We have a good day or so in the new year one hour on each bike and do a report on each, sponsored by Trials central, and then the opinions will be biased as we know but overall we can get impressions and if we want the bars adjusted or whatever we can do that maybe?????????????

Now this is where I beg to differ.
You can do what you like with this site and thats fine by me but TMX is not in an identical position. Whilst I thought the 4rt good it was not necessarily the bike for me, or possibly alot of other riders and this is what birks is trying to say in his final comments I'm sure. The difference with TMX is that they have no competition and whilst they would be mad (and wrong) to say the 4rt is rubbish, they could elaborate and describe a comparison. Birkett says he didn't have a 2 stroke to compare to well why didn't they have a 315 on the sidelines and compare them. They don't have to slag it off just do a more realistic assesment. Moto verde will and other continental mags so why not?
How much do Sandifords advertise in TMX anyway, and if they didn't where else would they?

I put the quote there so you could read it, not ignore it. I can't ever remember a test in TMX, to be a test it needs to be objective and lets not forget Birks is a dealer. And as for being fair when did birkett do the Scorpa test?

Is it just me or did I miss something birkett said in the test and I quote "..........the suspension was working well especially the rear after the 315r which never did have the best back suspension."
Funny how we always get these 'birkisms' last years bike was crap/ let water in/ had wrong gearing/etc but never mentioned the suspension on the mont in the last 6 years anyway as being anything other than ok. The rear unit is adjustable aswell and as far as most fair minded people say its quite good isn't it?

What being a local lad and keeping honest has to do with WTC aspirations I'm not sure, and as for the British Champs he hasn't even done all the rounds this year!. As john lampkin said about Dabil he needs to up his game if he is to do anything at a higher level. Michael is 18 ish?How old were raga bou Taddy et al when they hit the big stage? He should be doing the Junior wtc and Europeans then next year (if not already) rather than playing at low north park surely?
Don't take this as a critisism of just Michael Brown its not intended as such, it is how the young stars of the ACU academy seem brought on, I really do believe if the UK is to produce any future World champions there needs to be a shakeup of the elite squad and some seroiuos time and money put in similar to what is done by the federations of Spain and Italy. I say double the licence fee for starters.

If you strip it there is a mod you can do to help stop the dreaqded cough, not sure what it is but think its valve springs.

Surely jarvis will do the whole lot he is a top ten rider and Sherco don't have too many of those, either with or without Caby.

I think the later Italjets were quite a bit different, the bultaco copy was the first model.

After riding the 4rt at BVM's there was nothing that made me want it, and I'm like ishy, its just a feeling I get when riding a mont its just not for me, but no doubt about it they are well made.

Yes. If it fits you then its a good choice.

It should be noted that not everyone here is unbiased.
Some people are very anti any other brand than Montesa and bleed red and white.
So the fact that the mains is lubricated as it is the clutch is different to everything else and its size and weight is significantly smaller is not a leap forward?
Try to be objective.
The Sherco 320 4t especially and montesa 4rt to a lesser extent are very similar (excluding the top end of the motors) to the 04 designs.

I hope you are not meaning me as that is simply not true, I do love my Sherco but its not blind faith and when I sold my 04 yesterday I was still waivering as to buying a new 4rt which I may still do when I have thrashed munches bike to within an inch of its life...........

Not at all spud. what I meant was a sim card type thing you could slot in to adjust the engine performance, section by section.
