It's been awhile since I posted anything on this forum, but here goes. I've been restoring a '74 Yam TY250 (almost done). Motor is in great shape, no problems at all, just cosmetics. With the motor out I wanted to take a look at the clutch to see how worn it was. When I got it apart I saw these really strange steel disc. I had never seen disc like these before. Looked like someone had ground it a bit on the outside and made it look like a nipple. All the steel disc looked like this, except for the last one . I was told that these were stock disc and it was normal. What I'd like to know is what was the purpose of having them shaped that way? Thanks

It's been awhile since I've been to this forum, but I'm looking for some parts for my recently aquired 1974 TY250. The bike is in really good shape and I don't want to damage a very good gas tank. Does anybody make a decent replacement tank? (plastic would do). Also, the bike came with a extended & thicker seat. I'm looking for a solo replacement seat. Any suggestions? Thanks

Greetings, I am starting the restoration on my bike and I would like to do some modifications. I have a complete TY250 front end that I would like to use, is there anything I need to do or modify? I appears that it will fit easily. I also plan on putting new shocks on it. I'm leaving the mounts stock so can you give me a recommendation for shock length and spring weight for use with the 250 forks? (I weigh 205 with my gear on) I'll be posting pictures of the build as it progresses. Thanks in advance.

A fellow trials rider (a very competant one!) has a TY200 Majesty. Although the bike goes OK (he is also a good mechanic), he feels the standard airbox is limiting the performance. He has fabricated a replacement, but still thinks the airflow is stifled. Someone suggested fitting a 'boost box' (possibly from a DT175) Has anyone any experience of this? Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a top yoke from the Twinshock shop to a TY175? Looks like it moves the bars to be more central to the steering line. Did it (or would it?) make much difference to the steering? Mine tends to 'flop' into turns, and it would be nice if I could slow this down a touch. (Have 360mm Betor shocks fitted, standard forks and yokes, forks flush with top yoke as per TY Trials recommendation. Steering head bearings are a bit worn and notchy though).

My cousin is asking for information on how to bump his TY175 to 200(ish). I searched and found a couple threads but none were specific. 1. What piston is used and are there any modifications to it? 2. I have been told there is a spacer under the barrel. Are there specs on the thickness? 3. I believe there is at least one UK supplier who can do said conversion but we will be looking to do this locally (if possible). 4. I told him to go on a diet or get a TY250, so far both of those suggestions have been ignored... 5. I'd suggest trying a boost bottle first but we'll see how that goes. Any other tricks?

Hi there I have a 175 and one of the flywheel magnets has broken This might be a stupid question but does it need 4 magnets or would 2 opposite be ok if they were by the coil when it needs to spark or is there anywhere i can get a magnet from.

Just a quick one, (ooh err missus) does anyone know if bushes are the same for 175 and 250 twin shock, need some today and my local dealer is showing stock of 250 but not 175 bushes. Found out now (cos some I had on order have just arrived) that they are the same so if you want some from (i.e Jk Hirst) then you can order 250 ts bushes for 175 and vice versa.

I have no manual and plan to take my forks apart, clean them and then install the new "Magical" fork springs and adjusters that I just received from France. Does anyone know what the original spec. is for the amount of, or level for, the forks on this bike? I'm assuming that the spec. for oil weight is10w30 or 10wt (I'm 130lbs so a light rider)? The springs and adjusters did not come with any info. so I'm assuming that I set the adjuster length so that the combination of the adjusters and the new springs match the length of stock springs? Thanks for your help.

Frustrated .... '74 Yamaha TY250 Trials ran fine but a little flat at top end. Decided to try a CDI kit to get better performance. Installed the CDI kit and wouldn't start. I rechecked and set the timing with a strobe lite and turned the crank using a drill with socket in the CCW direction. Prior to timing, checked and marked TDC and .122" piston BTDC location on crank case. Next I pulled the spark plug. With the plug grounded to case i see a nice blue arc when i use the kick starter. After kicking my leg tired. Pulled the plug and it was wet. I pulled the plug and let the cylinder air out overnight and tried the next morning. No start. the kill switch in not part of the…
