British Champs - Sunday
Should have been at the British Champs? what winning a two day clubman trial beating a few 35 year olds proves apart from that he rides well in east yorkshire I'm not sure. I note Tom Hick was at Rochdale.

British Champs - Sunday
Well done to the youths who did well, against the adult experts again, Alexz Wigg was only beaten by James Lampkin and had the best lap score of all. All credit again to the ACU for letting them ride, and it gives hope for the future. Looks like it was set out a tad on the hard side?

Which Tyres
So you think its softer sidewall and harder compound hence the longevity, sounds right.

Confirmed Price For 4rt Mont
Interesting to see what the price for a second hand one will be one year down the line. "Here sir I have the latest brand new Raga replica superb light machine, polished to perfection, or for the same price this secondhand only done one scottish 4rt, sure its a bit shabby round the edges but the price is right", or is it?

Which Tyres
I dunno, you tell me?? You said it was a softer compound not me.

2000 290 Wheel Bearing Sizes
They really aren't that tight in my experience so gental heat and a tap from the other side usually gets the first out. You can buy fancy bearing pullers but who would want to do that.

Which Tyres
Ahh well spoted, no I scrub them out either on trials where I do not feel disadvantaged with no edge like last weeks Richmonds crackpot, or as a practice tyre on the spare wheel. The spare wheel although initially more expense, pays for itself in that you can always have an old tyre to pop in for practicesaving the new one. Why would a softer compound last longer Mark g????

2000 290 Wheel Bearing Sizes
wondered what technique you used thats all, I go for the freezer and heat method, as the fit is not as tight as older bikes.

Chain Length ?
........and makes it more difficult in tight turns.

You need to be careful with direct comparisons with worn and new as there are many factors to take into account.I have a new michelin and a really worn out rounded one, comparison is that the worn one is oh so soft and will grip much better on dry stuff, but muddy southern stuff the new one would be better. As for wear the IRC is definately longer lasting. I always try to turn my new tyres after one event and this gives 2 really sharpe edges, and I always try to use the new edge in a muddy trial.

Novogar Arthur Bates Trial
Sounds like the twinshock welsh trophy round where we waited for half an hour then still finished with an hour to spare. Sections had never been ridden since the year before either. One to miss next year I think, shame really as theres some decent sections in there waiting to be marked.

Whats the bets on the youth riders beating the experts?

Which Tyres
Marky, isn't it a little strange that you can tell which tyre is best yet probably all the top 15 in the country use Michelins? IRC are the way to go in mud but on dry grippy rocks a michelin is better. Unless you have done a scientific experiment its difficult to pin down the difference, on intermediate going and then theres muddy rocks rocky mud rocks with mud imbetween and then rocks like bracken which get slippier the more they are ridden. An IRC is best in ALL of those?
