The No. 3 slot on my spoke wrench is the best fit on my 240 nipples, the slot measures 5.7mm.
-
Fantic 240, Dansi flywheel. Thanks guys ORO looks like a good site.
-
I need a 26 x 1.5mm flywheel puller (RH thread) does anyone know where I can get one in the UK, preferably online?
-
Have you changed to a different type of oil? pro clutches will drag badly if the wrong oil is used.
-
NGK list the B6HS as equivalent to the L82.
-
Gas Gas did make a 370, 1996, blue, one of my mates had one.
-
Thanks guys, the only thing in the frame at the moment is the engine so I will try the RH shock removal method.
-
According to This site all the Fantics of that era should have 35mm forks, even the 50 & 80. I put 230cc of 10w in my 240 forks, Bill Pye will have the definitive answer of course.
-
This may sound a bit stupid but I can't get the exhaust on to my 240, do I need to take the back wheel out & feed it in that way? (BTW I bought the bike in bits so have never taken the exhaust off either).

A lean mixture tends to give a sharp, metallic knocking noise.
-
Has anyone tried the Pro cylinder head spacer available from Gas Gas UK?
-
Don't know him but I think I have seen his name in local results

Just ordered a pair of moulded tank badges from Bill Pye, he said he's got about 50 pairs left.
-
Are the badges the same as a 240? if so i'd be interested too.

This site gives the procedure & measurements for float height. Click on "motorcycle technical"

Fuel choice locally is Premium unleaded or Super unleaded, I always use Super, the 301 still pinks occasionally on a long climb on a hot day though.
-
I have a Fantic 240 & a 301 both of which are recomended to run on 2% premix ratio, but this ratio is based on the 2 stroke oils available 20 years ago when the bikes were new. How lean can I go with the amount of modern fully synthetic oil without causing any damage?

Thanks HondaRS but I know how to order a carb! it was the slide number I was after.
-
I have already checked the price of the parts I need and it is actually more than the cost of a new carb, but I need to know which slide to order in the new carb.
Thanks 348mate - the slide number is on the underside of the slide next to the needle. (BTW I live in Douglas).
-
Can anyone clarify which slide should be in a 240 carb? This post says 40, this french site says 50, and I have also been told 45 by someone else. My 240 has a (knackered) 50 in it and I am wondering whether it is the right one or whether I should replace it with a 40 or 45, any ideas anyone?
-
We were thinking a Dellorto might be the best option, can anyone give an idea of jetting or even a way of estimating a starting position for jetting based on the Amal settings?
-
A friend of mine (no really!) has just bought an Ossa Gripper and is wondering whether there is a better carb to use than the standard Amal. Has anyone successfully fitted a Dellorto or anything else to a Gripper (250) and improved the carburation?

Does the Ducati coil run with the Dansi flywheel & stator or do you need different ones?
