Hi, I purchased a 1976 TY250C (U.S.) a while back and one of the issues was the side stand was missing and the mounting bracket on the swingarm was broken-off. I purchased a '74 swing arm, side stand and return spring on EBAY but that swing arm shows no mounting bracket at all. In the pictures below, the '76 is on the left and the '74 is on the right. The third photo is of the '76 where the bracket broke (I filed and painted it). The parts diagram at http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx shows the same diagram for both years despite the differences and the diagram is not clear. So, I'm looking to see if someone can point me to a couple of photos (preferably c…

Hello everyone, I bought a YAMAHA TY 250 1985 but it has no spark. I think that the cdi-unit is defective. I've checked the resistance of the source coil and that's a bit off too (160 ohm in stead of 240 ohms). also I found a crack in the high tension coil but that measures out fine. Can anybody help me? thanks!

I,m pretty sure that I have read that a Majesty tank will not fit on a stock TY.Why is that the case? Is there any way to make it fit or does it take extensive frame mods to do so?

I ve tried inserting the spring and rebuilding the leg, then also compressed the leg to increase pressure against damper tube but its still turning any ideas? Bsaweezer.

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble trying to date my ty 250 mono. Engine and frame numbers match and start with 53Y. I've noticed on all the pics I've seen of ty 250 monos that they have a long 'rubber' tube leading from the carby to the airbox (plastic?). Mine has a short tube leading to a fibreglass airbox. Any ideas and feedback would be appreciated. Peter.

Got a side stand off eBay that was billed as a 175 side stand. It looks like one but is far too short. So don't know if it's been cut down or is off a TY80 or something. Would one of you with an original side stand on their 175 be kind enough to measure it for me? I'm going to cut it and weld an extension in. Thanks Dave

I've just got a Yamaha TY80 for my son and was wondering what the oil / petrol ratio was? The oil / petrol is mixed in the tank and the closest guess I have is 20:1 which is what my FS1-E was, back in the day> Also, the bike would have tun on leaded fuel. Do I need to get a fuel supplement for unleaded? I haven't ridden trials since the 80s (I used to have a Bultaco and a Montesa) and so am a bit out of touch. Thanks.

Due to the home projects I had going (new boat shed) plus some upcoming winter weather and the extended time it took to get a cylinder re-bored and plated, new piston, etc, I have not actually started putting the engine back together. That is because of one other nagging problem that is bothering me. That is the missing needle out of the upper needle bearing cage that was part of the engine when I tore it down. I noticed that it was missing from the cage when I took the piston off the con rod. There was a rag under the piston, but with my luck it could have found it's way down into the cases under the flywheel. I have looked everywhere for it…

I have no manual and plan to take my forks apart, clean them and then install the new "Magical" fork springs and adjusters that I just received from France. Does anyone know what the original spec. is for the amount of, or level for, the forks on this bike? I'm assuming that the spec. for oil weight is10w30 or 10wt (I'm 130lbs so a light rider)? The springs and adjusters did not come with any info. so I'm assuming that I set the adjuster length so that the combination of the adjusters and the new springs match the length of stock springs? Thanks for your help.

Can somebody with an original TY 250 A tell me what the stock length of the dipstick is? I'm getting 133 mm for just the metal rod below the plastic handle???? The part number on CMSNL is 3221536300, but on there it looks like a plastic one. - I want to make sure I have the right quantity of gearbox oil in there. Thanks for your help!

Due to a bonk on the head or unresolved childhood issues with my Mom I've become inspired to screw with my 78 ty175 in all kinds of ways... There are not very many area's that are not getting messed with and we'll have to see how the end result works (or doesn't...) For now though I'd love some clarification on rewiring/relocating my new condenser under the tank or out of the Mag cover. For as long as I've had the bike it has run ok with 3 wires soldered to the top of the condenser. 1 to points, 1 to the lower/larger of the dual coils at the front side of the mag and lastly of course the black wire to the HT coil. With this move of the condenser to its new location do …

I've seen a lot of ty250s in my day but these are kind of interesting (mainly the silver one) Interesting points: 1. original owner said they were purchased new from the dealer in these paint jobs. 2. The silver one has a 23" front wheel w/ good fender clearance. 3. Again silver one has a strange swingarm w/ 2 shock mounting positions. 4. Frames are black 5. Skid plates are different one is welded aluminum, other is fiberglass 6. Funky air conversion is that on the fork Anybody have any thoughts on this stuff? Could any of this stuff be stock? Let me know what you think.

For those who are interested there is a Whitehawk frame on ebay, seller doesn't know what it is for. I think it is for a 175 TY . Not sure, but those on here that know will know. (If that makes sense) Type in TY Whitehawk you'll find it. PS If I am wrong I stand corrected.
