  1. http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/p...name~TY350S.asp There is a stop in there. The micro fiche shows it as a spring and a partial gear. Hope this helps. --Biff

    Gasser Bang

http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/Technical/backfire.html Read that article. It helped me on my 2000 280. --Biff
  3. Keep your knees out. Look forward. Get ready to have the time of your life. Welcome to the sport! --Biff
  4. What year world round was it? There is no world round here in 07.... --Biff
  5. See you at mid ohio then. --Biff
  6. Sam I agree with ScottT go up a tooth in the rear. Its not as dramatic of a slow down as going down in the rear and you can probably bring your snail adjusters back to minimum. I might have some old sprockets to try that out on. Not for permanent but just as a test to see if you like it. I would not keep a worn sprocket on the bike... you get the point. Let me check and i can mail it out to you if you want. Is the 07 a 4 or 6 bolt attachment. I think its 6 but i cant remember. --Biff
  7. Alan, Will you be comming up to new york at the end of june or ohio in july? If look me up! You know my dad John and i would also be riding a greeves. --Biff
  8. Fellow gasgasers, I just picked up my 300 pro this weekend and man am I happy. I can see where the power is not a weak point comming off of a 2000 txt 280 I really notice the weight as well. All around great bike. On to the topic at hand. I am not a big fan of the threaded in ajp hydraulic lines. I liked the banjo bolts of my old bike because if I crashed, and I know i will crash, the banjo let the line move with out breaking anything. I want to convert these present threaded in lines to banjo bolts. Have any of you done this? I expect new lines will be the big part but will the masters take a banjo setup? Is there a mod to protect the present lines? I also notice that the pro riders convert their resivoirs to a larger??? I read that they do this to get a quicker engagement? Do i have this correct or backwards? Have any of you converted over from large to small or the other way from small to large? Easier pull is what I am looking for and hontestly I am happy so I probably will not do anything right now. What are your experiences? On top of that have any of you used the magura system or the s3 clutch cover? Thanks for the info. --Biff
  9. Cool another bike bashing post! noooo not really. Here in the states Beta with Ron Commo and Sherco/Scorpa with Ryan Young have the marketing down pat. They are really pushing their bikes and giving out deals left and right. Their national support is awesome too. I have seen multiple riders haveing problems with their bikes and those two companies go way above and beyond to get them back running. Bravo to that. But! (here it comes) there are things that draw me away from their bikes. Last year i beat out three different competitors because their betas broke. I love the beta frame and it is a really neat design but they love to go their own way on several every day things. Levers and masters for one. Yeah you can change that stuff over to ajp or who ever but why.... Their geometry is weird to me but that would just take a days worth of riding to get used to. Build quality is good but all it takes is for 1 thing to fail which makes you dnf to turn my head. Number one in build quality has to be Montesa. They have a great machine and I am not money enough to afford a 4rt and i really dont want the 15 extra pounds. Get the weight down and keep the quality and that is the number one machine out there. My roommate has a 315r and I dont think that there is a tree in norther michigan that he has not tried to impale himself on. He comes home broken but the bike keeps running. Gasgas.... Ok i am really biased so we will just say. My baby rules and we will leave it at that. Sherco. I have a 2.9 sitting in the garage that my buddy let me ride for a couple of weeks. The suspension rules but that is where the bike ends for me. Power is down. brakes stink. runs unconsistant. The die hard sherco guys i talk to say that ooo thats not a good year (2002) but they keep changing the bike every year! That is my big pet peve. I am all about improvement but come on build a good bike and stick with it! I saw several 06's frames break and they gave my buddies new frames. All of these buddies bought 2007's and praise the gods its so much better than the 06's. Last year praise the gods it was better than the 05. My buddy has a 2001 and he was told that they are no longer importing parts. argggg all of these makes me think twice about the bike. Scorpa Ryan Just took over them here in the Us. I think that they have a quality product and FanticMatzy is here from Germany riding hers. I think that their build quaility is up there with Montesa. I think it is a great bike and i love that yamaha power plant but the weight is high still. Marketing may be pouring it on soon and for 80% of the us Scorpa is not even seen at the local events. We only have two in michigan. --Good post thanks for letting me put that out there. Biff.

