    Footrests!

Lennie, I would contact Chewy from the members list, he specializes in making these.
  5. You might want to consider a 2010 Sherco Access, All the features of a modern race bike and a savings of a grand. Ryan Young may have a few 290T's left, check out his web site, I really like mine.
  6. On You tube, "Lambretta --1959 Scottish Six Day Trial" If someone could turn this video into a one click, Thank You in advance. I am not able to do that yet. A two part series, hope you find it amusing. rockyrider One Click, Next Post.
  7. O I love those two words; Stanley, and I've seen Bostich . Two American capitalist free market companies a few miles from home representing everything good.
  8. 2k8 man, here is an easy one. If the stat is in doubt, remove it and run the bike filled with fluid as normal.see what happens,no harm can come of this.
  9. Okay 2k8 man, let's get serious for a moment. I do not want to overshadow any one elses advice. Tony mentioned a good point by looking for air bubbles in the cooling system. This is a good sign of compression leaking into the coolant, but impellers can cavitate causing air bubbles, it's important to tell the difference. Shellman also mentioned filling to mfg's specks to be sure you have the proper amount to begin with. With cracks in the head, they are usually minute, and often not seen with the human eye, as often they only open when the engine warms up enough to make them expand. There is a process called magnaflux, which can be perfomed by a machine shop. Some times a little history of how or when this began is helpful. You mentioned falling over in the snow, I doubt this would have any effect as hot engines plow through water all the time. Keep in mind your engine may NOT have a serious problem, sometimes it just takes a little time to diagnose it properly. remember, don't panic. Also, did it have enough anti freeze content in it to begin with? This of course could crack a head or cylinder overnight by freezing.
  10. Hi 2k8, I tend to agree with chewy. It sounds like compression building up in the cooling system. It may not be a crack, but possibly a cylinder head gasket or seal. I'm not sure yet if these have thermostats! Another possibility stuck causing pressure to rise. The main thing is, Don't Panic. Keep checking the forum.
  11. Jeff, Using a word like friendly to describe a high output trials bike may be a bit vague. Any one of these models could toss you on your ear in a heartbeat. Be considerate of this when choosing. I thought I wanted a 290 but, I was wisely steered to a 250 by a more knowledgeable person. For the same "friendly" reasons you mentioned. The plastic mud guards are just to keep things light, and the mud out.
  12. Hi Jeff, My understanding of the map switch is: position 1, is for muddy wet conditions and, position 2 is for dry surfaces. Hope that helps. Having a good guy dealer, 3 minutes from my home would help me make up my mind. I just purhased a new sherco 250 two stroke and it's a handful. And yes, my forearms get tired after after an hour. I can't speak for the other models.
  13. If GOD didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.
  14. Have you ever seen those guys riding peddle trials bikes? Whew! There's a lot to be learned there.

    Pastrana

Andy, Good footage. I liked it better when he did those on a motocross bike including a 360. just me.
  16. Hi Ian, PUCH IS AWAKE are the bumper stickers we promoted in the early 70's when I sold Puch motorcycles. I must admit that the Dalesman model was not offered to us at that time, but I suspect the bulletproof, 125 & 175 radial head, aircooled, Bing and Bosch equipped enduro models closely resembled the Dalesman. I have fond memories of the reliability we enjoyed with those models until they pulled out of the U.S. Any correspondence would be thoroughly enjoyed.
  17. Thanks, Highland Lassie. What you offered made lot's of sense, a most comprehensive account of early SSDT, along with others, I come away with imaginary thoughts of what that must have been, and will be like in 2010/11. I had the great pleasure to visit Edinburgh and Inverness in 1995, on a motorcycle tour. One of the most memorable places on earth. How many of us can say they've taken a dip in the Firth of Forth?
  18. Does any one have information about events, or could verify the Golden anniversary of SSDT as described by Wikipedia. Thanks, and Happy New Year to All.
  19. Now ya got it, taught me a thing or two ta boot.
  20. Ya know Cope, I had a similar poblem up here in good old new England. My 8X10 barn warms nicely with that new sherco and a hose on it. I added heated gloves, only problem is, I'm having a heck of a time taking a whiz with those darn gloves on!

    Roll Up Roll Up

HI Perce, I have to agree with Gizza, I think it's magic you could even set up a poll! Hope my vote of late 2010 helps out ()
  22. Hi Bob, just a thought, are you sure the caliper pistons are allowed to apply the same force as when new? Might there be some muck between the caliper and pads? Are you using never seize between the pad EDGES and the caliper? These would seem a more likely problem than pad material. Good luck
  23. Cad, very good description for loss of power. I'd be looking to clear that mud from the radiator than raising the needle. Overheating will kill engine performance everytime.
