  1. Good luck there, this may be the epitome of bad scheduling as far as getting trials riders to compete,I think we are all busy that weekend Only 45 miles away from me yet I will be driving 6 hrs south that weekend...

    Sections...?

I assume you mean Time-Sert and not Helicoil Glenn BTW,I've already been chastised by someone we know for fabbing a aluminum shark fin on my 309,probably best to have a flexible one that won't get bent into the disc and stay there.
  3. If you buy it you must attend Trials Inc. events,There is no better way to learn to be a better overall motorcycle rider than competing in Trials. There are 6 different lines through each section and I'd say the bottom two, novice and Intermediate you would have to really try to hurt yourself on purpose. I would already have that 300 in my garage but I haven't had a weekend to go get it available since he put it up for sale.(Move quickly,I may just get free soon...) Fantics are really good bikes,I believe they might be the most reliable Italian motorcycle...If you can deal with the mainstream from Italy you can surely get on with a Fantic. Tryals Shop in NY plus the usual British suppliers and there you go. Easier than the older Beta that's for sure.
  4. +1 on the making sure your grounds are clean and tight(Glenn and I are auto mechanics and are obsessed with this!) that includes the engine to frame mountings,Doesn't take too many times of "expensive processor didn't fix the issue,oh,lets tighten that ground wire " to burn that into your mind...
  5. I LOVE the snap of my 240,makes riding fun! But my 309 comes on like a motocrosser even though it has lots more flywheel weight than the 240,only bike I run a slow turn on. Some day I should have a minnarelli(Going with your spelling) powered Fantic since as a youngster I had access to many of the broncco minibikes and had a Apache 100 as my ride once I got my license.
  6. I added 6mm to the backbone of my 240(which I assume is the same frame as a forward kick 200,but I don't know for sure) and it really helped it's agility, since my bike still has the original Marzocchi shocks with the ramped preload I can set them to the middle preload position for tight boxy sections or back them off to the softest setting and the stability is great in the rocky streams(wish I could do that with a modern bike!).Before modifying the head angle I had to crank the preload up to the max to get it to turn and it had very poor grip then due to topped out shocks. World class riders aren't always the best development riders, they can ride anything, I however have to have things just perfectly tweaked to my idiosyncrasies to be able to get around my backyard without hurting myself

    Sherco X-Ride

Think you can get a plate for it?
  8. Just a thought, and never having ridden a "Blender" powered trials bike, but could "No Stop" help negate an advantage internal combustion has over electric powered bikes?
  9. I think what makes them occasionally rich without a airbox is that at certain rpm a resonance sets up that blows the charge back out through the carb backwards, then is sucked right back through the carb again, each time the charge passes through the carb it picks up more fuel, thus almost triple charging the mixture(probably doesn't pick up as much fuel in each successive pass as the air gets heavy with fuel and doesn't draw that much again) having a airbox breaks up this resonance so the air just makes one pass through the carb. Very common issue with "pod" air filters too, impossible to jet out due to specific rpm resonances rather than throttle position determining richness.

    Sections...?

I really think it justifies buying a 3 in1 Mill-Drill-Lathe to fabricate one

    Sections...?

I have the shifter, just came with no tip,was super cheap if I remember. Dammit, you're making me want a Section...

    Sections...?

Glenn, Could you snap a pic of the shifter tip and either email it to me or post it here? I scored a alloy shifter cheap off ebay a while back and it doesn't have a tip, would like to see how Fantic originally did the spring before fabbing something up.(try not to swipe the alloy kicker and shifter to put them on your 240) BTW,Awesome purchase(Awesome appropriately used here!) Ridden it yet? If it hits like my 309 watch out! Only bike I ever had to put a slow turn throttle on! I'd REALLY fear the 309 with a 28mm Keihin!!!
  13. Almost ready for Trials Inc. Vintage Cup! gotta beat all those TY175's!!!(Unfortunately all those guys can really ride)

    Sections...?

Is there a reason why you are hesitating???? fook,I'd buy that to just look at...

    Sections...?

I think the forward kickers are safer once they get some wear and tilt away from horizontal, got a wild hair once and took a spare I had and welded up a stop so it would tilt back upwards toward me to brace it against my foot better, when it reached the bottom of it's stroke it would fold up everytime and slip from under my boot and swing up and stab me,had to grind the weld back.
  16. WELL...Seems I forgot all about it when me and my bud were up there picking up a TY175 from Rik Smits at Jimmy's house...then when we were supposed to meet him for a ride I bailed due to it being too cold for my old body...I do need to go up there and check out what is wrong with his van,I will try to give him a call this weekend, but I might be taking a little road trip on saturday...If nothing else I will take my carb apart and see how it's jetted,I am in the mist of a refurb on my Fantic 240 so all my garage time is being spent on that but it's down to smaller details yet,Sherco is pretty dirty from a brief mud ride last weekend so it needs to come apart anyway...work is slow so I may get extra time off to complete home garage projects(May be getting another though )...so maybe, possibly, you may just get that jetting info...someday
  17. I think we should run the Pro Class at Nationals under whatever rules the World Championships are running at the time, then after the World rounds are over(I don't even know when their season runs ) Have a "Trans Am" series in the fall here in the U.S. with full Stop and backup allowed,No big "FIM" sanctions, just whoever wants to ride can come over and compete. Look what it did for motocross in the '70's
  18. Glenn, Ive been passing on ANY good deals until I get what I've already got fixed up,Some of them are KILLIN' me too.... good news is my 240 engine should be coming back from the welders today after getting fins tacked back on,can get going on that again
  19. Looks Great! Did you Import it or was it already over here? I have rarely seen any for sale on this side of the ocean, and none when I have the money in my pocket. How does the clutch feel? I had several small displacement Italian bikes as a youngster(early '70's) that had very firm clutch pulls, and most were brand new Bronccos(Fantics) Everyone is buying TY175s around here,I have no interest in joining that herd,is a Fantic 200 as light as a TY175?
  20. Bring back the Multipla! Had one before I even had a drivers license,Biotch had "Stow and Go" seating way before it's time! Maybe had 13 horsepower though...
  21. Probably because "light makes right!"
  22. Seems a helluva lot harder than cutting the backbone and adding a splice,I have seen it done on XT500 yamahas to convert them for Flattrack, but they've got oil in the frame that would complicate a backbone extension. I just did a TY175 last weekend, easypeasy, added 1 inch to it.took longer to move the tank mounts back than to extend it.haven't got it reassembled yet,my bud who owns it immeadiately scored another really nice TY and he's been playing with that. I may just talk him outa all the rest of his ty stuff.
  23. Shock angle on the Hojaka is nothin',It's the crazy double steering head on the TY that gets me!
