It depends. Some riders really "take" to the 4T others don't. If you can ride a few to see how you get on I'd say you should be guided by that.

The Main Difference is the Way the power is delivered. 2T's have a softer more linear power delivery because they "fire" more often. The "pulse" as the engine fires cna be modulated better as it does it more often. A 4T tends to be a bit more "ragged" as the bigger gaps between the "firings" take away the smoothness. Power and Torque tend to be comparable and 2t's gain rev's quicker which can mean you need to be quicker to react on the throttle, this is a strength of the 4T where the "spinup" is slower and suited to a true "no-stop" style. This is of course relative and a good rider can work with both and have a good day at a Trial.

I think the "Cargo" van is known in the UK as the "Doblo". I have to admit I haven't seen many at trials, it is bigger than the Little Peugoet/Citroen van so should fit a bike in. The Connect should be ok as it is bigger than the Vauxhall/Opel Combo which easily takes a bike.

Gas Gas recommend at least 98 RON in their bikes in Europe but it's difficult to know how that relates to the fuel in New Zealand. On that basis you may need to alter the timing but check first to see if it was altered by the dealer.

Entry List Here. Only 45 Entries. Championship and Expert A have 9 and 10 entries, only one youth and 25 Expert "B" entries. Ben Morphett isn't there and the Expert A class seems to bit sparse. Expert B entry is OK. Hopefully a few "locals" might decide to ride.

Those cowls seem to cause problems on the Bare metal rads. GasGas fixed there's a while back but all dealers were frantically remounting them prior to that.

At least once a month seems popular. It usually means the oil "does" 8 trials or so. If you are doing distance trials then change it after that trial.

Well said Caroline, Shame about the riders and the one who protested as it seems to have not permeated to the other National championships. Perhaps somebody taking things a bit too seriously.

It sounds like a sticking float problem. If it is tipped this may not be helping. If the bike is new I'd get the dealer to check the float height and see if it is sticking. If you need to do it yourself then I'd set it straight and clean out the float bowl. There is a guide to setting the float height on the Beta Forum as they had a few setup problems initially. It is a tricky process. Failing that have a look at this Float.

Depends where you want to be really. The Gas Gas remains the "trick" bike and the Sherco is pretty dependable and is a lot "trickier" in ST form. My lad did try the 2011 Beta EVO 125 of Danielle Whitham and his verdict was that it seemed more powerful than the GasGas 125 he last rode in 2009. He since has ridden 2010 GasGas250 and 2011 GasGas300. The Power will seem pretty good stepping off a Beta 80 and the bike will seem a class up as all the 125's are using the same parts as the "adult" bikes.

Just a small side note. I have noted that Some riders have been taken out of the Main results and classed as N/C due to "late" entries taken up as a result of other riders not being able to take the start. This appears to be due to "other riders" raising objections. Now I do know that other nationals have had "late entries" due to similar situations of "Force Majeaur" and those entries have counted in the results. Much as some riders may feel that these riders would "harm" their chances in the Championship, I would have thought that "any" rider who only does a few "local" rounds would do that anyway so they should have to live with it. On this Occasion the entry is always over subscribed due to so many "locals" having known Chris Carter and riding in memory of him.

Yes The spacings are the same. We had a DID wheel built for a 2009 GasGas and it has fitted the 2010 and 2011 bikes.

Remove the Pads and Gently rough up the surface with a fine sandpaper. I'd check you don't have a leaking rear caliper.

My Son is a member of all the local clubs and competes in all the local trials. The only time it makes a difference is at Centre Trials where you are asked which club you want to "ride" for. It means he rides every weekend give or take.
