In the uk we have had a very very long list of junior world champions, i think the last Spanish one was either gomez or tarres? Cant remember if casales won or not.
So something is happeneing when they move to the top route and its as much to do with money and support.
Also the change in rules did nothing to encourage youth just prolonged the careers of the spanish top 5. (excludes bou)
Funny that as I hate montesas, but gainst my better judgement I bought a 242 and its a cracking bike, and as good in standard form as any 200 fantic if not a better motor.
Im sure its the best under rated twinshock out there.
That simply isnt true at the top level at all. Shercos and betas had real problems with their clutches which is why you saw specials. Yes bou would win on most current bikes but the exceptional build of his very light one off special helps no end.
Of course you're right. My gp is in my garage so how I got mixed up can only be down to age related memory or simply I havnt caught up with the fact the standard bike is a "racing"!
@imexian youre flush enough buy the GP.
the rules are there because Andy wishes them to be afaik, and he has what seems to me sensible reasons for them.
If you chose to disagree take it up with him.
I was only pointing out the obvious at least I thought it was.......
A beta even with a flywheel weight (did it have one?) is not super soft.
Pretty sure the 250 sherco i tried wasnt soft either, this had the hydria ignition i think.
