Chris and tim pearson run trialstalk .com is it which is the nearest thing I think.
-
Am I missing something here are Suzuki pro taper bars for motocross and just happen to be the same as trials?
-
Be careful steve as the shape of these is very different to a shoei.
-
I guess I'm not a mettalurgist (sp?) but guess if its softer it will bend further anyway so that to straighten it you will break it so it kinda defeats the object. Guess the way to tackle it would be to leave it alone then anneal it before straightening it?
-
I didn't think annealing cast aluminium did anything much except weaken it?
-
-
Herndon should be able to locate him through trialzone@cox.net or look up the number in Trials competition
-
Big shame would be great to watch a trial stateside.
-
Sadly me too, don't know why I agreed to it off on the 16th December. Christmas day at disney, what am I thinking of.............
-
and John Lampkin hasn't got any of your books has he?
-
It could be an hrc programmeable ignition, heard today, don't know if its true, the production 4rt's are not adjustable.
-
Pisco you aren't the same hulme thats very closely linked to the Gas Gas importers and ridden them for years are you?
If so isn't your view slightly biased????
-
Often have this problem after resaeting a new tyre, just persevere and eventually it'll work. push the security bolt in as much as poss and dont lock up unt6il riding pressure set.
-
Oh did I mention the 4rt?
The only down side, if you like the 4 stroke motor of course, I could find with it, was it seemed to run on when you shut the throttle after a small busrt say up a climb or step after you had shut off, apart from that no complaints really. Felt like a mont with a 4t in it.
-
This is where I think personal views get in the way of subjectivity, reading the above no one would think that the steering on a sherco was any good, but it was the only bike I though steered nuetrally, all the others particularily the Montesa seemed to either tuck in or wash out, to me. Now is that down to body position, handlebar set up, or bike geometry???
Bear in mind I have ridden a sherco for nearly 5 years so if my body position and feel in turns is not somewhere near then I havn't learned anything. Who knows?
-
Well I would say that its probably too much of a coincidence not to be him as he was something to do with silkolene here in the uk, bet Texas is a bit warmer than Bury st Edmunds.

Well no one I spoke to work out what was happening to the 4rt at BVM's test day. Apparently they have 12 on order and only one is coming out of the first batch. The bikes on test rode fine all day and they crtainly looked like production bikes to me. Apparently Wayne didn't know what the hold up was at all.
-
This is where the problems of testing start, and whilst r2's views are as valid as mine I would absolutely have to disagree about the Beta suspension as no way was it a patch on the 4rt, but I was on the 270 not the 250 and they could well have been different in set up, and the 4rt was very very softly set up. The gasser 280 felt good to me too and I loved those fat bars, the position was just to my liking and the levers where just how I like them so I felt roght at home straight away.
There is one thing that always bothers me with these short rides and the only bike that came close to how I set my bike up was the Gasser. The 4rt had way to much tickover and the Sherco felt awful, the levers were too far down the tickover too fast the bars were just a little bit different to my renthals, clutch biting point too close to the bars and so on.
There wasn't one bike which I wouldn't have liked to take a 4mm allen key to. If I won the lottery......... Gas Gas 280, 4rt, Beta270 and a couple of shercos.
-
Didn't Alan Wright have something to do with them?
-
I bet there is only one production run of the engines each year.
We had this discussion when they ran out of bikes in 02 was it?
-
The spindle is ally and shouldn't be capable of braking 10mm Allen keys something is wrong here. Did you get the forks out? Did you wedge the rh pinch leg open?
-
Yes and I rode a couple of british rounds in 1982 as well, but things move forward and maybe I can do alot more now 20 odd years later but you can rest assured the Dabster won't be having an assault on the British Champs in 05, definately not the experts and not the masters either. I am not that capable times change, but surely jim Lampkin and bricey are up to the masters? They WON the experts so if they can't cope with the harder route let them ride no award experts.Simple. Same with Tom Sagar on the novogar, that series should be easier as there are 3 championships above it.
On that how come the Allan Jefferies has got a round again when it was ridiculously hard this year, and the quality of the west of england was very poor aswell. Is there no judgement on the quality of the trials?
-
Perhaps there is some way to "encourage" winners like Brice and Lampkin J to upgrade?
-
No nothing to do with me, I just think that if they don't appear soon it will be serious egg on face. I had the coversation today that it has probably been the worst PR sandifords have ever been involved in. Either they know nothing, or they don't care that people really do believe them when they say a week to ten days, whatever it is perhaps we will never know the true reason as to the delay. If its a major unsolvable fault then I can't see how there would be the 10 production (as far as we can tell) or so floating about apparently fine and dandy, amos's bike seemed standard and fine, and there was not much wrong with the bike I rode round the spanish shop. Just can't get my head round it.....unless its the software?
