  1. hi catskinner i fitted the kit about a month ago,a lot less sag easier to hop the rear end,upto now no bottoming out, i also had to let the shock spring down a little to compensate for the new kit. if you fit the kit make sure you check and repack all the bearings with grease while you have it all apart
  2. in my 2002 montesa i run 110:main jet 35:pilot jet air screw :3 1/4 turns out i hope that this helps

    our 04 is main-126 pilot- 33 needle-3rd mixture screw -3 1/2 turns hope that helps

  6. no other adjustments,it's surprising how much air builds up in there

  8. i think your best bet is to get another tube,then a set of fork guards before you go out again

  11. as munch says those are the three to get the one out of the front pipe use a 1/8 drill, drill all the way round the washer then carfuly chisel it out,the others should come out fairly easily by pulling them out,the silencer one should tap out hoe this helps
  12. what is the ratio that you use ie 1.5%,2% also do i need to add xtra oil to keep the 80:1 mix correct
  13. my montesa does the same (2002) model and i use optimax all the time mixed @80:1 just wondering if anyones tryed any of the octane boosters that are available

    jtt is right you must not leave the bike stood i did the same thing 12 months ago got the water out straight away,cleaned the carb,changed the oil when i got home the engine and bearings have been ok and its still going strong
  15. do you mean the thermostat if so it can be bypassed which will mean the cooling fan staying on all the time it runs a bit cooler but beats cooking your engine join both the wires on the thermostat start the bike and see if the fan comes on
  16. thanks subira i hope i,ve managed i got a steering gater from local garage it,s a nice tight fit over existing airbox rubber and hopefuly it,s airtight the other end fits nicely over the carb after a quick run yesterday it seemed ok but are giving it a good run today as for the jets they are what were in as standard sent with carb
  17. if any one as fitted one to a sherco 290 can you give me some idea of the mixture screw setting as a starting point please we live and ride in uk
  18. not been much traffic on here lately, any of you montesa riders out there fitted a dellorto VHST 26mm flat slide to your bikes if so please tell me what you used for the air intake rubber as the air intake end of the carb is 49mm wide also if i get it fitted any suggestions on mixture screw settings

  21. I have a 2002 montesa 315r and I think that they are still very smooth and easy to cope with. You can make them a lot sharper by lifting the throttle needle up one notch.
  22. my son had the same trouble with the 03 back box very noisy and loud we put it down to water? with the 04 bike we always put a exhaust bung in for washing the bike down and even when we are traveling with the bikes on the trailer as the water spray from our own car as well as other road users gets sucked into the backbox from the endpipe since using the exhaust bungs whilst we are traveling we have had no trouble

    Skid Plate

    on a ok skidplate there is a piece of rubber which touches the bottom of the engine when we have had the bashplate off we put the two front bolts in first screw in only a couple of threads then you can juggle the bashplate about to put the two back bolts in then tighten them up
