Maybe you are just too close to be objective, maybe I am just not that well informed to comment but the truth is somewhere between the two. As for the thousands and thousands of riders worldwide if it were everyones favourite then you would get way more trying to ride surely? I think it irrefutable that the trials riders average age is getting older, which maybe in ten years time will make ishy's thread starter appear sound and sensible, only time will tell. Meanwhile good on you for dedicating time and effort on the job,

Thats my week I have one boys holiday a year, and thats usually the reeth 3 day or sardent 4 day in france. Both of which have alot to offer riders of less endurance than the scottish, and invariably better weather. Having seen the SSDT up close is it the best trial in the world? Certainly it has the sceanery sections and sense of achievement but does anyone really enjoy the masssive roadwork on unsuitable modern bikes and with the weather like last year perhaps being incapable of doing it is not such a bad thing? I wish I had done it when younger but now its something that I'll never achieve, just like getting round the M25 no stop so better get off now before its too late!

    How many under 30? Roughly?

So are you saying riding when "disqualified" is not better? Sadly with the time I have I don't have a spare week to give away. I get 4 weeks a year and with young a family totally unintersted in trials can't see it being possible. I don't think its a bad idea and the leap to "holiday camp" is a big one.

No I'm serious, its the only way I could do (part) of it, and lets not forget trials riders are an ageing species. Also develop and evolve surely HL, wasn't it a few years back out meant out now it doesn't and you can continue on no award, so some things change for the better?
  7. was in spain last week and watched a guy fit an HM kit to a 4rt, looked good. Would have thought 5 litres of fuel would get you nearer 100 miles. As a trail bike I think the 4rt would take some beating.

Thats a really good idea, Ishy.
  9. yep just need to locate in new garage
  10. No one knows the price spec or availability so how could it be true? No one in the uk or usa knows anything concrete so thats a number for spain alone? Can't see it can you?
  11. nigel dabster replied to deadwood's topic in OSSA
Doubt it. Also doubt 1200 have been sold as no one knows what the final spec and price might be, and as far as anyone knows outside of spain 1200 in spain alone perhaps Greeves could enlighten us as to the truth?

I am a fat old fart and the 290 is just fine, soft and smooth if you have a bit of throttle control. Would really suggest you take the weight off as this makes the motor respond much better to rider imput on and more importantly off. Try m sport think they have evos you could try.numbers should be in TMX.

    Strictly dance factor is good.
  14. Hey I said that two days ago!
  15. There are very few (if any) devon and cornish riders who contest the series, or even half so that argument just doesn't stand up. If the majority have to travel many hours then have two trials on one weekend thats better for everyone and keeps the interest going in the series surely? Simon Thornhill excepted.
  16. This is what gets my goat, unflexible clubs.
  17. nigel dabster replied to deadwood's topic in OSSA
It looks like the bike sherco were trying to produce. Whilst the market for exotic trials bikes is small if enough want it it wouldn't have to sell in great numbers.

  19. The last round you saw was where and when? France did have some sections with bigish steps but the biggest of all Wiggy got up well and he is the newest rider on the circuit. Steps are an integral part of trials whether its the 4 footer in the reeth 3 day or the 20 footer in france for the top lads. A few steps here and there are not stopping riders entering the wtc. The numbers entering the top route are the problem andthe answer isn't taking waway one minder or two or whatever, perhaps it is the severity wholly which is stopping entries, perhaps too many rounds too far away with no start money? Lets say they eased the trials steps lower or whatever who is going to start riding in 2010? Gibert Freixa Morris haslam sampson Gontard bethune oliveras Scafer Smage
  20. Four rounds in devon and corwall is daft. and to go there on 3 weekends during the year is over and above whats ness surely? Why does the classic normandale series have more rounds than any other champs? Is this putting some off competing?
  21. Think its a happytime suit, sunoco was one of his sponsors possibly finnish tv company?
  22. nigel dabster replied to ham2's topic in XPA
If I was to come on here and say that the new bike I have is really good it would not have the same value as if I was writing a report on a sherco and xispa comparison. My mate sells me bikes and if I was to come on here and say everyone on here should buy bikes from him then again that would be wrong. My issue was paul's report was initially flagged up as "unbiased" whereas no one knew of his status outside of aus and as all have stated he is a pal and he owns the bike. this is not to take issue with xispa, paul or the importer just to put it in context.
