  1. To get the Street Tracker look you have to have a fat front tire,I can't recall if there are any mounting bosses on DT forks to attach a fork brace to,only really needed if you run a strong front brake.Possibly track down some RD400 forks, bet you could even use the RD 7 spoke wheels,or if you find a good RD just build that into the Tracker... Big square number boards(don't know the british colloquialism for what we call number plates) with hole cut out to mount projector beam head lamps, trackers don't look right with standard headlights. You guys have "daytime MOTs"? forget lights altogether! If your a real man about it you pipe must hang low and be in the way for turning right, right footpeg should hang low, left up high and tucked in as in the above rd pic. RD is the real deal, not a street bike, note the Champion frame.
  2. I'd love to build a street tracker too someday, plans are to find a DT250 or DT400 to get a street legal titled bike, lace a 18 rim to the front(Purist would do 19&19) so it can run 4.00x18 front and rear, fab a downpipe, appropriate bars and saddle, mini lights, and stack both shifter and brake on the right. Could be done dirt cheap.
  3. Oh I think we definitely need to see some pics when you have time

    Sy250 Re-Furb

Stainless is for show bikes, even if you grease them or use anti-sieze on them they stand a good chance of sticking and damaging the aluminum.
  5. I'm sure you will need to ride that pretty often to keep it "tuned up for him"
  6. On the Tryals Shop website he shows a TY175,might be a good choice for a starter bike, easy to ride, easy to resale if you get hooked. The Fantic may be a bit bigger but my 309 is pretty damn low slung itself, and requires more "savvy" to deal with day to day life. Any old garage bike shop can service the TY175 for you. I know you say you are big but if he still has the TY give it a spin while you are there.
  7. We don't need no stinkin' reed valves! Valves are for toilets! My 240 totally ruined my TY350 for me,just couldn't get used to the different response One of these days I'll get around to doing the crank on my 309,it's like a nitro burning funny car in zap!(flywheel weight still installed too)
  8. Ideas for back of van suggestions: Plenty of storage for "Lubes" and "Oils" and some sort of"Kit"
  9. When JimmyZ comes along tell him it's $50 for anything other than a five no matter what his real score is
  10. I measured my Fantic 309 aluminum swing arm bolt that I had to cut out and found a almost perfect bolt on Fastenal's site, just had to trim some threads off, works so good I've almost forgot I did it.May not be uber light aluminum but it fits and was available THE VERY NEXT DAY!

    240 Seat Repair

Just a piece of black plastic cut to match the frame rails and zip-tied in place.

    240 Seat Repair

I like my solution,my saddle was fine but I put it away, the extra room comes in hand when climbing, wasn't using it to sit on anyway...
  13. Sold my TY350 just because it threw my timing off when swapping back to my Fantic,The Fantic always felt like a Nitro burning FunnyCar after playing on the TY for a day. Just couldn't get in the groove with the TY(Don't know how a TY350 relates to a TY250 Mono) I did wonder what the TYMono would've been like with a IT250 engine in it,just never stumbled across a 83 IT.(And don't know if it would have fit, pictures look similar) (But actually do regret selling it though)
  14. Can't seem to win on carbs with this bike,Oko ran sweet but flooded over regardless of my attempts to fix it, and had a random stall at times.Went back to Dellorto by purchasing a new one,I do not run Alcohol blended fuel. But I had another float, running a 40 pilot, and a 60 slide that has been cut a bit leaner, does run pretty good now. Stock main jet, needle and needle jet. To it's credit Dellorto wasn't flooding even with one float half full.
  15. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/28407-the-beta-clutch-fix/ Worked wonders on my 240,takes lots of time to do properly, you will get tired/bored but soldier on!
  16. Did the wire actually burn off or did the insulation just deteriorate? You can cut off and solder on new wire yourself if that's all it is.
  17. You can see the loaded Fantic and Sherco in the background,10% chance of rain today, was going over to my son's house to ride around and get him back into riding, temp kept rising and dropping every two minutes and thunder, went back in and looked at radar and we were surrounded by a stationary storm that was blowing up in intensity, unhitched and just pushed the trailer into the garage and had to find something to do...downpour pretty much rest of day around here...
  18. Started to mess with my SuperSherpa(replacing head gasket) and goofing around stuck my old Fantic tank and saddle on,fits great, looks right! When I get this up and running I'll give it a go laying out a dualsport trial event.
  19. A buddy of mine and me have been discussing doing this for a couple of years, have a great loop possible right around where I live, but I have been dragging ass on getting my Kawasaki Super Sherpa running right(doesn't help I went out and bought a KLX250s) and he sold his Sherpa.I think gearing the events towards Super Sherpa/XT225/XT250 bikes will work good, some sort of detriment to the Reflex guys would be required I think, maybe 30 miles Interstate right in the middle?Separate class for Reflex/plated TY250's? Require Kenda 270 type tires? Probably have to ride in groups and self-score.Maybe carry markers and set up the sections on the fly.
  20. I just keep cliickin' until I see what I want, but when I go back and try clicking something a second time I usually get something different,Lots of interesting info there,It's like a Box of Chocolates...
  21. So what was wrong with your 200? I can only compare my 240 to TY175 since I haven't ridden a 200 but Wow,my 240 works better in every way!(Even the owner of the EXTREMELY nice Ty175 said I should sponsor him on my 240.
  22. Trialonline.org has complete scoring
  23. May be ethanol free gas but it has probably lost it's volatility, which could make it puddle on the plug.New premix is a must!. You'll likely have to remove the plug, kill the spark and put it in 4th gear and push it around to pump out the accumulation in the crank case. MAKE SURE you kill the ignition! I won't keep gas nowadays for over a month, goes into my Jeep and mix up fresh!
  24. Roll your handlebars forward(Look at pics of modern bikes, works for vintage too) raise your levers up close to horizontal. ride with one finger on clutch, one finger on front brake at all times, even if you can't pull either with one finger, just get used to it. Trials Inc. Is having quite a few vintage events this year, but vintage are welcome at all events, just ride the Novice(easiest) line. Dunlop Trials tires are cheapest real trials tires, don't use Pirelli, actually a dualsport or something tire. You really will need a airbox, otherwise you will ingest water, water is common at trials events. If you are anywhere near Indiana you are welcome to come up and ride with us!