    Engine Noise

You water pump shaft seal is probably shot. Possibly even the shaft but its not that expensive of a repair. The knocking noise may be due to the lack of collant now in the cylinder. Try not to run it much longer with out coolant. The little glass eye under the kick starter is for inspecting the fluid like that. In the future look at the glass eye and if you see similar then shut her down and fix the water pump. Txt's were not as bad as pro's for this concern. --Biff
  11. Go Team SMAGE!!!!! Kick some butt man! --Biff
  12. My 2000 txt 280 started bottoming out and i tightened up on the spring with some wierd results. I had the Sach rear shock on mine and that is probably the same as yours. I found that if i turned the little dial to the plus + it would dampen better but after lots of playing around i replaced those spherical bushings at the top and bottom and i found that my problem went away. I am 180 lbs to give you an idea. The top sherical was frozen and the bottom had about 1mm of slop. Start by replacing those shericals. Hope that helps. --Biff.
  13. Your right. Martina who is our German club-wo-man rider here in Michigan was making that observation just yesterday. She says that they ride all the time even with snow. Most of my experience with european riders is at the world rounds and a few select riders who come over to do shows and tours. She states that her club rides every tuesday saturday and sunday. And all of the club members live within about 15 mins of the property. It also costs about 100 euros a year to join a club. Over here we have 5 members in a 20 min drive and have to drive an hour after a 3 hour negotiation with our wives on why we need to do this. hahahaha Its pretty exciting to get the average rider comming over to give their perspective. She has a bike now and hopped around in my back yard for about 45 mins. We should be at tipecanoe Trials inc for sunday only to get some preseason time in. Sam we will be up in flint on sunday. I know its a long haul but come up and visit if you want. I am borrowing pete hatches sherco for a couple months. booooooo I will get a bike soon i suspect.
  14. My first event was Early 1984 i was 10 but could barely touch the ground from my honda tl 125. My dad had to start the bike about 40 times or so and half way though the event he puked from exhaustion. I asked him if i could quit for just this one event and he said he was about 30 seconds from offering me 20 bucks to quit. Every year i do something stupid but last year zippy and i and some other guys were practicing out at our property in flint... I was fooling around out by the creek when i thought hmmm i can splatter this. So i start going back and forth just working on the timing. After about the 6th time here comes my roommate mitchell hey check this out... he comes and watches me... I am suggesting that he try... So zippy shows up and i say hey check this out.... well i landed totally wrong. I dont know how it really happened but i got all tripped up on the bike and ended up belly flopping into the creek. Much applause followed. 6 months prior i had also won the life preserver award for doing basically the same thing in a TI event down in Amsterdam Ohio. --Biff Ps... Zippy when you broke your ankle and i was driving your truck i was going to acutally peel off and take it to mexico but i soon realized how much of a p.o.s. it was and decided to stick with the orginal plan.
  15. My father (john knapp) rode and said it was tons of fun. He was sorta bumed that his compeition went under... (litterally under water) but he always enjoys the florida event. My mom worked the score cards. He was surprised that the greeves ran through that much water. I suggested having a camel back pour water on the ignition for the dry events to keep things in check. Being english the bike was probably designed in the rain. --Biff
  16. Andrew D, Last year my buddy Pete got lazer surgury. Less than 24 hours later we are in our abandoned park here in detroit on his sherco he got a stick right in the eye! He realized that he never really worried about that untill he didnt have glasses on. He wore them for 40 some odd years. Now he rides with safety glasses on. Take a week off the bike or wear saftey glasses till your fully healed. He was not permanently damaged but they did have to banadge him up for a couple of days. Just a word to the wise. --Biff
  17. http://www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=1030343 Click on WMA or Real track 6.... Another classic motorcycle song and a personal favorite. --Biff
  18. I don't think you want me riding around in a bikini.... I will let you use your immagination (Make sure to use lots of hair) on that one. I need a break man! A hard section wears me out. An easy section gets me back on track with a rest. Plus i enjoy the trail ride, If i didnt get to ride the loop i wouldnt have eaten as many bugs this season... That clover leaf idea is pretty keen hmmm i may have to use that one. Our property is 36 acers (about the size of oaklahoma) and that would be handy. --Biff
  19. Fellow northerners! Michigan, Ohio Possibly even Wisconson boys. Saturday is the First Flint Ice race of the season! (Ok its not trials but it is a rip roaring good time) It starts at 7pm eastern time 16 bucks for adults 8 buck kids. Perani Arena in Flint Michigan. Many of these guys ride our Flint Trials event. Come support if your in the area! http://www.mlive.com/business/fljournal/in....xml&coll=5 and here are some pics from last january. http://www.flattrack.com/dc/dcboard.php?az...p;mesg_id=14166 The arena is across the street from Walleys where we have our banquet. -- its gotta be a good time if Biff is there!
  20. Here here Paul_Thistle..... Same problem up here in Michigan. And we are in the heart of the rust belt..... Stupid suv's.... -Biff
  21. Is the Italjet AHRMA legal? I thought there was some sort of stipulation for SWM's last year that kept them out and for all intensive purposes (dont hit me italjetfan) this is basically a similar bike. Hmmmm My Dad rides AHRMA with his couple of greeves and I like riding with him but the whole shifter and brake on the wrong side is screws me up. I want to get into a non yamaha AHRMA bike for the coolness factor and the practice. Italjet would be nice and Mike Comer of Tryals shop can still hunt down parts as of last year. -Biff
  22. ooooo o o o o !!!! Jumping up and down! Flat head? Link publication any news>????? Very interested! -Biff
  23. I heard that they had a different cam and ignition box to fix the hard starting concerns. Fred Willis in Ohio has one and had problems but now his starts fine. I have also seen 29r's over heat due to a wireing short but that also got fixed. These are my only two experiences with the sherco 4t. Both bikes seem to be running well now for over a season. Lag does seem to be an issue that a lot of people are focusing on. Heat is my concern. th 4 strokes develop tons of heat and will the bike react the same warm than hot? i am interested in knowing what people think about 4 stroke also.
  24. Unfortunately I don't have a picture but 3 years ago I had a huge loft appartment in Ann Arbor Michigan. The kitchen had an open roof with 20 foot high cielings. There was a cabinet/bar that seperated the kitchen from the living room and I had my gasgas up there for a short time. The cat was really interested in it and i started to wonder if my cabinets could actually hold a gasgas and soon took it down. You can probably still see the tire prints up there... hahahaha nice work Dan! Biff
  25. And theres two 125 gasser (Alexz and Ross) riders over here that would give you all lessons (No offence intended ) hahahaha good one guys. This is a riders sport but I am always busting his chops on brand. They all can do the same obsticals. Some just hold flowers better than others. I bring this up because at one national years back i woke up to find my bike (yamaha at the time) hanging in a tree. -Biff Gasgas for as long as the company can keep in business. (knock on wood)
