  1. Seems to be some chat around saying Dave Taylor did a full lap of the TT course in the seventies (it's clear he didnt), but did a quick search on Youtube for Dave Taylor TT and found this gem........ John Noakes, Trials, Shep, what's not to like? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8cTRSV6dLI
  2. Perce, I'll arrange for some slow release, high carb complex energy food to be on hand somewhere above Gunnerside Gill. Doughnuts alright?

    Ballot?

29 Vertigos. Surprisingly high number. 101 Betas, only 39 Gassers, 40 Sherco, 17 Scorpa, 50 Mont, (+ 3 Honda) 4 TRS, 6 Jota and 5 Ossa. I bet that's a major difference to previous years in terms of numbers of the different makes.
  4. One of my funniest moments on a trials bike was after having the engine apart I fired my 348 up, clicked it into gear, dropped the clutch and, er, hung myself up on the handlebars as it shot backwards. OOF! ?
  5. Have a look at to get a feel for it. Nothing stupid section-wise as they need to cater for a wide range of skills, but probably plenty of pushing out of bogs if you aren't used to riding them.

The air filter is a pain to get at if you have large hands. (get your wife/girlfriend to change the filter element ). I've put some open cell foam in front of the airbox which seems to stop any loose mud etc getting in there.

  8. I hope they are in the top ten, but I think the younger riders will begin to displace the likes of Fuji etc and if Karlsson and Casales dont miss rounds this time they are nailed on top ten. I may be right. I may be wrong.......

  10. One thing that does seem to be getting people onto trials bikes for the first time is the experience days that Inch perfect are running. They are blessed with a fantastic piece of land in a beautiful part of the world, but they also seem to have tapped into a lot of latent demand. Good clubs locally for the newbies to get going with too - Lancs County, Darwen, Bolton, Rochdale etc.
  11. Lee, you'll find a good deal of the same riders knocking about at Rochdale, Bolton and Darwen trials from when you were riding. No South Lancs club though.
  12. Sprocket does make it look dumpy at the back end. Will photograph it properly once it's fully sorted. I'm after another tank so that I don't ruin the new one on it. Doesn't matter if it is tatty. Anyone got a spare they want rid of?
  13. Another one preserved for posterity. Not 100% finished, but not far off!

It's a knurled end that you do with your fingers already. I just struggle with being able to get my hand into the box to place the filter correctly.

Turns out the screw, part 34 above was missing and the filter rattling loose in the airbox. Rode a very wet trial at the weekend with only a small amount of splash into the box. Will be putting some coarse open cell foam in the gap in future. There's a knack to get the filter fastened in particularly if you're big handed!

Hmm, no screw on mine, just a hole in the middle of the plastic disc which will let unfiltered air through.

Just trying to do basic maintenance on the new steed. Found the air filter was just loose in the box and can't get it to seat into the outlet. Doesn't help that my hands are too big to fit in the box. Any pictures about of how it should fit. Also the rad cover sits very close to the rad itself, definitely needs a mudflap fitting on the front mudguard.

  20. The brand, factory, production facilities etc. Have a look on trialworld.es .
  21. So the bids are in . Torrot top bidder €9.7m, Sherco third at €2.7m. Looking like production will get going again.
  22. Spot on. The club make huge efforts to provide accessible sections and there's plenty of them to choose from. I observed on the grouse moor (and have done for 20+ years) and still managed to watch at Reels Head (two sections) and catch most riders at the finish. Judging by Andy's photos, looks like he managed four groups. Believe me there's nothing particularly special about the sections away from the spectator ones and the atmosphere at the spectator ones in my opinion is the best at any trial. Please don't make it more difficult for the club than it needs to be.
