The spacer was added on the 05 bike as part of the porting and other engine changes. It seems to me to make a difference when coupled with the rest, would leave it in. Check the pilot is 33 mine was not.

Comparing the Gas Gas Raga rearwheel 04 and Sherco 05 (though this is a match for 04) the wheels have the same sprocket to disc size, but the off set to the bearing is different on the sprocket side. My guess is that with spacers this could be corrected assuming the rim is exactly on the centre line for both. However the rear calipers are fixed size on both yet different so its not a matter just to offer it up. Sorry suby can't help with the mont stuff.

They certainley felt sharper but wouldn't want to say 100%. More relevant is the top tubes which had a tendency to bend and therefore elongate the geometry. A freind of a friend loosened everything off and drove it into a wall, which straightened it, but don't know if its true? Anyhow a simple straight edge will show if its elongated wheelbase and I think I've seen a few the other way too, depends how they were ridden big drop offs down south in the tadley traders did one of mine in the 70's.

Advantage of the 340 over the 325 is the 6 speed box which gave a lower 3rd gear and occasionally usable fourth. It actually produces slightly less power than a 325 but more torque probably. This is what is required if we are to give any of the list at the top the chance to reach their full potential. By the time they reach 16/17 they need to have evrything in place otherwise it won't happen. The ACU need not pour thousand and thousands into it it needs to put in place a system which will alow the best youngsters the chance to shine. An analagy would be that the best teacher in the world in a shed will produce children that can read and write far more quickly than one which can't. Which gets me back to the Steve situation that regardless of what he achieved surely he is one of the better placed riders who should (somehow) be given more time to nurture and advise. As an aside when Alexz won in Euope last year it was down to the 3rd and final round and it was his dad Julian minding for him. Nothing wrong with that but this was a case where some extra help/back up would have been great. Somehow these lads need a bit more help. I could have minded for him but my skill was surpassed when he was 9, and perhaps we should be thinking about people like Steve Colley to mentor these hopefuls at bigger events/trips tp spain???

I was saying that steve never was WTC because he never was, fair or not. My point about it although I didn't make it clear was that with the guidence back-up etc. he could have had it for a couple of years. I have serious doubts about Michael Brown he is starting to go the way of Tom Sagar and to a less extent James Dabill. He has real abilty as do they all but where was Raga and Bou and Fajardo at their age? How old is Blasueik as well?

Without wishing to sound like Lane it really more depends on the way these youngsters are brought on, maybe more than there innate ability. Out of that list how many are as good or better than Steve Saunders at a comparable age? As a for example, from the top I don't think Sam is that much different to Steve in ability at that age (16?), but Steve didn't do it either. Why? Perhaps the ACU academy under his guidence can produce the next British w t champion but maybe not. I know it was a serious uphill struggle to get Alexz even on the academy in the first place. Manchester united take kids under their wing at 7/8 so why shouldn't we? Spain's licence costs something like

A class is going all 125cc very soon so thats up to 17 years of age. I can't remember the ruling but think that 125cc is being phased in under UEM rules up to 18. It would be wise if thwe Americans ever want to produce the next Bernie or Lane (did I say that, excuse me) then in the States they should follow suit.
