So with this teardown and inspection- looks like there are cracks in the clutch basket. And looking at the examples on Ebay, this is a very common problem. Every example on ebay has at least one crack visible, and there are about 5 examples for sale on there right now. Mine looks exactly like most of them, and I'm not sure how to post pictures on here, so if you want to check out what I'm talking about, just go to Ebay and look for ty250 clutch baskets. The crack I noticed first goes directly thru the "9" that is moulded into the part number. Mine is exactly cracked in the identical same place! There is also a crack in the flat steel smooth ring on the other side ne…

I have managed to put a nice dent in my TY175 tank. Can anyone recommend a repair company who will also respray, fit new decals and then lacquer? If so, any ballpark of cost? UK - ideally south east. Thanks.

There might be the possibility, of a trade deal coming up... I'll wind up with a TY175 .. 74' model I believe.. I like the looks of the twin shock classics, and those tiny little seats.. Give this fat man a place to rest. Ha. Just saw a picture of a TY with modern forks and a disk brake. Yes.. watching the classic trials videos on YouTube.. Those bikes are really neat.

hi I currently have a gas gas txt pro (2002) that i have up for sale. if it dosn't sell I was toying with the idea of fitting the front end and rear wheel from the gas gas onto the TY i've only had a brief look but the rear hub on the gas gas seems to be wider, by about 15mm, i was thinking i could get the hub and the disc stay arm machined down to fit. The front end would probably fit if i pressed out the steering stems and replaced the TY one in the gas gas forks? also i would need to mount the rear brake res somewhere has anyone else done anything similar? at the moment nothing is set in stone but i was just mulling over the possibilites m…

Me and my friend are restoring what we believe is a 74 ty250 based on the design on the gas tank but we’re having a difficult time trying to find info on the bike. What’s the name of the engine and/or do any other bikes share an engine or parts, what’s a good place for parts or info??

Hi All, I am back with another question regarding the 1977 TY250 493 I am working on. I am in the process of replacing the crank seals and, I got the left hand side out with no problems, but the right hand side, the clutch side, is giving me problems. I got the crankshaft gear removed with no problems. I have to remove the clutch basket to get to the seal retainer. And I got the clutch plates removed, but I am not sure which hand thread it is on the clutch basket nut. Looking at the few threads that are exposed it looks like a left hand thread, which makes sense since the crank shaft nut was a right hand thread and these turn in the opposite direction. I have an Dewa…

Can anyone offer me advice on myTY 250 Mono 1986. It keeps fouling plugs. When I remove the plug it is dry but with thick black deposits. The bike runs well for a time but after about every 4 hours the plug is fouledand needs replacement. Is this an ignition ot carb issue? Any advice gratefully received.

Hi I have just cleared my garage and now its time to start restoring my ty175 .I got it running and it goes through the gears ok but has a loud knocking noise. I removed the head barrel and piston hoping it was just the small end bearing but the big end has a bit of up and down and side to side movement. I am hoping some of you nice people out there can put me on to a good engine rebuilder. I am based in Liverpool but any where in the north west or north Wales will do. Will keep you up to date with the project and I am sure I will be picking your brains soon. Cheers.

Has anyone tried the Moose Racing shift lever on their 74 TY 250 A? https://www.denniskirk.com/moose/blue-forged-shift-lever-for-husqvarna-tx125-2017-1602-1139.p579997.prd/579997.sku Let me know if you like it/ fits perfect or whatever- I'm probably going to replace mine soon cause it does not fold and is not stock anyway.

Hi, I have a TY 175 Whitehawk and when I removed the head and barrel for a rebore I noticed that the head bolts had been modified and cut down as the stud holes in the barrel were a smaller diameter than the head. Does anyone know if this means I have a DT175 head or did the TY175 have different variations?
