and money (will see). Ron Lee
  19. Kieth was told he couldn't ride the log on his first loop, I asked him to look at riding next to the log and do a floater over, he checked with a stick, it was about 14-16 inches deep with a very soft bottom, he decided to take a 5 and ride on. I saw what you did on cody's ride. You mean you can't walk a section and say you were going there to spot ? Play the game. Didn't Brad Villand loaned you some dry boots, that sure was some naste water. Good luck to Patric in Japan.

Wayne lets get some FACTS straight when you spot a motor 70cc it's going to make more power! I will agree with the only thing you have said thay makes any since is the sherco does make good power 320 cc it just has to. The scorpa you rode did have enough power just big and heavy. The stock Beta is competitive in the expert class , LOOK at Ray's results in last years nationals. The one you rode stock 250, if I remember right you were smiling the whole time. And you have NOT rode a Beta with a 300 kit cause it just went on the bike last week. And yes it now has the factory aluminum pipe, still quieter than your sherco when reved out. Both the sherco and the beta you hammered are good bikes.
  21. Cope not Craigs bike $7500, Norm I was at the section and saw a video from a kid on his camera. They said when the section was set up it was dry. Maybe Pat should have used a stick as a depth gauge, just a thought. Lucky for Pat it was section 12, Brad and the guys a sherco did an excellent job of getting Pats bike running again in a short time. I did go down and offer to help. Norm has your boots dried out yet, it was a cess pool, nasty !
  22. Northernnorm I have been to the same events that you described and agree mostly, the boys in southern Oklahoma just have a small place and are working on making it larger. You left out the other event in Oklahoma the October test that happens in the fall, Pat and some of the Pro riders have attended. No flame here. You do have to commend a club for putting on a 3 day national with the extra sections and checkers ! And yes Colorado could have used a water truck or passed out goggles at the gate.
  23. Wayne, map 1 & map 2 switch is there for yor amusement, enjoy ! I don't think you will tell much differance.
  24. Possable Copie, but I have seen enough upper fork legs with garf marks in them from getting knicked by a rock that i'll keep them on. Any way my 08 that I bought in November still looks new, maybe I can ride it this weekend.

    Beta 300

I installed the beta 300 cylinder last night. Installation was farely straight forward, started it up and it sounded good. Got to ride it about a minute then it started to rain, can't wait till this weekend to see how it works. Any one else have the 300 cylinder on, if so how do you like it ?
