Hi there Just bought an ignition tune up kit for my sons Whitehawk 80 and when refitting, I think it may have been wired incorrect previously (or I'm wiring it up wrong !). This is how I think it should be - hopefully someone can clarify ! Main ignition wire from coil into stator plate is joined 3 way with the stator coil wire, and a wire to condenser. Condenser then has another wire to the points. Hopefully this makes sense ! cheers and thanks in anticipation for the help cheers John

HELP Am I loosing my mind ?? I have read every entry regarding striping down the forks on my ty 250 drum brake mono, the allen bolt came out quite easy as did the damper rod and all the internals so I am left with the stanchion and the outer slider, I have removed the dust cap, circlip and all the parts that are visible but CANNOT separate the slider from the stanchion. I have tried a few gentle taps and a few harder taps and even lots of really f*&$"*ing hard taps and still cannot seperate the stanchion from the slider, can any body help me before I end breaking something

ive been on the phone to yamaha and gave them my matching frame and engine numbers 451-1001** and they tell me that the bike is a 1975 ty80b.Thats all well and good but the bike has 5 gears in a one down four up config. Now yamaha tell me it should be a standard 4 speed as the 5 speed didnt come out until late 70's.Could the gears have been modified or could there be a problem with the gears thats making it look like a five speed. Its definitely 1 down and 4 up with neutral a half click up from bottom. Not sure if ive bought a rogue bike but frame and engine number all match and look genuine. All seems a bit strange and would welcome any advice.thanks.

I'm after a set of 'Magicals' fork springs for my TY Pinky, but the website has been off for 'maintenance' for at least a month. Have they gone out of business, or can anyone offer a different explanation? Cheers, David

I was recently browsing all the results from the 2013 WTC and happened across the Manufacturer's table. I noticed that Yamaha finished the season with points. Honda did too but this could be due to there being a rider on a Honda branded Montesa so is understandable, but can anyone shed light on how Yamaha have managed to earn points? Taken from the FIM website: http://www.fim-live.com/en/sport/trial/classifications/ I would love to see what bike has awarded Yamaha points. Cheers

Hi all I am interested in modifying my standard TY250 engine to a 320 I would like to buy a replacement cylinder and head so that I would always have the original parts to fall back on if needed. Would any of the TY twin shock cylinders be ok to use for the conversion? There is a cylinder on ebay at the mo but the guy does'nt know what year bike it came from. From one of the posts it said to use a DT360 piston, I have only looked on ebay but they only look available in the USA. Does anyone know of a supplier in the UK? The Majesty site wants £150 for a piston kit but it looks like I could get a DT360 kit for approx £100 from the USA. On another post one guy asked …

Hi.i have just bought an old ty 80 but have discovered it has 5 gears.the frame number is 451-1101##.does anyone have any idea as to age of bike as the frame number points to a 1970 s bike but I didn't think they were 5 speed at that age. The engine number is the same number so I know it's not been replaced.any help on its true age/identity would be appreciated.

I have seen the extending plates to weld onto the standard swing arm, however is there a longer model from another bike that will fit? I have a mini majesty frame that came without a swing arm and am looking to extend by 2 to 3 inches. Any photos of your solution welcome.

Hello, my ty 175 is slowly getting there. the rear shocks are betor's and look fairly new. with the amount I have had to spend on the motor, I am keen to use the existing shocks. trouble is, despite softening off thge spring setting, they are very firm - can you let some of the gas out of the valve to soften them up? front forks are standard with new chrome inserts and seals (previous owner did this) they are firm too and only go half way down if you load it ............. to soften, do i just use less oil / different oil? thanks Andrew p.s pjme did a top job on my engine bits (cylinder reline and crank work)

Hi there Im a new TYZ250 owner... a 1994 model Just wondering what other owners recommend for the spark plug ? The bike came with a NGK BPR5ES and ran fine I changed this to the NGK plus recommended in the manual BP6EV , except i used the X platinum tip version which was hard to find After running the bike today i could have sworn it didn't run quite as well with the new plug, not quite the same power it seemed. Nothing else has been changed or altered on the bike since the new plug. I just wondered what plug everyone else used in theirs ? I know the the R NGK plugs have resistance in them and i wondered if this made any difference to the running. I have a Mon…
